First time here. With my friend Kelsie, we went for coffee and a bite to eat. It's a really nice and friendly place. An excellent range of hot and cold sandwiches and some really wonderful delicious cakes. Next time I'm in Wakefield, I will be visiting again. I can highly recommended a visit to the 'Marmalade' Easy place to find, just up and behind from the cathedral. Thanks so much. x

My friend and I were looking to meet up for a catch up and a light lunch and Marmalade was recommended to us. It’s lovely. Great atmosphere. Excellent food, friendly staff and “to die for” cakes Highly recommended.

Came here for lunch today with my Mum, sister and 3 year old daughter. Never have I been anywhere so inviting! Our daughter was truly spoilt from arriving to leaving. She was given books to read and the waitresses really engaged with her which she loved. We sat on the couch by the window with the little children's table and chairs. We ordered two panini's, a cold sandwich, pancakes and a children's sandwich meal. Then we obviously had to try the cakes for afters which were delicious. It was very reasonably priced, I liked how the children's sandwich meal wasn't expensive (£2.50-I think) and 50p drink. Most places are in excess of £5 then a drink on top. We have all said we can't wait to return! Thankyou for making of lunch experience such a pleasure.

I had my baby shower here this weekend. Absolutely fantastic time. We had the second floor to ourselves (party of 16 - perfect amount for space). The food was lovely, the room barely needed anything doing to it when I arrived because they had decorated it so nicely and the staff were really friendly. They left us to ourselves so it felt like it was our space to relax in, yet were always popping in to see if we were ok or needed anything. Thank you so much for making the day so memorable ladies.

This tea room is just the best! Their range of cakes is amazing, I am slowly trying to work my way through each choice! The soups and hot sandwiches make a lovely treat for lunch. And just in case you need any more convincing, they serve Prosecco , and the staff provide such a warm, friendly service. Be sure to try this beautiful tea room out, you won't be disappointed.

I went for lunch for my birthday today and had a fabulous time, the food was lovely and I'd put the brownie up there with one of the best I've ever had! My mum and boyfriend had two of the other cakes and they were all thoroughly enjoyed! Will definitely be back for more coffee and cake in the future!

Visited here with my three friends to celebrate the pending arrival of my little boy. We were treated so well, they’d popped us in a lovely quiet corner by the window upstairs. The food was absolutely delicious, wow, the cakes are amazing! Staff are so friendly, no wonder it’s always so busy here it’s an absolute gem of a place to visit in Wakefield.

What an incredible delight afternoon tea at Marmalade on the Square was!! The words "unlimited tea" are like music to my ears so it was an easy choice to select this option. The difficult choice was which cake to include in the event, there are so many absolutely beautiful hand made cakes. You can really tell that somebody cares! We went for the nutella cookie cupcake (who makes cupcakes from cookie dough?.... a genius in my opinion 👏) and a slice of oreo cake, which kind of just tasted a bit like chocolate cake with more vanilla icing on it but hey, that's still a very very tasty cake! Service was very quick and they couldn't stand having people with luke warm tea, bringing fresh pots like clockwork keeping the whole experience top notch, nothing but respect for the attention to detail on all aspects. So what isn't so great.... we chose to sit next to a window and it was sunny, got a bit hot in my jumper. Erm, its really really hard to say what could have been better in honesty. Delightful venue, incredible service, free flowing tea and tasty treats. 😋 10/10 - a must!

Everything was perfect from start to finish. It was the rhubarb festival in Wakefield which meant the place was extremely busy but that didn't impact on service or our enjoyment. Nothing was too much trouble. All 6 of us enjoyed it age range 24 - 81 yrs.

What a lovely, friendly cafe! The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We booked for afternoon tea with a bunch of dietary requirements (dairy free, gluten free and a vegetarian). They accommodated superbly. Food was lovely. Left feeling very full up and happy. Highly recommended!

Quirky, bohemian café in Wakefield centre. Friendly service and tasty cakes. Downstairs feels rather cramped with tables squeezed into such a small area. More tables upstairs in a more spacious setting.

I had a lovely lunch at this little cafe in Wakefield city centre. I was looking for somewhere dog friendly and they really were!! My dog was offered water, treats and cuddles!! I had the special of the day which was Brie and tomato on focaccia with salad, really beautiful with a lovely glass of red wine. I will be back!
