Lovely setting, spacious beer garden for those wanting to done outside; and above all great food!
From start to finish our stay here was fabulous. We decided to have a road trip adventure on our way to a day in York and stumbled across this hidden gem.. Attentive friendly staff, room was immaculate and breakfast, namely a full English for me and my partner had the fruity pancake stack. Perfect.
We'll definitely be returning and a big thank you to the team.
Stayed in the hotel for a few nights, a great stay!
On Valentine's day we had dinner in the restaurant with our little boy and the service was fantastic. Katie G was really friendly and chatty. She paid special attention to our little boy which we are really grateful for and he loved! Paige was very attentive and did everything with a smile on her face! We have come into contact with her a few times this week and every time she has been lovely! 5 stars for these fab ladies!
I recently celebrated my son’s 18th birthday at the Holmfield Arms in Wakefield.
The staff at the Holmfield Arms were friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Kudos to the team for their excellent service!
The food was outstanding. There was a wide variety of options, and everything was well-prepared.
We left the Holmfield Arms Hotel with full bellies and happy hearts. It’s a place where you can celebrate special occasions, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a relaxing family meal.
Nice hotel. Clean and tidy. Great location for everything Wakefield and Leeds. Breakfast is a bit early if you're not staying for business but was nice hotel. All the staff were very pleasant during our stay especially Paige and Katy G when we ate in the restaurant. Will be back next time we visit the area.
I would like to thank the staff that were on duty last night, 26th April, as i had a problem during my meal, especially Jake and our server. The food was good the staff were very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. I'm not used to seeing Green King pubs/hotels this far north as I thought they were more local to where I live in Cambridgeshire. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best, pub chain hotels I have stayed in.
Food was lovely for pub grub, reasonable portions. We were served by Jake tonight and nothing was too much trouble… even candles for mums cake. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was tables too close to each other… literally could hear the couples conversation next to us .
The restaurant was nice, better than we expected actually. The starters, drinks, and mains were all nice. We both ordered seafood - it was fresh and nice. The salmon was lovely, moist and full of flavour with a nice herb sauce. The fish and chips were good, but a bit on the dry side - could have been better (would give them 4/5). But still overall - all good.
Good value for money. A lot of places tend to overcharge and rip you off with drinks, but we thought the coffee and tea was reasonably priced.
The environment was clean, no crumbs or whatnot left on the chairs and table. Service was good, very attentive and friendly. We never had to call anyone over (some places you can be sat there ages waiting for someone to notice you), drinks and food were delivered quickly and cleared quickly.
Overall we both enjoyed it.

Just a review on the restaurant - Lovely place and great food. Only reason it isn't 5 stars is the restaurant was full so we had to sit bar side, which wasn't an issue, but it did feel like we were a second thought over the guests in the restaurant. Several items being forgot and having to sort out cutlery ourselves. Other than that I would recommend it to friends.
Just returned from a lovely time at the Holmfield Arms and the Festive meal.
It was 3 courses and every course was served at the right interval
and all hot and tasty.
We all had different items off the menu and everyone enjoyed their choice...maybe a little envious of my chocolate fondant etc...!
The team were amazing, giving great service with a smile, even though they were extremely busy!
Thanks for a lovely afternoon x
We traveled to Wakefield from Sunderland for my son’s graduation . We stayed in the hotel which was lovely, Clean and welcoming . We also had drinks on the night of the graduation and breakfast in the bar after check out the next day , again the bar was clean, tidy and welcoming . The food and drinks were lovely and would highly recommend this hotel and pub. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
Five stars from us
What a lovely afternoon/evening. My husband and I went in to cheer ourselves up after a small bit of bad news. The food was absolutely gorgeous and came speedily. Thanls to the attention of Poppy and Paige we were made to feel very valued as it felt like they genuinely wanted to help with any little thing. Would just like to say it is so nice to see good old fasioned customer service 🙂
She was so enthusiastic about the mothers day draw I bought 5 strips of tickets.
Amazing food and at a reasoble price compared to other places.
Outstanding and attentive service from Paige and Polly, who could not do enough to help. We will definitely be back soon 🙂
Traditional pub food. Efficient and attentive staff. Only downside is the car parking. There is some disabled car parking at the top of a steep access road, near the pub's entrance. Parking in the remaining car park involves a walk up a steep, very dark road and down again after your meal. High heels not recommended!
Beautiful large welcoming pub in a beautiful old building. Food for a chain pub was excellent. We were informed of a 30 min wait for food, but didn't feel like we waited at all. The service was quick and very friendly. The outdoor areas looked amazing. Would be great all rugged up on a snowy evening with the twinkling lights. We stumbled across it looking for somewhere to eat on the way home. Would definitely visit again!
