I booked a pod for my birthday dinner and it was perfect! The staff were super friendly and it was amazing service. The food was absolutely delicious, so fresh and the best pub grub. So much better than the usual chain restaurants! This is my favourite pub locally, I just wished I lived even nearer. 100% recommend all year round.

Got here at 11am already very busy parking by the river a pound an hour max stay four hours excellent place for kayaks canoes paddle boards very picturesque. Once finished on the river a old English church on top of the hill travelling through the meadows . A good appetite built up a visit to king's head tea rooms . If you love cakes and scones and a cuppa wow delicious tea served by the pot mug or cup . Plenty of seating laid out in front the river lined with ash pines and willows small snack and drinks bars on main lawn. The service polite waitresses and cashier very helpful and efficient service and quality foods . Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks served a pot of tea £2.95 very reasonable and pot makes two mugs if raining seating inside pods or in main breakfast area. Small criticism is no park for kids to play in and we all know kids want a swing a slide or roundabout while we drink our tea and chat and they shout for a push . I will have lunch at some point and update this post as liked it here very much .

Well-kept beer with fabulous views across the river from the beer garden and terrace. Nice selection of food on the menu. Hidden gem in the Northamptonshire Countryside.

This review is very delayed due to one thing or another but I absolutely had to leave one. I booked a table for approx 20 people for a Thursday evening in early September for a surprise birthday meal and I am so impressed with the service we got from all of the staff, and the food at The Kings Head. This was our first visit here after hearing lots of good things. We provided as many pre-orders ahead of time as possible to help the kitchen on the night, but there were a few people that were unable to get them back to us but it really made no difference - all the food was absolutely gorgeous, so tasty and freshly made, the whole party was so impressed! The staff went above and beyond to make our night amazing - we had a table out on the terrace overlooking the field and canal, and they’d even put up birthday banners and placed candles around which was totally unexpected but was so appreciated and really helped us out on the surprise element of the occasion too! The weather held out for us too which was fantastic, but we were told they’d reserved a space inside for us too in case the weather turned which was great. I honestly can’t express how grateful I am to everyone at The Kings Head for accommodating us and making our evening extra special. We have yet to return, but I know we definitely will do sooner rather than later, and members of our party have already as they enjoyed it so much. Thank you so much to The Kings Head team - you are amazing!

Just had Christmas breakfast with Santa at The Kings Head. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. Took a beautiful stroll by the river and then warmed up with mulled wine and hot chocolates. Then Santa brought personalised presents for the kids and visited them during breakfast. If you have never been before or are just stuck for something to do, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Came here for a birthday. We booked one of the pods and the lovely staff had decorated it with some birthday banners and party poppers before we arrived. The service was excellent, the staff were kind and the attention to detail was great. We had three steaks and two portions of fish and chips. They also brought out some sausages for our dog!! It was all cooked to perfection and the steaks were much bigger than what they stated on the menu! Would recommend coming here all year round. The pod was warm and if we got cold we had temperature control on the heater!

Lovely, lovely afternoon tea. Had this bought for me as a birthday gift, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are now planning to go again. If you try you will not be disappointed. Be aware though that this is an old pub in a very old village situated down a hill. There is no way to access this pub that I could see without using stairs at some point. Even if you are in the tea room (entering from the car park) access is easy but there are steep stairs if you need to use the toilet facilities. So bear this in mind if your mobility is a bit limited. That said it is a lovely well decorated venue which I certainly hope to visit again.

Superb. Perfect for couples, groups and families. They have a a great outdoor space with the river flowing through, so you can lounge out there, dine on many balconies or eat indoors. Lovely coffee and tea shop attached, highly recommend the scones! The food menu is varied and options for all. I really enjoyed a collection of starter dishes, especially the prawns.

We were visiting the area and this location was recommended to us so we tried it out. When we visited there was ample parking. We visited for dinner on a week day evening. The atmosphere was great, entrance was friendly. The staff were extremely informative, not just about the current day and menu but also taking the opportunity to enlighten us on a 'themed pizza' evening once a week. I liked that. They didn't need to be asked for 'of the day' options, they informed us while giving us our menus. The menu contained a good choice and well priced. NOW!!! THE.. FOOD!!!! 🤤 I can't even begin to explain and I don't think I could do them justice by trying. All I'm going to say is FAULTLESS, perfectly seasoned and incredibly cooked!! We did starters and mains and we were both impressed. THE ONION RINGS 😭 ....THE ....CRUNCH 🥳, I ALWAYS give the onion rings to my husband, NOT THIS TIME, oh no, I couldn't, how could I? They were exceptional! Also, the chips, my god, they're wonderful, crispy and fluffy. Although you're an hour from our home, I will 100% be back! Thank you to everyone for our experience!

Seriously regret not having paid them a visit sooner. We used to frequent the tea room when it was in a different spot in the village. We haven’t been across in a few years and aren’t usually pub people, but other half was itching for something to do in a nice location, with the weather. The food - oh boy. It’s been a long time that I’ve actually been, ‘wow’ed by a mouthful. I had the king oyster ‘scallops’ and other half had a burger with chips. The quality of all the ingredients and the way flavours were married - really some of the best food I’ve eaten. Service was friendly and prompt, interior and exterior done to a high standard. This is how you run a pub - it’s clear that the owner cares about what they do and hasn’t skimped on the details. I would say don’t hesitate to pay them a visit, but the tranquil setting does mean we’d rather have it to ourselves! Wonderful experience - we’ll be back.

Popped in for Sunday lunch today, and whilst it was very busy (something to do with the September sun that), we were looked after, and the staff can only be given full marks. Lunch was a lamb roast for one of our parties, and we were pleased to see cauliflower cheese as an option (more full marks) and fish and chips for the other. Both meals were tasty, had plenty and again only full marks can be given. Pudding we both had lemon meringue pie, and again superb (and indeed, recommended). Them came the bill ... very reasonable to say the least. Full marks all round and if that way give them a whirl. Why 4 stars? We can all improve is the simple answer. Will we go back? We will!

All eight of us had an excellent meal at an excellent location. Helpful and friendly staff. Your location is spectacular. Maybe the best chicken Caesar salad I have ever had at a very reasonable price. We all thank you for a great afternoon. Hope to see you again soon.

I use to visit for tea and cake before they moved to the pub garden. The Barn Tea Rooms are an excellent place to take refreshments. They always have a good selection of cakes and you can take tea sitting down by the river. The staff are lovely and service is always with a smile. With the pub attached you can have something stronger with your cake if required. Well recommended to stop in on a cycle ride as we did.

Four of us went there on Sunday for Sunday lunch. It really is a stunning place to go. With gorgeous views down to the river where barges come to visit. Food is very reasonable and is cooked well. Service is superb and they are quick and efficient. The owner walked around keeping an eye on everything as well as we had a chat to her about weddings. For a chilled afternoon lunch I can't recommend this place enough.

The food and service were amazing! Perfect place to catch up with friends! We were sat in the igloos due to the great British summer and they are perfect for all seasons, with the lights and heating/aircon. Heading back to try the Sunday roast next.

This place is very fortunate in that it has a 5 star location. Often when you get a place with great views you find they don't have to try as hard with food or service as there will always be lots of customers. That was not the case here, very friendly and attentive service and good food with good value.
