What a delightful place. Set accross from the Co-op. So you can park in the Co-op car park, use the Entrance by the Arch and visit this most exquisite historical gem.
It has 14 beautifully furnished rooms, each with a signiture style laid out with stunning furniture and beautiful accessories that you can purchase and take with you to style your own home.
Dotted through out the building are rooms with sofas and coffee tables or tables and chairs that you can sit on to enjoy a full on meal or just a tasty treat or a cup of coffee.
Just be sure to visit the counter to place your order and tell them where you are seated so that the wonderful, friendly staff, can bring your order to your table when it is ready.
There is no WiFi password here. Which I think is fantastic because it allows you to unplug and unwind and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.
You can sit in the cosy adults only lounge with a cup of tea and cake or a glass of wine and enjoy a good book in silence, or sit In the dinning room and enjoy a meal with your date, or family or best friend. And actually put your phone away and really talk without the nasty distraction of needing to check your phone.
But please, don't forget to take a few snaps to share with your review to show your appreciation for the staff of this delightful little place as l have done.
And don't forget to bring your wallet to buy something stunning to grace your home or your wardrobe.
But most of all.
Enjoy!
A really lovely place, each room has its own ambience and decor. I celebrated my birthday with a champagne afternoon tea, it was honestly the best one I’ve ever had! I can’t recommend this place enough of you’re visiting Usk treat yourself!
Brilliant cafe with an excellent garden to enjoy delicious tea, coffee, cakes and food. On the upper floors great interior design shopping and for ladies Pre loved design clothes and shoes. Worth your while to have a break at 49 😊
Lovely place for lunch, very pretty garden area and delightful indoor seating. Nice shop too, selling some smellies and other bits. Upstairs seems to be closed ATM.
We only wanted coffee so opted to sit in the garden. The garden was beautiful with little nooks to sit in amongst colourful foliage. The coffee was nicer than take away brands too. It was a large glass and a good price. It is a dog friendly place.
A friend and I went for Sunday morning coffee. We like to scour our local area for nice coffee locations and try somewhere different most weeks. Number 49 had great reviews so we decided to give it a go. The building is on the main street in Usk which has no parking so my advice would be to head past the building on the left hand side and turn left just before the river bridge where you will find plenty of roadside parking. We walked up to the entrance which is on the side of the building and saw some seating there which was a bit old and tatty and ordered coffee. It was only when the owner came up to us and asked why we were not sitting in the garden that we realized the main seating area is at the rear of the building. Wow. What a beautiful garden setting. Lovely seating with plants and bushes all around. Birds love it and are constantly around. It's just a lovely setting. They are also dog friendly and brought water for my little puppy. Will certainly be making a regular visit to this one.
Lovely cafe/shop.
Frantastic food, lovely garden to sit in.
When the sun is out, sat with a lovely coffee what more can you ask for?
Great little coffee shop in the middle of Usk town center.
Great selection of cakes and homemade ice cream.
The staff were very nice and friendly the outside seating area is amazing like a country side magazine showroom.
Coffee and cakes are real tasty..
I often go to Usk its a really nice experience, great location, good walks, nice cafes, number 49 had hot drinks ,lovely homemade cakes, pleasant staff, lovely items for sale on show, outside and loads of seats inside in different quaint rooms, everywhere is nice and clean.
Beautiful venue, great food & coffee and friendly staff 😊.
My only gripe would be the cushions outside - they have several stains on them (both sides) and it was very unsightly.
Very eclectic and pretty shop and cafe spraling occross a few interconnecting properties with a large sun trap out door garden seating area. It was the perfect lunchtime stop on route to our destination. Typical lunch time menu a selection of sadwhichs baggets, baked potatoes etc. The quality was good although a bit pricey for what it was
Just had coffee in a very pretty courtyard. Also bought a dress from the shop upstairs. Shop amazing, with lots of pre-loved designer clothes.
Easy to book over the phone,so when I arrived my details were checked and I was shown to my reserved table. I selected the food that was beautifully presented and delicious.
Free car parking very close to eating area.
Delivery of food was by a masked waiter who was polite and approachable. Covid guidelines were adhered to at all times. One suggestion is that the waiter returns to see if the customer would like a dessert and advise how meal payment takes place to avoid payee wandering from their designated seat.. Thank you for a pleasant stay..
Beautiful lil coffee shop with so many different rooms to explore and a fabulous garden out the back. Absolutely worth a visit 😃 definitely will return 👍
We only stopped in for a tea and coffee.
We were on our way to the Forest of Dean. The staff were very obliging and were very kind to our dog we have a Jack Russell.thank you will definitely call again.
Such a lovely cafe set over various rooms and floor and a terrace. Quite busy, but perfect on a hot day. They were out of a lot of stuff by 4pm ish so had a plain bread toastie with Brie bacon and cranberries which was good but not amazing.
A lovely little cafe with excellent food. Staff are friendly and welcoming
