The staff was very friendly and helpful.. drinks took their time to arrive. Food was OK off the menu but the carvery was a bit dry. The meat was nice but the veg it was like it had been sat there all day. We did eat at 7 pm, but still they should have fresh stuff. Pudding was good 👍

A lovely location and a very substantial menu all very reasonably priced. I went for the faggots, mash and peas. I went for the large portion thinking at the prices it wouldn't be a big portion. How wrong was I, great portion, leaving me no room for dessert. My partner, she orders the Hunters Chicken and again very well cooked and flavoursome. This place is well worth a visit, I will be back

First time I've been here for food and it was great value, the carvery was lovely - one of the best I've had in a long while. Staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely outdoor space for those sunny days (minus the wasps 🙈) and fab play area for kids where they are safe. The atmosphere was lovely too. And pricing was very reasonable! Will definitely be back. 🥰

First time diners at The Swan and it was brilliant. We’d arrived 5 minutes before evening food service started, so we were able to get a table and drinks ordered in time for the carvery to open. Our server, Jo, was amazingly polite and attentive. With no prompting, she offered to get us a highchair for the baby and even grabbed and plate and spoon for him. The food from the carvery was some of the best we’ve had! We decided to have dessert, where I ordered the lemon meringue cheesecake and it was so good. I was absolutely stuffed! We’d very happily recommend the Swan and go back again.

We hadn't booked a table for meal but we were well looked after by the staff. Our four meals were all great value for money and very tasty. Reasonable price for the drinks too. The mixed grill was great.

Visited for a carvery. The food put out is always fresh and cooked beautifully, never dry. They allow you to bring takeaway boxes / are happy to provide them to take the rest of your meal home. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a lovely terrace to the rear to sit and enjoy the sunshine.

If you like a good carvery then you will not be disappointed coming here. Forget the chain carvery, as this is on another level. Great selection of meat (with good-sized portions), wide range of vegetables that certainly don't look or taste frozen. Served piping hot, and if you are not into carvery, there is a good range of meals to select from. It is very popular, so it's best to book in advance so you are able to get a table. Well worth the drive to get here worth a large car park. They do fantastic roast potatoes, parsnips, and a wide selection of vegetables. They always have Dauphinoise potatoes that are cooked perfectly.

If I could give them 10 stars I would ! I was meeting a friend there to break up her long journey from Portsmouth to the Lake District and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish 😊. Communication with Shula the proprietor was marvellous, we received such a warm, friendly welcome in our Motorhomes. Olivia was our server and was soooo helpful finding us a lovely table in the bar ( we had 3 chihuahuas in a buggy with us !) . We both chose the Carvery and it was excellent- the meats on offer were beautifully cooked and the portions were definitely a good size ! There was a huge choice of vegetables and potatoes all freshly prepared - I particularly enjoyed the dauphanoise potatoes and broccoli cheese 😋 No room for pudding but the ones I saw other people eating looked good. The service was excellent throughout and they even gave us a lovely little box of meat scraps for the doggies ❤. THANKYOU to all the team at the Swan !!

Ordered a 16oz rump medium rare. Top 3 rump steaks iv ever had. I usually go for a better cut. But this rump has put some big steak houses to shame. Almost perfectly cooked. Touch rare in the dead centre, but that couldn't be helped for the rest to be medium rare. 10/10.

Lovely place, but not perfect. Plenty of meals to choose from (see photos for menu). We had carvery, chefs have their own idea about what level everything had to be cooked at. Everything ihad was reasonably well cooked. My mom however said the cabbage and the cauliflower cheese was under cooked. This may be down to different cooks and their timings. Plenty of room, there appears to be an upstairs available but the girl I asked about it, couldn't or wouldn't tell me when it opens up. Now the downside, it had two disabled parking places (one incidentally was taken by a service van, as we were the first there, most definitely not customers). Anyway disabled parking is right next to steep steps, this clearly is badly designed. The signs on the fence (photo attached) quite clearly say you have to back down the car park slope (and obviously return up it when you are full), the walk along the lane before heading back to the side passage and back towards the side / back of the pub, before being able to enter via a slope. Trust me not at all ideal if you are pushing a wheelchair, especially not good when using walker if you are very unsteady. My mom used the very steep steps not too bad going down but definitely terrible going up. Also the only disabled toilet was a very long way from where we were sitting. Again not ideal. So as long as you don't have any disabled with you, it seems a lovely place.

Had the lamb kofta for starter, delicious flavor and the 28 day aged beef for main course, stacked on cauliflower cheese and roasted parsnips. The beef melted in your mouth, accompanied with thick gravy and horseradish source, a crispy Yorkshire pudding was the finishing touch for a complete Sunday lunch worth travelling for.

The Very best carvery I have ever been to. The food especially the meat is always superb. The Chef who carves is a credit to your business. He is so friendly and welcoming and makes everyone's day. A very well run business with lovely happy staff and happy customers.
