Was lucky enough to have Sunday Lunch here. Staff very friendly and helpful. Really nice welcome on arriving. We had the roast lamb and roast topside of beef. Both cooked beautifully, nice selection of vegetables and potatoes. Yorkshire pudding to die for. Managed a desert between us. Really nice atmosphere. πŸ˜€

Fantastic old pub and great starr. We went to the Sunshine festival weekender and spent most of the weekend in the Anchor. Good selection of beers and awesome food very reasonably priced too!! The barman James is such a character that he will have you laughing all day. The Sunday dinner is well worth another drive down the M5 for.

We called in for lunch whist staying in the area. We were so impressed we came back for an evening meal. The staff are so friendly and very attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious and there is plenty to choose from on this menu. Highly recommend

Very warm and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The Xmas decor is beautiful. The vegan meal I had, bangers and mash, was delicious. 10 out of 10 from me. I'll definitely go again.

Went in for a pint of Guinness, which incidentally was prepared brilliantly and really hit the spot! Hilarious and entertaining bar staff. Well worth the visit. We didn't eat here, but it's unfair to ruin their food rating as a result, hence the 4 stars.

I came down from Manchester on a boat trip along the Severn. Went in for last orders. Found this a friendly local pub with a good ale selection. 5 or 6 locals left in the bar. I felt welcome into the conversation and loved the atmosphere. Don't know how old the building is but it's definitely been well looked after over the centuries . Highly recommended.

This turned out to be a fabulous choice for lunch. The staff here are very friendly and professional and the service was quick and attentive. A great menu to choose from and the sandwiches we had were very good value. Large and with a decent salad and coleslaw garnish. If you're not very hungry one sandwich is enough for two people. We sat inside but there is a beer garden. This is worth visiting not just for the ambience but also for the experience. Would definitely return if we were in the area again.

I visited from America in March, and I'm still thinking about my wonderful meal. This place is absolutely charming, staff was so helpful and nice, and the food was delicious! I got a very delicious vegan pie, I was blown away by their consideration for dietary restrictions. I hope to eat at this place again someday, cozy by the fire, but if I never do I will always remember how much I loved it and recommend it to everyone who might pass this way!

First time at the pub , food was beautiful I recommend the lasagne I usually leave food (fussy eater!) but this was gorgeous recommended by James (not sure got his name right ) but he was the big friendly bearded South African bloke behind the bar

This is a great real pub serving excellent food. Full of character both decorative and behind the bar! Very comprehensive menu. Efficient and friendly staff. I had the faggots which were superb. Real faggots which is quite rare as so many pubs serve ' faggots ' which are just meat balls. Will certainly visit again.

Holidaying in the Malvern Hills. Have never felt as welcome anywhere like Ye Olde Anchor Inn in Upton on Severn, the Boxer was made very welcome too. Living in Norfolk many of the publicans could learn a little from this establishment, I wish they would set up in Toftwood in our local! Highly recommended !!! Do try !! We will be back πŸ˜€

Very old (17th century) inn which appears to have been built and remained an inn through its history. It looks like a time warp from the outside small and crooked every inch a 'ye olde pub'. Like a building from a Dickens story the image and atmosphere continue inside. There are newer parts to the pub but the atmosphere flows all the way through the building. Once in you know you have been warmly and heartily greeted by James. And whilst all the staff are helpful pleasant and efficient James is larger than life and very engaging, a true character who, along the 'Dickens' theme, could have been drawn by that very author. The pub was very busy midweek lunch time but we were found a table and the wait was not the least disruptive to our day. James 'checked in' to ensure we were ok and engaged in short conversation in passing. Food was good value and portion size enough to leave you full. Steak and kidney pie was home made and full of flavour. With it came chips which were cooked well peas and carrots simply presented. My partner had ham egg and chips. The ham was ok but not the best. Two eggs chips small salad garnish and coleslaw. Now this was about the best we've tasted in a long long time. Home made it was as close to perfect as we've had. So overall food was good value cooked well and with good flavour. Pie was quite small but generally our meal was enough to satisfy us for the rest of the day. With two medium glasses of wine a shandy and coke it all came to Β£24 each. About average cost but above average lunch. James is an undoubted asset who transforms the experience. Given that there truly are more pubs in that small corner of the town than you can shake a stick at ye olde anchor in was the busiest. That says something.
