Highly recommend this place. We stayed for 1 night in their Skye lodge that comes with a hot tub. Room is small which is fine and is also dog friendly at an additional cost. Only downside (weather permitting) is you have to park your car at the pub after dropping your stuff off in the lodge, which is fine as long as it’s not pouring down. Our front door was catching which meant we had to slam it close and push hard to open, it appears the door has dropped judging from the gaps, but still felt warm inside. The hot tub was nice and hot when we got inside and straight forward to use. It was pouring down with rain but the warmth of the hot tub outweighs the rain massively! We booked to have dinner at the pub which is also dog friendly (but make the staff aware prior to booking). All the staff from arriving and coming for dinner were friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. We both had the Welsh rarebit to start and the steak as main. Didn’t have room for dessert as the meals are filling. Very Reasonably priced food. We both slept well, however, would be nice to have firmer pillows (each to their own), the pitch black view and the occasional sound of owls was perfect. For breakfast, we both had a full English, both came with sourdough toast and that was amazing as well. Few towns & villages nearby, with a guide showing you things to do and see. Will be definitely coming back at some point again
We booked out all of the lodges and rooms for us and our family & friends as we got married at the nearby Bredenbury Court Barns.
Charlotte was amazing prior to us arriving at sorting out the bookings as people were staying different lengths of times. I also arranged with her pizza and drinks the night before the wedding which was amazing. Such a good pre-wedding get together with our friends and family. They even catered for our gluten free guests.
We also got the chance to eat in their restaurant one of the nights and the food was absolutely beautiful, can’t fault it!
We had a lot of compliments from our family about the lodges, I know some of our guests made the most of their hot tubs.
Also a shout out to Mark he was incredibly lovely and helpful during our stay!
The only comments I can make is that some outside lighting round the paths to the lodges would be good just when you are walking back from the pub at night.

Absolutely sensational evening meal and yummy breakfast following a comfortable stay in one of the on site lodges. What a hidden treasure this place is! The staff were all fabulous and did I mention the food? Honestly no words to describe how fantastic this place is! We hope to be back again soon!
The food here is incredible. Menu is just the right balance of delicious, intriguing and surprising. Cooked to perfection and such good value for money. I’m sure it will be Michelin starred to the hilt soon. Highly recommend.
I was only passing and stopped for lunch, I can say they had a wide range of drinks available and had a nice but limited menu. I had the cheese souffle as a main from the starters menu, which I add was one of the best, if not the best soufflé I've ever had. If the rest of the food is to this standard then you will not be disappointed.
Warm friendly and relaxed service within the pub. Privacy, total peace and relaxation in the cabins, the hot tubs are incredible, we spent hours in there and slept like babies. Great restaurant and quality food and drinks on offer.
Having passed the location many times over the years, but never at a suitable time to call in. So as a wedding anniversary celebratory meal we decided to make The Baiting House a destination rather than a waypoint.
What a treat it was, the service was exemplary, the food was exquisite.
To manage expectations I must add a note of caution, if you've been digging ditches or doing Ironman try-outs all week you'll be looking for much bigger portion sizes than offered here. However, I feel the meal is best approached as a taste experience rather than a sustenance necessity.
A meal of three courses was no challenge to the waistline but taking time to enjoy each mouthful was rewarded with the flavour of perfectly cooked and presented culinary artistry.
One of the best meals I’ve had. The monkfish was perfectly cooked, the rarebit was ridiculously good, the cheese soufflé was the best soufflé I’ve ever tried and the lemon tart with blackberry sorbet was the perfect finish. The service was great too, the manager clearly knew everything that was going on at all times but it never felt like you were being watched - it was such a well run service.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they got a star one day. The food was seriously that good.
We stayed at Baiting House last night for our friends wedding, just up the road. We had a gathering the night before with the bridal party and everyone was so well looked after. The bedrooms are really comfortable, spacious and well equipped for a cuppa after a long day! Some of our friends stayed in the lodges and they sounded fantastic. Recommend all round.
One of the best meals I ever had and certainly the best pub meal I ever had.
The service was exemplary. The food outstanding....would make a 2 hour detour to eat here again!!
You will not be disappointed
We dined here for the first time this evening. The food was incredible, but what stood out even more was the exceptional staff. Their attentive service enhanced the experience, all set in a beautifully located venue. Highly recommended.

We didn’t stay over but to review the pub food - absolutely excellent. Wonderful cooking and a great range of options, in a friendly and relaxed but stylish atmosphere. Bring cash for a tip - on our visit service wasn’t included on the bill!
