For the second year I have celebrated my birthday here with my family. What a brilliant place. The staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. As there were 13 of us, we sat in the conservatory which was warm and cosy. The food was above average, and best of all, we were all served together. I would recommend The Roaches Tearooms to anyone wanting good hot food and excellent service.
I've been a customer of the roaches tea rooms for about 7 years now, I'm a hiker and I was introduced to the tea rooms from that. The food is always top notch and fresh. Excellent value too. I have also taken friends and family over the years who also make the tea rooms a regular stop. I'm never disappointed!
Great coffee fantastic cakes and the best view I’ve ever seen from a tea room
Lovely food with a fab view. Prompt service. Highly recommend.

Thank you for good food, great service, fav view ❤️ I’m here with my friends and it’s such a great time here 😍
Just got home from a wonderful weekend stay at the smithy holiday cottage with my sister and our children. Couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome from Karen, perfect set up for our young families, comfortable rooms, a well equipped kitchen and plenty of space for the kids to run around outside. We'll be back!
The home made burger was fantastic. Excellent service with beautiful views.
Lovely afternoon tea here as a birthday treat from my family, such a lot of choice of sandwiches and cakes! Very enjoyable!
Visited yesterday for lunch, with my children and sister, after a walk to Lud Church. The soup, served with warm bread, was delicious and the Bakewell tart was very nice too. The kids enjoyed their (huge) double oatcakes. Only downside was that it was raining so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful view.
Excellent could not fault the service or food will be going again
After a fantastic day trip, hiking from Hen Cloud to Bearstone Rock and back we came to the Roaches tea room for some food.
We found some place outside, which is fine as we have had our dog with us, they are not allowed inside, but the weather was beautiful, so no problems at all. Actually we could still enjoy the view 👍.
Food was served quite quickly and the portion size was more than satisfying for a really reasonable price. Actually I would have expected more.
I have had chicken breast with creamy sauce, with garlic, mushroom and it was deliciously finished with herbs and boiled new potatoes or chunky chips
It was very nice and I couldn't finish the portion.
We have also been given for free, carrot with butter and herbs and cauliflower & broccoli backed with cheese.
The staff was very friendly, cleanliness in the whole restaurant and the toilet was also on a good level.
If I will be in the area again, I would definitely come back here again and will happily recommend this place to anyone else.
Wonderful little tearoom in the peak district. The scones were lovely and warm with great texture. Could have done with a little more jam as only one small pot was given compared to the large amount of cream. I'd recommend the rocky road also. My partner had the full English with oatcakes and this was a really good portion and very tasty.
What a wonderful haven! A perfect pitstop reward after a long walk. Delicious menu (oatcakes are fantastic and fresh), huge selection of yummy cakes and great cups of tea. All topped off with friendly staff and an amazing view! Couldn't recommend more highly.
Lovely and peaceful place for a snack after a long walk along the Roaches. Warm scone and cake washed down by a coffee, lovely!
Great location & views.
Fantastic amount of home cooked food & cakes. You can eat in or take it home....or both if you're greedy like me😉 Friendly staff!
Our lunchtime lunch order was delicious and arrived quickly.
The menu was quite extensive and also a large gluten-free section.
The views across the valley were beautiful.
We didn't make a reservation, but judging by the number of reserved tables, I would say it may be a good idea.
The best breakfast we’ve ever had. So delicious. The oatcakes were fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view is stunning. Highly recommended
Excellent as always. Today was a lunch stop on cycle ride around roaches. Spiced ginger cake and coffee. Stunning location.
10/10
I cannot fault this place. Excellent food huge servings and such lovely pleasant. Staff the views are pretty good too thankyou Roaches tea rooms for another great meal
After a small hike along the Roaches, this is the perfect place for a re-fuel. We had tea & fruit scones, of which there was quite a choice. If you want to know, I’m a cream first kinda guy, where Mrs O will only ever go Jam first, but I digress.
Friendly, good choice of food & snacks and clean roomy toilets. Parking is available, this really is the ideal place to start and finish a hike.
Fantastic find this cafe. Shame about the parking ticket when I got back to the car which cost the same as our meal! A car left a space so I thought I could park there. Seems I should have parked in front of the cafe or paid £2 to park in the field.
Love this place. Hen Cloud, The Roaches and Luds Church is a great walk and these Tea Rooms always serve lovely food and a pleasant service.
Even do vegan and gluten free etc.
I highly recommend this place, rain or shine.
Food is very nice and service is quick. The young man who took our order has been really polite and made us feel welcome. Definitely recommend to stop here for lunch or a quick break.
Great views, parking on site before walking the Roaches . Only had tea & cake but tasty & fresh.Main meals looked good so will visit again. Inside & outside tables & seating. Staff good but busy at weekends.
Lots of choice on the menu, but limited vegetarian, however, we ended up with great food!
Custard was watery, but then they replaced with cream :)
Lovely place, very helpful staff! Only thing I marked it down for was my coffee was a little over bitter and considering I had a flat white which is a small drink it was about 10mm below the rim so I felt a little shortchanged.
But I would highly recommend every time and if after this review they'll have me back I will be!
Nice food, friendly staff and great views from the cafe. Great for parking also as it's £2 all day :)
We had an afternoon tea. It was the best afternoon tea we have had. The service was outstanding, and the waitress was friendly and very pleasant. The views were out of this world. We are planning our next visit.
