Visited January 24. Reopened under new owners on Xmas eve. Drinks only at the moment but food to follow shortly (once the leaky roof repairs are finished!). Really nice couple and a lovely pub. Deserves to do well as the area needs another pub. Very dog friendly. Pop in and show your support.

Had a group of 8, all had a pie or roast and we loved the food! The espresso machine didn’t work when we were there so we didn’t have any unfortunately It’s a dog friendly place and there were a few dogs about Good parking space which was great Bit confused about the pies and the fact that they come with mash potato but you can change them to fries? Wasn’t that clear on the menu

We were led to this place by a sign on the side of the road. A great find. The food was cooked to high standard and the ingredients are very fresh. My steak was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his lamb shank. My son ordered the Cumberland sausage, which he polished off with no help. My daughteris liked her fish and chips. Food sat comfortably in our stomach. Pets and kids friendly. Staff were very friendly. The price is reasonable.

Lovely village pub. Massively dog friendly. Waitress was so friendly and made a fuss of us and our dogs. Food was really fresh and great portion sizes but above all tasty. Great use of seasonal foods. It was a busy night for a Monday and in Covid-19 times meant the staff had a lot to do with running the bar/food orders and up and down the stairs to deliver service. Did really well to manage it all so successfully.

For the third time we have had a better than average evening meal. The food really is top nosh, I had belly pork with all the trimmings. Good beers and ales too. Staff are friendly and under the circumstances are respectful of your space. Plenty of room between tables.

Staying in the accommodation. Peaceful location, beautiful room, comfy king size bed, good size en suite and dog friendly! Now the food.... AMAZING! No other word for it, never has my mouth been so alive with flavour. Definitely recommend!

We'd arrived 3:30pm on a Saturday after a long walk in the lakes wanting some hot food to warm us up. The lady behind the bar said that they weren't serving until 5pm... The chef then came over and said it's ok, I'll make an exception and served us two wonderful burgers with onion rings, chunky chips and salad. 2 pints of very good beer, and we were very happy. Superb service and food, thank you very much guys!!

The pub has recently changed hands so maybe look at the more recent reviews. This is a great find. Staff are very welcoming and good fun. Excellent drinks selection. Food is served until 8pm - giant portions so come hungry! The food is well cooked and presented, there are a few veggie options as well. Dog friendly for those that are wondering and it has a pool table. Highly recommended.

Currently under new management. Food has a continental flavour with some very good French dishes. Friendly staff. Nicely decorated rooms. Accommodation available upstairs also.

We were staying a house with a river in the back a short way up the road, so location was terrific. Staff very polite and accommodating. The food... well, presentation was astounding. The good thing, tasted as good as it looked!
