We got there early and already people waiting but no need to worry the staff were super efficient and food was served quickly. We shared the seafood platter and it was amazing! The only downside was that next time I’m not sharing! We travelled from Aviemore just to go there and so worth it!! Can’t wait to go back!!
Great place for the best and freshest seafood, will always make a point to visit when I'm in around Ullapool
A gem of a find. We didn’t fancy eating in any of the pubs in Ullapool so called twice here on our way back through town. Delicious fresh seafood menu that changes daily and reasonable prices. Highly recommended! Sea trout and oat crumbed mackerel were amazing.
Absolutely delicious! great menu choice. If you’re doing the NC500 this’ll be the best you’ll eat on the route. Great set up.
Loved there was a gin bar while we waited shame it was a small plastic cup only negative.
Overall the seafood shack is a great place to eat although there is limited table space and you can either sit on the benches provided until a table becomes available.
If you have kids that are fussy eaters it is probably not the best place to take them.
The food is delicious and well worth a try.
I gave it four stars because the staff could be more inviting and engaging, I give credit to the fact they are busy and are working really hard but it does feel like you are just being processed.
There is good background music to help with the atmosphere of the place and covered area provides a nice environment.
If you love seafood, you'll love the shack. We had the langoustines cooked in a garlic and thyme butter, which can only be described as liquid gold which I spread generously on my piece of bread. The spicy fish soup was a little disappointing and tasted more like a curry lacking in the fish taste. Nice place but I think it also needs more areas to eat under the tarp especially for the Scottish weather.
Great food and great service. They only have outside tables so if the weather gods are smiling it is glorious. We both had the Cullen Skink and the Tempura Haddock Wrap and we were stuffed when we finished them off. It is a busy little place but people are coming and going so a table space will open up soon.
The fish wrap is delicious and fresh ! The herring and smoked trout too!
And remember to order the soup !
But the oysters and langoustine run out fast ! Best to go early if you want them specifically
We came to this place after seeing some good reviews on google maps. We were passing through Ullapool for the nc500 so we made a stop and came here. They were nearly closing soon and were still quite busy. We ordered 2 haddock wraps from their menu and it took a while to make as it was busy. About half an hour later I went up to the counter to ask about my order and they said someone came and collected the order as their system is number based. After telling them me waited a while they made us one straight away. It was very delicious and worth the price that you are paying for. Highly recommend👏🏽
Came because of our hotel reception’s recommendation and the highly rated reviews, and we weren’t disappointed! We tried the tempura haddock wrap, spicy fish soup and pickled herring salad, and OMG.. we couldn’t get enough of them. As a result we forgot to take pictures 😊. The queue was long, as warned in prior reviews. BTW great gin & tonic offered by the sister store there.
A stunning little spot in Ullapool, serving great daily specials and local produce. Catch it on a sunny day, and it a perfect lunch spot to enjoy fresh food and a view over the bay. Enjoyed their Ullapool smoked trout with potato salad, and it was lush. And dog friendly
Best place to eat seafood on the NC500. Staff are the wives of the local fisherman and cook the daily catch, so the menu is different every day. Open from 12 noon, but arrive earlier as queueing starts at 11:45. Very good value. They have produced their own cookbook - perfect gift for foodie-friends. I visited twice during my stay and enjoyed both visits.
