Priory Cafe is the heart of Tynemouth for me. The food is topnotch homecooking. The pastry is light and delicious. The staff are warm and friendly , but non- intrusive ( I can sit an for hours writing or reading ). I now have a serious peanut meringue addiction: they are as big as your head and reduce you to groans of pleasure . I took a tray to a birthday drink in Newcastle and people fell on them with whimpers of delight.

Super friendly lad serving at the counter, the corned beef pie was lush as were the home made chips. Really enjoyed my lunch. I will be back with my hubby next time!

Cute quirky little cafe, not far from sea front. Nice decor inside, staff friendly They do all day breakfast, which we had, I had a sausage sarnie and my friend full English. When we ordered we were told it would be 10 minutes, which we were fine with, however it took nearly 25 minutes. We would have been happy to wait 25 minutes as we knew food is cooked to order, they just had to say that it would be 25 minutes. (This why I knocked a star off). If they said 25 mins when ordering, i would have given five stars When food arrived it was fresh, amd tasted great. We ordered tea and hot chocolate after, the flapjack was super tasty and you could tell this was made today.

I love Tynemouth, but sometimes I think it's too touristy. This is a cafe that has been around for a long time and is loved by the locals. It's relaxing for me to have only nice local customers and staff. The cake is also delicious. It's a cafe that I want to stay here forever.

We sat outside in the sun, food and cappuccino were delicious, and they had some amazing looking chocolate meringues and cake to buy. I unfortunately didn't have any, but the rest of the family tucked in and enjoyed them. So thumbs up. Thanks. Would go again.

The food here is very good indeed, though the service is always a little slow and seems a little chaotic. I must stress though that the food is of a very good standard and well worth a visit if you are in the area. It was the third time we had been yesterday and it wasn’t massively busy, but the wait of others was quite long. Please do go and help support local as they I am sure are also busy with take away orders as well.

What a lovely friendly place. We popped in for a cooked breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Very farmhouse kitchen set out. Homely, you feel like your almost family by the time you leave. They couldn't do enough for us. We needed to change some things we didn't like in our meal, it wasn't a problem for them. We also bought some home made cakes to take away, yum😋 I think it would also be nice to go here for an afternoon tea. Lovely atmosphere.

This place is a hidden gem. We went all along the high street in Tynemouth trying to find somewhere that had not recently been done up and was not too extortionate and eventually came across this place round a side street. FANTASTIC! Excellent food; great atmosphere and decor; a huge pot of tea for two and great vegetarian all day breakfasts. To cap it all off ... this was on a Sunday!

Really lovely family-run spot for a casual breakfast/lunch/cake n' coffee! Always an amazing smell wafting out of the kitchen from the homemade food, and the large tables and relaxed atmosphere make it a great place to sit down to get some work done on weekdays.

Very nice cafe. Lots of tables were reserved but we managed to get a seat. Had a cuppa and a fruit scone, warm from the oven. Good choice on menu, lots of vegan/veggie options. Would definitely recommend

Had a delicious cooked breakfast here this morning. Everything was cooked fresh to order and the portion size was very generous. The sweetcorn fritters were particularly good. Also liked the fact that my tea was served in a china cup with a proper teapot. Can thoroughly recommend.
