Real gem of a place . Beautiful views from a lovely ground floor room with its own terrace. Ideal place to bring the dog, who was welcomed in the restaurant for an evening meal and breakfast
Stayed one night after a delivery in Holyhead . The room was very nice. Warm room and comfy bed , staff were very good , the jewel in the crown was the food ! Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Would definitely go again and recommend. Thanks
We called up last minute to double check that they had space, catered for children and welcomed dogs. Indeed they do. So we popped along with our three children 7, 10 and 10. We were welcomed and sat down by a young male waiter who was friendly and chatty with the children. My partner and I both ordered lamb shoulder and the portion was spot onabd it was cooked to perfection, we both polished it off. Two children shared an adult fish and chips which we asked if we could split between them, they all enjoyed their meals and we polished off with trickle puss all-round. Not a morsel left on any plate, which when you have a son as fussy as I do I think is good going!
The service got slower as they got busier, they were struggling to keep it up but then the smiles were still there on the staff and they were friendly and working very hard. I gather they're quite new to the pub so probably sussing out the seasons etc. Anyway, I'll be taking my parents later this week so hopefully it will be as tastey then!
Lovely place, very cosy and welcoming. The staff were very professional, warm and friendly. The food was excellent, great variety on the menu and value for money.
I'd highly recommend the Groes Inn if you're in the vicinity.
We booked in advance for a party of 12, including a toddler, to celebrate a special birthday. The staff were very accommodating, offering a special vegetarian option to suit three of our party and giving us a choice of where we would like to sit. The menu had plenty of choice and the meals were very well prepared and presented. The steaks looked lovely, but I chose the chicken and chorizo pie, which I would highly recommend, as it came with a good selection of beautifully cooked seasonal vegetables, a delicious sauce and lovely light pie crust. This is a classic country hotel, serving carefully prepared meals, and excellent service, for which you do need to pay a little extra, but I did not think the prices were unreasonable. If you are looking for cheap cook-chill pub grub, you might like to go somewhere different.
Absolutely lovely place menu fantastic food to die for service second to none dogs were welcomed with open arms we book here every time we holiday in our caravan in the area we will be going again at least twice before we go home well done the Groes!!!
Live fairly locally and have visited regularly. It had gone down hill slightly when it was on the market. Popped in for a sandwich yesterday on the way home from a walk. It was warm and friendly and food was excellent. Six of us are now going there for dinner this week. Looks like it's back to its best under the new ownership.
Visited for the light lunch menu and it was lovely food. Excellent value for money and really tasty. Lovely rump steak, chips and sauce. Staff were so friendly and very attentive. Really lovely beer garden too, with superb views. Will definitely be back!
Stayed for my husbands 40th, we had a mountain view, dinner bed and breakfast deal (buy directly from The Groes you'll receive a £10 voucher to spend on food and drink!) Great value for money!
Firstly, all of the staff are lovely!!
The room was great, HUGE bed, they had decorated the room to celebrate my husbands birthday and left a birthday card, was a really thoughtful touch.
All the food we had during our stay was delicious, couldn't fault a thing.
We will definitely be going back when we want to relax and unwind. Thank you to everyone at The Groes, keep doing what you're doing
Date of visit: 19th-20th October 2023
Hotel: great room with a huge bed. Beautiful balcony with an amazing view of the mountains in the Conwy Valley.
Location: beautiful country setting approximately 3 miles from Conwy town centre. Quiet and peaceful setting that resulted in a great night’s sleep.
Staff: very friendly, polite and professional. It was my birthday and they left a birthday card in my room and decorated it with banners.
Evening meal:
Gammon, egg and chips. A good old fashioned meal done very well. Really enjoyed it.
Breakfast: traditional full English breakfast - spot on!
Visited for Sunday Lunch whilst visiting our son and daughter in law who live nearby.
We had the Sunday sharing lunch would highly recommend absolutely beautiful , with unlimited Yorkshire puds and gravy.
Staff were very attentive and the place has a lovely warm atmosphere, will definitely be returning on our future visits.
Classic country pub & inn. We walked in for dinner on a Friday night without reservation, staff were friendly and we were seated right away. Cosy, pleasant family friendly atmosphere and a section where people can bring their dog in.
Food was nice, traditional pub fare.
Parking outside is a bit tight, there is more across the road.
Had a lovely meal here , looked up good places to eat on Google maps, and this caught our eye. We all enjoyed our meals ,I and my husband had the light bits, either two courses for £12.95 or three courses for £16.95 . We'll worth it. You do get loads, considering it is lighter bits!! . We found plate sizer where the same as our sons, and they went for standard meals.
Staff was very short on footfall ,poor lady was left on her own ,she did excellent 👏 👌 though why extra staff could not be called in to help I do not know,as when staff came in on shift later they all seemed like they would have help her ? . But all in all, lovely meal pleasant pub, nice friendly atmosphere .
A wonderful pub. The staff were so friendly, we went in on a Sunday without a booking with my pregnant friend. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. All staff were very friendly and considerate. We were sat outside to begin with (the view is incredible) and it started to rain, staff hurried to find a table indoors for us. Food was excellent. Wish this was my local.
We used the restaurant of this Inn. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great quality and good value for money. It was do good we visited for meals twice during our week in the area. Would happily recommend.
Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
Room was fine, but we were glad it wasn't hot as difficult to get airflow from the windows.
Bathroom a bit tired, but the shower was amazing, but over quite a high sided bath.
Food good, breakfast excellent.
We had a very enjoyable stay.
My husband and I loved this beautiful inn. We had excellent
service, particularly from Rachel, who served us breakfast in the morning. She is one of a kind in friendliness, professionalism and excellence. I highly recommend staying at this wonderful property.
Our third or fourth visit as family live only 5 miles away and we LOVE it! In a lovely position and a welcoming feel from the quaint building and staff. The food is always delicious with a varied menu. Already looking forward to our next stay.
Popped in for some lunch having completed a walk around Conwy mountain yesterday. We were made to feel welcome immediately by the staff who were polite, helpful and informative. I had the burger stack while my wife had the cheese and onion pie, both were served very quickly and I have to say that it was as good a meal as we have eaten for some time.
Very pleased to visit a restaurant who doesn’t insist on foisting Brioche buns onto the public when they decide to order a burger !
Will definitely return !
A great location to see a Bronze Age mine, take a cable car or train, walk on a pier, visit castles. I recommend their restaurant. Their leg of lamb was beyond delicious.
Absolutely brilliant! Staff wonderful, nothing was to much trouble for anyone to help if we needed it, from the manager to housekeeping and everyone with a smile. Food delicious!!! Would highly recommend!!!!
Went here for a birthday lunch whilst staying in nearby Rowen. Between mid-day and 5pm there is a special menu of 2 or 3 courses for a set amount. Choice is good. A la carte menu is substantial. Very good food nicely presented. Service is wonderful, friendly, humorous and with a welcome smile. Good fun washad by all 4 of us.
Lovely pub/rooms. Rooms are tastefully decorated, warm and spacious with good facilities (we even had a cafetiere with coffee). Shower was excellent. Only problem was noise as other guests walked past our ground floor room. Views are stunning. Pub food is delicious with a great breakfast menu too. Staff were very attentive. Good location for walking or trips out. Will definitely visit again.
An incredible place to eat. Options can cater to lactose intolerance, vegan and gluten free.
The staff were so polite, respectful and friendly. Our meal was excellent (Sunday roast sharer with a pint of ale, followed by cake, vegan ice-cream and coffee). Not a bad word to say. Prices are reasonable (£50ish for us both), and considering the level of service and amazing food I would say they are excellent! Highly recommended, and not to be missed if you are in the area.
