Not having been here for many a year, I was very impressed with the improvements to the pub. It feels updated but still retains much of its previous charm. I visited on a Thursday so I was pleased that a jazz band was playing. I sat in the garden but I was still able to enjoy the music and still have a conversation.

Excellent local. This is a proper pub without any pretentiousness, just the traditional values of good beer, great pub grub and extremely friendly service. The prices are also very reasonable and it is deservedly popular. Well done!

We had the most amazing home cooked meals at a very reasonable price šŸ˜‹. My belly is full because there was no way I could leave one scrap of food on the plate, it was delicious. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Couldnā€™t not leave a review, although we didnā€™t visit the pub. On our way to take my unwell one year old daughter to Winchester hospital she vomited all over herself and her car seat, the nearest place we could pull in was the pub car park where we attempted to clean everything up. The pub gave us tub of hot soapy water and a disposable cloth, brought out bin bags to help line the car seat and showed us incredible hospitality and made us feel like it was no trouble at all in a very stressful situation. Didnā€™t catch the girls name who was helping us, but she was a medical student and was so lovely. Just wanted to leave a review because I canā€™t express enough how much this kindness meant to us, especially when we werenā€™t customers of the pub in the first place. Thank you so much!

We love this pub when we're out walking. Food is extremely well priced and always good. Their treacle tart is now the benchmark for my husband

What an amazingly friendly local pub, thank you to Milo šŸ¶ and his dad for welcoming us on our first visit, and then two evenings with lovely meals afterwards. Great food, friendly staff, I wish we lived nearer. We'll be back for a Winchester Christmas Market break šŸ˜€

Lovely old pub food quality very good and different to the usual pub grub. It also has a couple of function areas which get a lot of use.

Went for an evening meal whilst visiting the area. Very friendly reception, our dog was well received and given a treat, which always goes down well with him. Food was delivered quickly, hot, well presented and tasty. Service was friendly and quick, nice atmosphere. Reasonably sized car park. Only 10 mins out from Winchester and we will definitely return when visiting in the future. Recommended.

One of the last proper boozers. Just adults out enjoying a drink without any of that food nonsense. Good staff and friendly atmosphere. This is what pubs are supposed to be like
