Without a doubt the best Indian food I have ever had. The prawns were incredible, the lamb mouthwatering. Great food and lovely staff. Could not ask for more!
We popped in here on our way to another restaurant and I'm certainly glad we did. This place is my new favourite Indian - amazing food, friendly staff and a brilliant all round experience.
If you're in the area, check it out. I can't recommend 'Tangawizi' highly enough. We'll definitely be back.
I visited last night, and it was excellent. The food was delicious , the service was really good, and the atmosphere was really nice. Brilliant!!! I'll be definitely back again and can only highly recommend!
We went on 2nd November for my birthday and the food and service were top notch. We'll definitely be back.
Have been coming for years. First class every time. Tender lamb chops & buttery light naans particularly recommended.
A firm favourite for many years. Unique and delicious food, welcoming staff who treat you like friends, and great location. Highly recommended!
Love this place!....always great food and great service...
Incredible, delicious, wholesome Indian and North African food
Consistently great food - lovely restaurant and service.
This place is amazing! The food was cooked to perfection, and the service was second to none. Loved my experience here. Thank you
Great food and service ...i rate it as the best indian food going here since last 4 yrs...
Boss! See you again (&again!) Matt #EFC
Ambiance was incredible, the food scrumptious and the service exceptional! A must visit.
Food was fab, didn't wait to long for it to be served either. Lovely little restaurant very nicely done out, would definitely go again, very soon I hope.
Beautiful Ambiance, Phenomenal service, Clean, homely, fantastic decor, delicious food, Service with a smile. Awesome restaurant
Dont miss this one if you enjoy Indian cuisine. Starter platter is a must to try. All of the dishes were flavourful and light, very contemporary Indian cuisine, hardly a drop of grease or oil in sight. Presentation was modern, atmosphere was lively yet intimate. Service attentive and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back soon.
Love this place. Excellent food, fast and attentive service. Can't wait to go back!
Nice owners good service and good atmosphere. Much more classy food than your average curry house. Try the starter platter to wet appetite and then enjoy selecting from a good collection of mains.
The odd-sounding name means “Ginger” in Swahili (the owners are Kenyan Asians), and the restaurant is just on the Twickenham side of Richmond bridge. The dining room is narrow and long, and in late 2010 underwent a welcome minor refurbishment, which has removed some of the rough edges from the original decor. Waiters are dressed in smart uniforms and the service is efficient and friendly. The menu mixes the familiar with the more ambitious, so you have chicken jalfrezi alongside monkfish curry. The key is the cooking team. At the opening this is where the chef from the ill-fated but excellent Yatra went though he has now moved on, and the sole head chef now is tandoor chef from the famous Bhukara in Delhi. In all, three chefs serve the dining room, which can accommodate up to 60 diners.
I have now had numerous meals here and tried many of the menu options. The cooking here is consistently excellent, whether it be tandoori dishes (I even had tandoori duck once), the treatment of vegetables (bhindi is well handled) or main course curries. The naan bread at my last meal was particularly fine, as light and fluffy as you could wish for. The kitchen has a charcoal tandoor as well as a gas-fired tandoor, which is more work for the kicthen but imparts an extra dimension of flavour to the bread which you get in restaurants in India, where charcoal tandoors are much more common. Main course curries can be very rich, but that is about the only minor flaw. Overall this is some of the best Indian cooking in London.
Absolutely outstanding dinner experience from the first minute entering the restaurant and till the end.
Immaculate and very attentive but not intrusive service.
Quiet (although the restaurant was full), and relaxing atmosphere.
And food! Oh, it was like I never ate Indian food. Tasty, tasty, tasty. Warming and comforting.
I came as I was very tired and sad. Didn’t have any energy to cook (I live very close to this restaurant), and thought just provide some self-care to myself. I didn’t expect that I will leave nurtured and uplifted in my mood.
And the menu is very affordable with very good portions.
Amazing experience. Thank you.
Great food and service. The street food is great, I would eat that whole section just for dinner! Lamb was great and tender and service was attentive and quick. The Naans are also delicious and a great portion size!
I've been coming here for almost 15 years and if anything, each time I visit, it's even better than I remember. Always such a treat to meet Al, Moustafa and team, and the food is unbelievably good. Let the staff order for you and you won't be disappointed. This is a must visit if you're in the area. Oh and do try the King Cobra! Amazing
Attended the food after enjoying the rugby. Had chili lamb and it was divine, perfectly spicy and the lamb was juicy and tender. Customer service was exceptional, would highly recommend.
Having been a regular at this fine restaurant I noted with more than a little surprise that someone considered the staff to be rude. This is far from the case, they are welcoming and the food is beautifully cooked and presented. My advice to people who make unfounded, negative comments is to at least book a table and, maybe even cosider ordering some food.
Went here for my birthday for a curry, and they were absolutley amazing! We've had our share of curries and the food here was absolutley top notch. On top of that the service was wonderful, friendly and prompt. Mustafa served us and he was very friendly and professional. Will definitely be back when I am in the area again.
It was one of the best meals I've had for a long time. I had the seafood special curry it was superb. My friends had bikinis and were very happy.
We randomly ended up here waiting for the bus and it turned out to be a good experience. The food was good and well presented. The taste of garlic Naan which we were missing from quite sometime was finally found here. The ambience was good and the staff was very friendly. Little bit expensive but you get what you expected.
Recommended for vegetarian options.
One of the best Indian meals I’ve had in ages- everything was flavorful and perfectly fresh. Excellent service, too. 10/10- order the coconut lamb!
Such an amazing experience tonight for a special birthday. The staff went above and beyond which was an added bonus to the amazing food! Thanks Mustafa for the great service! Can’t wait to return!
Best curry in Richmond, had the coconut lamb and coconut fish curries, which were amazing. All of the starters are also declisous and impeccably plated, you can really tell they care about their foods quality. Naan is also fantastic, probably being the best naan bread I have had at curry house.
Portion size wise they have very decent portions, you will want to share a rice & between 3 people I would recommend sharing two curries ( unless your particually famished 😄)
A perfect place for a pre rugby match meal. Lovely friendly atmosphere and delicious food. We will happily return and enjoy this restaurant again.
Food was lovely. Lamb dish very tender. Served in what looked like breakfast cereal bowls which I thought was poor.
Naan bread was to die for though. Pricey for what it is, but enjoyed the meal.
1st time and definitely not last! Lovely service and even better food.

I dined their last night after not having been there for many years and I was not disappointed. We shared pop a doms with the delicious freshly made mint sauce and chutneys.
I then enjoyed the Madafi tiger prawns cooked in coconut, tomato, chilli & coriander sauce accompanied with rice.
The cocktails were lush. Myself and my friend had the passionfruit mojito, the raspberry Cosmopolitan, Margarita and the Indian Bling which was brandy, sparling wine and caramel served in a champagne class; it looked gold and made me feel like a classy diner sipping it slowly.
The service was first class. The waiters and owner were very welcoming and friendly and the food was very reasonably priced. We decor was fresh and I liked the smell of the insence sticks burning.
It was North Indian food at it's best and the three of us will definately be back for more. Thank you Tangawizi.
Good food we had the Jingi Coco king prawn starter and shared a lamb sagwala main with a rice, garlic naan bread and an aubergine vegetable dish with a kulfi sweet. With a couple of friends and quite a lot of wine it was a good evening out.
Very tasty food, diligent service, and a great overall atmosphere in the restaurant. The best Indian restaurant in Twickenham, can’t recommend highly enough!
One of the finest and authentic Indian restaurant. Nicely maintained interior and well trained staff. Food taste like homemade food. Must try dishes are chicken tikka, lamb biryani, matar paneer. They have also good variety of drinks options. If going with more then four people then must try option is thali which have both vegetarian and non-veg option, thali gives a great option to try mutiple Tangwazi dishes. Also they serve #halal meat except duck dishes. #localguide
