We were a party of 8, for a birthday and the evening combined fresh, unfussy but beautifully presented food, with interesting flavours and locally-sourced, high quality ingredients. They can tell you not just how the lamb is cooked and what it is served with, but about the (local) farm it came from. I had the catch of the day, and it tasted very, very fresh. There is a wine list has been carefully chosen; everything gives the impression of being carefully chosen. The desserts were works of art, and we had dessert wine to go with them. Our party had almost all different choices for each course, but everything was served pretty much together. The atmosphere was lively, but the food was the star. I'm already planning going again.

I cannot recommend this place enough, the food is always absolutely amazing, fresh and most importantly Cornish! Having spend my birthday evening celebrating last evening I was treated like a queen, all of the staff we so attentive and lovely little birthday treats just kept coming throughout the evening! Thankyou again for a faultless experience!

Four of us visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. Never been before, not been recommended , we just went on a whim. From the outside you'd think it was small local boozer.....inside it's gorgeous. A warm welcome, a comfortable lounge to sit in, good service and great food. It's like a tardis....much bigger than expected and beautifully decorated. And a huge tick in the box for me is a kitchen that you can see into. Clean, clearly well organised and chefs working with no drama. The staff were lovely, friendly, attentive and happy to have a laugh. How have I never found this pub before? Thank goodness I've found it now.

Came in February for my partners birthday and everything was stunning! We have been a couple of times before and we can’t fault the place. Managed to cater for a large party with absolutely no issues. Food was fantastic and waiting staff friendly and attentive. Had a fabulous evening!

Thanks Tom and your fantastic staff for taking care and going the extra mile. St. George's staff Christmas diner was out of this world. The individual place names with each guests menu choice was quite unique. 24 happy diners. Only complaint is, your beer still gives me a hangover, going to ration myself to 6 pints in future. Thanks again guys, we'll be back.

January 2017. Outstanding Sunday lunch served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good size portions of tender roast beef with a home made horseradish sauce and enormous Yorkshire Puddings. Plenty of vegetables served with a great Mornay sauce. The chef provided an excellent cheese board on request and there followed a detailed discussion with the waitress regarding the choice of Port. Surprisingly she suggested a dark, sweet Sherry, which was an excellent choice.

Always a fantastic meal, and never disappoints. Somewhere you must book for - they always seem to be full; which is always a good sign.

We are from West Yorks and was visiting our friends who recommended The Rising Sun. We certainly wasn't disappointed. This a lovely Pub and wish it was on our doorstep! Our meals were delicious and can certainly recommend the Moules Mariniere! Staff are so friendly and very welcoming. Good luck to the young lady who's first night it was on Friday. You'll do great! Will be popping in again next time we are down, which won't be too long!

Just had Sunday lunch for 9 people. Excellent service, reasonably priced menu and absolutely the most delicious roast we have had for a long time. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would not hesitate to recommend.

I have been to the Rising Sun multiple times for drinks but last week finally we went there for a date night. We had a lovely seating. The service was outstanding. But the highlight was the food. It started with the outstanding parmesan and chorizo bread rolls which were so delicious. We then ordered the scallops for starters - which was fresh, and delicious. For mains, we had the duck and 10-hr lamb. Both were outstanding but we were in love with the lamb. For dessert, we went with the trifle. Each dish was delicious. We had tried multiple times to book a Sunday roast here but for our lack of prior planning, we thought a dinner would be a good idea and we were absolutely right!!

Rated as Truro's best pub/restaurant. It was my first ever visit, and I completely agree! Fab food and ale in the historic pub with a great ambience. If you haven't been before, I can recommend the seasonal mussels for a start followed by roast lamb with all the trimmings. Excellent food quality and generous portions for the money too. I will be back!

Surprisingly for a local pub they offer a fine dine , with a delicious menu . Tiny garden 🪴 however well and efficient layout with a well needed heaters . The pub itself it’s a low ceiling beams , gloomy tradition type rooms , relatively small. Fine wines, more then an usual offering number of two . Beverage of a few ales ( not local , unfortunately)and Italian draft beer 🍺. We had a starter of oysters 🦪 made an unusual way( see pictures) tasty 👅 though. Cheesy chips 🍟 one of favourite well prepared. Will definitely pay a visit again. 😉🙏😊

Our first visit to the Rising Sun and a special occasion to celebrate our anniversary. Wow! It was stunning. The best meal we’d had for a very long time. Service outstanding. Food inventive and mouth watering. Atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back. The extra touches the staff did to mark our anniversary definitely went above and beyond. Thank you to all the team at The Rising Sun.

An excellent Sunday Lunch , the tenderest slow cooked pork and lamb , six different fresh veg ( some a little al-dente ), Cauliflower with separate cheese sauce was good, crispy Yorkshire Pud ( not charged but have to ask ), good roasties . Loved the home made ice cream as well. Chose the Rising Sun for its consistently high reviews and wasn’t disappointed.

This is one of our favourite places to eat. The staff are so lovely and relaxed, the food is probably the best in Truro and it's always a great atmosphere. The only tiny niggle, this time the music was a bit loud for us. Other than that, a must visit pub/restaurant. 😋😋😋😋😋

A lovely interior and atmosphere and absolutely superb (if pricey) food. I had some stonking homemade bread, followed by a scallops-based starter, a loin of beef main course and a chocolate fondant for pudding. Normally I can't manage three courses but the portion sizes are perfect (and I hadn't eaten all day).

ate here a year ago and last night. Standard is still high, much better than standard pub food. Friendly and welcoming. Decent wine and ales too, which is why I can't remember what it all cost.

Amazing Sunday lunch. The lamb was perfect as was the spinach wellington. Eat in the garden on a mild October day. Survive was friendly and make a great meal all the better for it.

Amazing roast lamb lunch + a brownie, malt milk ice-cream with pouring cream ( do you really need it, um, maybe indulge yourself 🫣) was the best pud I've tasted in an age! Service was slightly but it was Sunday best enjoy it all. ❤️

My friend and I visited here a couple of weeks ago quite by chance and although it was just fish and chips, it was cooked beautifully with the best tasting tartare sauce I’ve ever had! The wonderful thing about this pub….is that it’s only half an hour away from me! This will be my go to whenever I visit Truro. 🤗

Fab place, a little hidden gem. We took our two Frenchy's and ate lunch in the courtyard. Food was top class my husband had Fish and Chips and I had the ploughman's, both delicious. 😋

Spectacular food in a historic pub. Portions were generous and the food was excellent, with seabass in caviar sauce being a standout dish for me personally. Service is very friendly and attentive, but I must call out that front of house just feels a little understaffed. Given the fair prices and general passion for delivering a good experience that is a minor issue and the gastropub is worth traveling to as we did.

We had an absolutely lovely meal recently at The Rising Sun. Both the pub and dining room are warm, cozy and welcoming with a wonderful old English pub feel. There were two of us having dinner and our food was excellent. We had the ribeye steak and duck; both of which tasted amazing and were very generous portion sizes. We were also impressed with the local sourcing ethos of the restaurant. I'd encourage making a reservation as the dining room is quite small and very popular.

Fantastic food and lovely pub! Was a bit disappointed to see the children's menu consisting of fish and chips, scampi and chips etc. However, the childrens meals were very good and a lot of effort had gone into them. Would definitely go again
