We went in after going on a walk and it was a really welcoming atmosphere. The ginger cake was very very good and the cherry cheese cake ice cream was heavenly! Most of if not all of the food is homemade and the selection is cakes is amazing! Definitely recommend visiting for a little sit down and eat. It is very cosy!

Lovely tea room with a cosy atmosphere. Log fire burning and a unique decor. Food was served quickly and very nice followed by cakes which were such big portions we struggled to finish. Very good value for money.

After hiking from Ambleside to Troutbeck we found this little cafe on our route. A nice cup of tea for me and a coffee for the wife. I usually go for a sausage sandwich but I noticed they had soup of the day so I'd thought I'd try that. The soup was home made vegetable and lentil soup with sour dough bread. THE BEST vegetable soup I've ever eaten. The soup was nice and thick, the vegetables were plentiful. Just delicious 😋

Fantastic little cafe, wish we'd have tried it sooner. Cosy, warm & friendly atmosphere. Food was spot on & cakes were to die for. 💯 recommended if you're in the area.

Great for a small snack stop in the afternoon! Truly isolated with amazing views. A cute fire and great red squirrel memorabilia! We had some delicious cakes and nice coffee’s to match. Staff were notably nice and friendly - will certainly come again!

We were planning to go to the pub but were so glad we stopped here. It was fantastic. Owners and staff couldn't have been more helpful (especially when we left a bag behind) and the sandwiches and cake were delicious. Minestrone soup and chocolate brownie in particular. Cosy, welcoming atmosphere and a mecca for runners/riders too.

Decided to stop off at this fabulous place, after returning from Wansfell Pike (a chap we passed on our walk, told us of how good the bacon sandwiches were!) So we thought we'd give it a try and I'm glad we did! The set up is lovely and very cosy, with the fire gently roaring in the background. Lots of things to look at and admire, and situated in a great location! Luckily there were some gluten free cakes available, so we had a piece of the gluten free carrot cake and then a piece of the Zesty Lemon cake... amazing!!! One of the best slices of lemons cake I've ever had, not to mention a brill hot chocolate! Would highly recommend if you're coming back off a long walk and fancy a bite to eat, or a coffee and a bit of cake after a walk well done! Many thanks to you! 😊👍🏻

Loved the warm, homemade scones with cream and jam, pot of tea for two, and ice cream. Great place to stop after a visit to Townsend or a walk in the hills

Within walking distance from the cottage we are staying in and have driven past The Old Post Office Tearoom daily. Today we are having an end of holiday relaxing day before a 7-8 drive home tomorrow. We thought we should at least give this lovely looking tearoom a visit before we left the lakes and I must say it's always busy, that tells you something. We weren't disappointed with our visit today, a hot sausage roll, toasted fruit bun, flat white coffee and peppermint tea were very enjoyable and prices were good too. The tearoom is bigger than it looks, seating both inside and out. Full of old collectables and some local art work for sale. Very clean, friendly staff and dog friendly too. No toilet. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area and to all hikers and holiday makers.
