This is somewhere my partner and 13 year old son hadn't been fly fishing. They where keen to try it out. The location is breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful scenery. The staff where very welcoming and showed my other half the best spots for fishing. They where tackled up and ready to fish by 10am. We spend all day at the lake, my other half only caught one trout all day, it was tiny. To small to keep. My son who's not very experienced but not bad for a 13 year old, didn't catch anything. He was so disappointed, he always catches something when he goes fishing, but not on this occasion. The location is stunning but sadly not so good for fishing.
EDIT - My partner and son went back 2 months later but this time with spinner rods in the hope they would catch something.. not one bite, nothing. The lack of other anglers says it all. A waste of money, we won't be going back.
We came here as a recommendation from a friend - stunning place! Amazing views, peaceful and charming. We got soup and sandwiches that were delicious (photos). Went for a 30 minute mini-hike over the mount to swim in a lake. Got a piece of cake on our way back (most had already sold out!). Super recommended. The owners are kind and friendly!
What an absolute joy. A beautiful lake side view with delicious home made cake and sandwiches on artisan bread. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Be careful not to miss the entrance if you're following the lake anticlockwise as the sign faces the other way and the entrance is behind you on the left. They take card payments.
Our adventures yesterday led us to into the less travelled parts of Eryri in an attempt to avoid the pomp of the day. I've not been to this particular spot for years.
We arrived to find the cafe open and decided to stay a while as it as peaceful and the kind of place you can literally feel yourself uncoil and decompress just standing there watching the ripples on the lake. Now, ripples mean fish, and I was pretty much ready to wade in and start trying to catch stuff with my teeth after hearing a few stories. I really miss getting out fishing in a quiet spot like this, 'rona broke the habit for me and I want to get back in there when I can now. It's time to renew that ticket next week I think!
We also made a new friend, Boo the Ginger Boi! He hustled me for both of the cat treats I habitually carry in my bag and chased off a curious dog like it wasn't 6x his size 😂
It's a bit of a trek, but we'll be back again soon 😸
Lovely café with very friendly staff and nice milkshakes! Great view too.
Gorgeous views of the lake. We arrived just before lunch on a quiet October morning. We both had hot chocolates, Brie and bacon sandwiches and a slice of their fabulous cake
A beautiful and peaceful spot, out of season. The road access is very steep and narrow.
Lovely friendly cafe doing drinks, cakes, sandwiches, etc
The lady that runs this cafe is so down to earth, friendly, jolly and charming she is worth the walk alone! She is also delightful with children. The rustic homemade cakes are absolutely delicious. As for the tea, well, it puts Betty's tea rooms of harrogate to shame. Big farmhouse teapots with the most delicious crisp tasting tea I have ever tasted. I was reliably told that it was down to the local spring water. Throw in the remote lake side views and tranquillity, and this cafe is absolute heaven. Can't wait to come back
Lovely lakeside cafe with freshly made food in a peaceful fantastic location. The two lady server's where very polite and friendly.
Had soup and sandwich, the homemade soup was a LARGE bowl which fresh and hot,the artisan cheese and ham sandwich on crusty fresh bread was beautiful which wasn't shy on the cheese and lots of proper ham not the packet stuff .
Well what an absolute gem of a place. The staff are wonderful. The owner is absolutely fabulous. Reading some reviews I half expected her to come out of the cafe dressed as Doris day in fluffy mules carrying a rolling pin 🤣 slightly disappointed she wasn't but we didn't get shouted at once. Food is wonderful only surpassed by the view. If you want a good old fashioned tea house with home made cake and Artisan bread sandwiches this is the place for you. If you want to question why you can't swim or canoe in a protected lake and risk getting told off if you do then definately don't visit. Well done Carolyn and team you have our hearts and tummies and we can't wait to come and visit you again. ❤️
What a gem of a place and all homemade cakes. Sat outside on the bank of Llyn Crafnant such a stunning place to enjoy tea and cakes after a lovely walk around the lake. We will definitely be back!
Stunning setting, the views are amazing. Really friendly warm welcome, really nice tea cakes and ice cream. will be visiting again soon thank you
Brilliant. Lovely friendly family, nothing is ever too much trouble. They go all out to ensure your fishing is undisturbed and the fishery is well run all together. Not had much chance to sample the Cafe but have it on good authority that it is amazing. Absolutely beautiful setting at Llyn Crafnant. My youngest daughters first time fishing this evening. Im sure we will be coming again seeing as she caught 4!! Thanks again :)
Glad it was open on a glorious day. The Sandwiches are home made cake are really good. Linked with the view and great service it easily justifies its price.
5 ⭐️. Lovely location, friendly and very approachable staff. Nothing is much trouble. Car park is not massive, but spacious enough ( for a £1.00 )
Lovely little dog friendly Café in an idyllic setting. Homemade cakes to die for with excellent coffee. Only open Saturday and Sunday most of the year except for summer holidays! Wonderful place though! ❤️❤️❤️
Gorgeous little spot, run by a lovely family! Perfect for a spot of tea and a cake. Very quiet when we were there, but imagine that it gets very busy in summer
