A delightful, delicious and beautiful place for lunch. Calm and relaxed atmosphere, fantastic small plate food, interesting and very reasonable wine list and attentive and knowledgeable staff. Really interesting food utilising a few carefully thought out ingredients. Does that hard thing of making tasty food look easy. Would highly recommend.

Five stars all round! Second visit here all the way from Manchester. Absolutely love it, the menu, the values, the ambiance, the service. The food is exceptional, delicious flavours using fantastic ingredients, a lot locally sourced… we had a selection of smaller plates ranging from butterflied mackerel to lamb chops and potato salad. And the staff are amazing, a genuine good vibe throughout the place. Thanks for another great night!

Came in with my parents whilst they visited for the day. None of us are veggies but we all really appreciated the ethics and the "No Bull Rules". It made the whole experience that much more worth while. We were served by the lovely blonde waitress (never caught her name) and she was brilliant. Very friendly and helpful explaining to non vegetarian people the menu and ingredients we'd never heard of! And as for the menu, brilliant. I'm not a veggie myself, in fact I love my meat and the whole veggie movement missed me, but the food was better than any burger or standard meal I'd normally have for lunch . I had a dish which was brilliantly presented and tasted amazing. Thanks to the waitress and the chefs for a nice afternoon with my parents!!

I ate dinner here yesterday after seeing their ethics and Insta account. It's gorgeous - go! I had 2 small plates, the lobster bisque (heaven) and monk fish curry (delicious). I ordered a side of potatoes too, which were slightly undercooked and overdressed (I'm a fan of just buttered potatoes). I tried their apple and cardamom shrub but it wasn't cardamomy enough (I couldn't taste it). Despite those minor flaws, supporting a place like this is so important because it sets a benchmark for future dining - sourcing locally, organically, supporting British farmers, paying and accommodating staff. Hospitality is freaking hard. We eat out more than ever before so it's time we put our money where our mouths are; perhaps eat out less frequently and choose excellent places. Our choices ricochet through the food chain. Choose well!

Beautiful vegan lunch from a non-vegan restaurant. Everything was perfect from the beer to the food to the service. Can’t wait to return. Completely delicious. Thank you 🌱

It was my first visit to the Bull as a birthday treat with a friend who lives locally. Delicious food, with so much flavour in every bite. We chose two small plates each and dessert from a menu of many good fresh options. The service and atmosphere was great too. Thank you.

Excellent service, delicious organic locally sourced food. The menu changes daily subject to available produce. We chose 3 starters between two of us which were equivalent to 2 main courses because we could decide which ones to choose. Great decision!

I have just returned from a 3 day stay at The Bull with 3 friends. It is our 2nd visit. The hotel is very individual and I love that about it. I did, however, found the plaster walls very depressing especially arriving on a wet afternoon.. I genuinely thought my room was awaiting the decorators. It was a shame because the general ambience of the hotel is far from depressing. The staff are a joy. The meals are creative and delicious. Maybe milk offered on arrival would be a good idea?? Although it's willingly provided on asking it's a trip back down the stairs after a long journey that could be avoided. The Bull definitely has that magic that is hard to define. The thought of another trip would bring great joy.

I can't understand the trend for stripping out all soft furnishings in pubs and restaurants so that they become loud and echo-ey. Too expensive for what's on offer, although well executed and presented. All that's balanced by a really interesting wine list, so all is not lost

Outstanding food, especially the starters. I’d go for two starter courses over a main course. Each element on the plate tastes unique, with the fish being my go to. A nice crisp Portuguese vinho verde to go with it. A real treat in a town full of pubs with below par food. Book ahead for supper. Bring your credit card if you want the full experience.

Beautiful place for an afternoon drink in the sun or a evening meal. The food is delicious, the staff are delightful and the service is delivered with a smile and a true sense of generosity. Highly recommended for anyone local to Totnes or passing through!

Found this place whilst wandering round a quiet bank holiday Monday Totnes. Had a quick look at google reviews and gave it a go. Really happy we did, we (2 adults, 2 children) had a delicious lunch of 9 small plates (with some bread/focaccia on the side) and not only was it plenty of food, the quality was fantastic. A good sign was that it was busy and got busier whilst we ate, the staff were lovely and when the wine my wife chose was the only 1 unavailable they brought her 2 alternatives to try before she ordered another. Give this inn/restaurant a go (if you can get a table).

Amazingly good food including veggie and plant based options at The Bull. I like the way they encourage people to eat plant based by putting these options first. They clearly take a lot of care with how they source supplies. Everything I ate was fresh and full of carefully curated flavours! My second time in Totnes in 9 months and my second time in The Bull Inn! I'll be back.

Located at the top of Totnes high Street with limited parking. Serves a good pint with rustic tables. Did not sample the food, will return to do this in the future.

We booked in for lunch on recommendation from a friend. We were so excited about all the amazing dishes, we decided to share all our dishes. I tasted things I have never had before. Every dish was bursting with flavour and some serious skill and love went into the cooking. I recommend this place above any others in the area. The service was also really warm and attentive. We will be back!
