It's a good old fashioned Indian restaurant. The food is good quality and freshly cooked. The service can be great but also sometimes a little bit dismissive. I was shocked going twice in a short space of time recently - the prices had almost doubled overnight (admittedly they were low before). Also the portion sizes for side dishes had radically diminished in the restaurant from previous visits. On balance I would recommend it - but for me it's too expensive now.

What an incredible place to eat!! Staff are warm friendly and relaxed. Great that it’s 5 star hygiene rating. I have eaten both in the restaurant and take away. Both occasions were absolutely beautiful dishes. The take away I had coriander lamb and I could literally cut it with a plastic fork, it was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing!!! The naan bread is cooked traditional in a clay oven and is amazing overall I would highly recommend this place for a true taste of Indian cuisine.

Such a fantastic place with great food and an extremely hard work family who own the place. I was delighted to see Cafe Mumbai get nominated for Asian Restaurant of the Year (South West) at the 2023 Curry Awards. I hope they win. The pashwari naan is superb plus the consistency of the curries is second to none. This is a great place to go if you want a high quality curry by people who care.

Cafe Mumbai is a lovely restaurant tucked in Totnes. It was open on a Sunday contrary to many places. It is a popular place. The food is delicious ( I recommend Mango Lassi, Chana Laow, Chapati, Garlic Naan and Paneer dishes.) Veg pakoras weren't great. I took away one star because the place is small and gets crowded quickly ( I recommend you book.). Also, the service could improve a little bit : one of our waiters kept asking us "Is that all you ordered?" when serving our food. It makes it a little bit stressful to have to mull over what we ordered even though another waitress wrote everything down. Another waiter also took forever to bring the bill so we had to go up an ask another waitress. Overall a great cafe that can improve on small details. Keep up the good work!

Brilliant service. We were trying to place an order online but PayPal wasn't working for us, we'd given up and were going to, reluctantly, try somewhere else but the lady rang us and sorted it all out. Can't beat that service. The feller behind the counter was friendly and chatty and there was a lovely atmosphere in there, clearly popular. And the food was soooo good, we tried the new ones, I can definitely see why. We just keep going back.

Stunning food Home style menu, traditional specials on the board that included hake and salmon. The best naans I have ever tasted. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

The food has improved MASSIVELY recently. It's absolutely delicious and always ready on time, with a menu which seems to be growing- and loads of vegetarian options. I'm a coeliac and they are one of the very few places I trust. They are scrupulous at making sure no gluten contaminates my food. The customer service is great.
