We love this place. Visit on a regular basis.
We have gotten to know the owners over the last three years. They are very welcoming and make you feel part of the family. It's their home and comes with a lot of character and charm.
Food is absolutely outstanding. Always well cooked and fresh. The prices are spot on. It's not over the top and is well worth every penny.
Due to it being so popular, it's advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment 😞. Service can sometimes be slow but the food is well worth the wait.
Highly recommend for a visit.
What a lovely place! Old-fashioned charm with good home cooking. We were a party of 8 plus 3 young children out for a late afternoon hot dinner and everyone was amply catered for.
2 of us "found" the place on a motorcycle ride in summer. We had a lunchtime light meal which was also great and whilst in the area, decided to come back. We weren't disappointed!
I give this 5 stars for the scones alone. Never had a better scone anywhere (and I've tried quite a few!!)
It's very popular, so I assume the other food is pretty good too.
Note: cash and bank transfer only. No card payments of any sort.
At busy times, you'll need to book or you may be disappointed.
Called here after visiting gisborne forest

Another fab time here great food, lovely owners nothing too much trouble, such a lovely place to eat, great menu and very good value. Joe and Emmaline enjoy your holiday you deserve it. See you in May.
What a little gem! Managed to visit on last day of our hols, as it had been closed for their own holidays. Booked table hoping for a good old Sunday roast, but had sold out - and I'm not surprised! Luckily, all other options tickled our taste buds and struggled to make a choice. Went with pan fried salmon with new potatoes and veg. My little mumsy went for slow roast BBQ ribs with salad and potatoes. The decor is old cottage English, which some may find a tad twee, but it's fitting, warm, cosy, friendly and clean. Lovely touches such as quizzes and games on each table to entertain you, whilst food cooked.
I was already impressed with the large and extremely tasty cafetiere of coffee and pot of tea with extra pot of hot water, and then the food arrived!! My, what a scrumptious array!! My salmon was served with new potatoes, with separate serving of 7 varieties of veg! I was in heaven. Too many times, vegetables are served as though more precious than gold, the odd baton or floret artfully arranged. Not here, proper home cooking at its best. Mum couldn't manage all her ribs, and unusually I was unable to help out!
After few games, drinks and catch our breath, we risked ordering a pudding - sticky toffee with ice-cream. Just the one between us, as despite being stuffed, couldn't leave without one! As with everything else, delish.
The staff were absolutely brilliant too, taking time to chat and not hurrying us, despite being late booking.
In fairness, the only complaint was we were only able to squeeze in one visit!! Thank you all so much x
The Old Vicarage at Tosside is, in normal times a lovely restaurant/bistro set in a delightfully bucolic setting with spectacular views across the Ribble Valley to Ingleborough and beyond. However it cannot open normally in these Covid times, so it has reinvented itself as a gate side take-away with great success. The menu is basic but delightful (see my photos) and wholesome. Stop at the gate, read the menu, phone your order and wait. It wasn’t long before the food was delivered to us. Ideal for passing walkers, cyclists or oldies like us who sat in the car in the restaurant car park and the food was brought to us whilst we enjoyed the beautiful view. The food was basic cafe food, but well cooked, well presented and all served on recyclable plates etc, with friendly service. Excellent.
There are no toilet facilities available at the moment.
Large choice of food.
Good portion size, prices are acceptable.
Plenty of seating both inside and out.
Dogs are welcome.
Fabulous place - we had the cheese pie and Seabass, there was a little wait as it was cooked not heated - and it was well worth that wait. Both were beautiful.
You can sit in or out - and you’ll need to pay by cash or bank transfer - no cards. The prices are very good for what you get.
Beautiful surrounding scenery and views, old fashioned characterful decor (reminded me of long past family homes), lovely service - nice people.
Great experience - well recommended.
