I can't recommend this place enough, we had a few drinks on the first night, followed by a well deserved pint after our lovely wet walk to Coniston and the hills. The landlady was fantastic and offered to dry our clothes when we came for dinner later on, it was a very thoughtful and kind gesture, which I took her up on! The food was beautiful and the best steak I've had in along time. The dog loves the open fire! The locals were fab and chatty and we will be back. Love Helen, Mark and Lottie Dots xx
We dined on a unscheduled stop there yesterday. Like the previous reviewer we had to wait, but that was our choice and we had not booked. The delay was minimal, the food excellent, the beer choice was two cask ales and the Theakston's XB was in perfect condition. I found the staff very welcoming. I would happily keep on returning, if in the area. To the two front of counter staff, thank you for a very good meal and beers.
Fabulous, in every way possible. Room, food, log fire, beer, staff... all amazing.
Quite possibly the best burger my hubby has ever eaten and believe me he takes some pleasing! Compliments to your chef, all our meals were delicious.
Now trying to figure out how to make Minty Lamb Henry! We don't get away often and you made this years holiday perfect! Thanks guys.
Great place for a drink and a lovely meal. Visited many times over the past 3yrs and always look forward to it. Would definitely recommend. 🍺🍽
We enjoyed an excellent overnight stay for our Anniversary at Church House Inn. We had a very warm & friendly welcome. We spent a relaxed evening sitting snug beside a roaring fire chatting with staff & locals. Food & drink could not be faulted before retiring to our spacious, comfortable, cozy room. Our visit ended with a hearty breakfast, the biggest I have ever had! Many thanks to all the staff. We'll be back regularly & we can highly recommend this quirky, warm & welcoming country Inn.
Great place staff were friendly food was great and room great bed was really comfy would definitely recommend
Lovely pub, great food and friendly staff - one of the best steaks I've ever eaten! We'll definitely be back :-)
Uniquely stunning little place!! Beautiful food, great walks straight on the doorstep, very friendly staff.....So warm and cosy.....just perfect. Thank you
What more can you ask for a pub that's really friendly and welcoming? Does good food and drink, loves dogs with room for our little motorhome on their camp site.
This is my hubby's idea of heaven. Campsite, beer garden, and pub all within a 20-meter stroll. Brilliant.
Absolutely lovely! Loved the food, service, bed, breakfast and bar food. There was nothing wrong with our stay this weekend and would recommend to everyone.
Partner booked this for my birthday weekend. It was so cozy and we had a great time!
The owner Mark was so helpful and got the hot tub ready for us the first night and showed us how to use everything over the weekend.
Everything we needed and a nice location for walking and enjoying the peace and quiet 🥰
Campervan and awning, £25 a night with elec hookup. Great spot lovely small quiet site on a walkway to Coniston 2.5 miles. Toilets and shower all in. Really helpful owner.
Lovely little place. We stayed in the glamping pod with the hot tub! It was lovely and warm despite the weather outside. Once we understood how to heat up the hot tub is was lush! Mark met us on arrival and kept us filled up on fire wood 😊
Quiet spot good host well worth paying a visit in caravan or cabin.
Lovely host Julie, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely room, comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Would visit again if this way . Great location... close to Lake Coniston and 30 mins drive to Windermere ...both a must to visit
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay ..
Oh and dog friendly too, our lab loved it
Found this great little site in Torver village south lakes. Great location for Coniston Old Man and Coniston Lake. Plenty of walks direct from this site which was pointed out by the owner Mark on check in. Also a local bus stop directly outside the camp gates. The site is excellently priced for the amenities, electric hook up hard standing, hot shower never seemed to run cold which was a real bonus from other sites. Stayed in October but if in summer months would have had made use of the pub garden with ample picnic benches and seating.
Overall a great site with the full intentions of returning in the future. Thanks Mark
Stayed in the glamping pod our first night which was lovely. It was exceptionally clean, well equipped with a few added extras. The hot tub was great and Mark was very kind sorting it all out for us. Our second night we were in the Inn. Again the room was spotless with everything you needed. The location is great, we did a nice walk into Coniston and got the Coniston Launch back to Torver Jetty.
We arrived at Saturday lunchtime unannounced. There were 13 of us and three dogs.
The food was fabulous. I had fish and chips, it was freshly cooked, hot and so tasty. Other people had burgers and they looked amazing.
Lots of parking available, looks like there is a small hard standing campsite too.
The dogs were welcomed and given treats.
Would absolutely go back again when we're in the area.
Very lovely place nice and quiet brilliant facilities and would definatly return infact we are doing in 3 weeks time, cannot say enough about the owners very nice people and so welcoming thanks for a great stay
Just back from an amazing week at this campsite!
The owner Mark was welcoming, friendly and helpful (when we found we had forgotten our electric lead! 🙈) The site itself is stunning, quiet and very laid back. The surrounding area is full of beautiful sights and walks...and Coniston, a few miles down the road has lots to offer.
We will definitely visit this site again!!
Thank you Church House Inn for a truly wonderful week!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Scott, Debs and our Border Collies xxx
Booked for a week. Wanted to stay longer.
Clean quiet site.
Friendly owner very helpful.
Shame about the pub being closed it would do good business if only for the campers and b+b.
Pity the other pub took all the business away. Nice pub though just a shame not enough business for both.
Would come again.
Stayed on the caravan site. Lovely quiet site. Small facilities, but clean and plenty of hot water. Very friendly helpful owner. Definitely recommend for a great visit to Coniston area.
Mark very helpful, very laid back site. Shame the pub is currently closed, however knowing this we will just take extra food for the evening meals next time, we will definitely be back.
Perfect if you’re looking for a cosy little uneven natural little campsite with lovely toilet and shower - the shower has amazing water pressure and you can regulate the temp (perfect after a cold walk in the fells!!)
Lovely quaint place. Small and 'cosy atmosphere with a well sized beer garden.
The staff were all lovely on my visit. Very friendly and chatty.
The food was delicious, although I cannot speak for the entire menu as I only went twice. Not the cheapest but still good value for money
There is a £5 limit on cards- something to bear in mind.
Fantastic food and lovely staff. Very generous portions and their Sunday roast was one of the best we've had in a pub. Dogs welcome with a beautiful dog walk out the back along the disused railway line. Couldn't recommend highly enough!!
Lovely venue. Easy to find. Spotlessly clean. Wood Fired hot tub amazing. Mark (the owner) had it heating for our arrival. Lovely wee extras...wine being one of them. The Wilson Arms across the road does lovely food and drinks, you have to pre book. Bring a torch if you plan to venture over. Communication from Mark exemplary. We will definitely be returning.
What a Gem lovely service and a great place to visit. Next time we will be coming with the kids. Such peace and lovely scenes.
Not the best place we stayed in during our road trip. The b n b is only doing rooms and the rest of the pub/hotel is closed. Room was spotless and it has a good comfy bed but the view from the window is a camp site and a few mobile homes. Felt like entering a youth hostel then entering a nice room. Also against it is the fact that there are no places to eat in Torver, or walk to, unless you want to wander round the camp site, so you really are just staying in a room in a place with limited services.
