We're on holiday in Torquay for a week and had our first holiday evening meal here this evening.
The pub is really lovley. Cosy decor and great atmosphere. Tables are well laid out so it doesn't feel too crowded even when it got busier.
The food was excellent and goos value for money considering the quality. We enjoyed a truffle shuffle burger, mexican fiesta pizza, kids mac n cheese with fries which was all really tasty and well cooked.
Then a bakewell tart, chocolate brownie (both served with amazing icecream!) and chocolate cherry creme brulee with homemade shortbread which were all delicious. The brulee was particularly good.
But what really made it was the outstanding service from Adam. Polite, friendly, warm and welcoming. Just the right amount of pleasant conversation to make us feel comfortable but not encroached upon. Very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and happy to answer multiple questions from our talkative 13yo :). Service was quick (but not too quick) and our food was all piping hot when served . He was efficient and could see he was handling several tables but doing it all seemingly effortlessly! We were really impressed.
Unknown to us, our son left a small toy behind when we left and they even called us to let us know they had found it and kept it safe for us to go and collect.
We had a really enjoyable time here and will be returning for sure before we go home. Would recommend to anyone in the area!
I've been to this pub many of times I have had drinks have play their pub quiz and had a laugh.. however food I can't recommend as I don't like anything on their menu it's great if u like burgers chips etc. I prefer a pub to have a normal pub menu where everything don't come with chips and u get a choice... I've never seen the kents as of yet do a curry or a stew which would be nice now we are coming into winter. Just something a little different would be nice to see... A good pub for a quiz and polite staff always to serve drinks.
Went for Sunday lunch. Lovely meal. Well cooked. Lovely meat & lovely choice of vegetables. Would definitely recommend! Thank you 😊
Nice, friendly pub located in Wellswood, Torquay.
Varied menu - we went for the homemade beef burgers, which were of very good quality, and really filling. If building your own burger appeals to you there is a wide variety of extras and cheeses you can add.
Wish they hadn't been so filling in a way, as would have loved to try one of the desserts on the menu.
Good range of cocktails and flavoured botanicals as well. Loved the signed, framed John Cleese 'The Germans' sketch from Fawlty Towers on one of the pub's walls.

Popped in after a visit to Kents Cavern. Friendly staff were very welcoming. The pub is light & modern with good music. We were lucky to visit on a Thursday where there was a special on Tapas & Cocktails. My partner ordered the vegan mushrooms & gyozas with a strawberry Collins & Woo Woo Cocktails. I ordered the New York deli steak burger & my daughter the ribs (is a chefs special which should be part of the menu). The ribs came out as a mountain, they were plentiful. All food was cooked to perfection. The New York burger is similar in taste to a Salt Beef sandwich. The mushrooms with the vegan garlic mayo & gyozas were excellent. For dessert we ordered the Brownie & Ice cream (both vegan) & the Cream Brulee cheese cake (again a chef special which really should be on the main menu - it was delicious). The pub itself is very clean & has plug/USB sockets at the tables which is fantastic for travellers. Parking locally is good with many free spots if you can get one. Anywhere we visit now will be compared to the standards set here 10/10
I popped in with my family today after a long walk. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was superb. Very good for the price. I had the Hoisin Duck chips, daughter 1 had the ribeye steak, daughter 2 hed ceasar salad, and my partner had the Hoisin Duck pizza. All were more than pleased. Even took exesss foosld away in takeaway boxes. Just finished the pizza and was still tasty. I'm so glad we discovered The Kents and will my goto for food whenever in Torquay.
The waiter I had was friendly and helpful, and the food was absolutely amazing. My husband and I had pork steak with vegetables and was yummy. Would recommend to vist because it was well worth a visit .

Surprisingly fancy decor in the restaurant and delicious burgers that come with great chips, sauce and crispy onion shreds. Very nice toilets too
We fancied a coffee in Me and Mrs Jones but they were shut! Decided to pop into the Kent's for the first time. And....the rugby was on...Japan v S. Africa. So we had a coffee and watched...hoping Japan would win! Nice pub. Friendly, good service, good decor and they were getting geared up for Sunday roasts. Nice touch as well.....copious amounts of free peanuts on the bar......yeah!
Met up with my friend Sheila here yesterday evening for dinner and a drink. I had the Mussels and they were Lush. They have an offer on The Gin also. Buy a double and you get the mixer free. A big thank you to Tasha and Harry who were our waiters. You are both amazing. If going here, don't forget to book as it does get very busy 😊

Comfortable pub with a good range of beers. Nice garden area.
Took my girlfriend for her 25th birthday. The service was quality, food was delicious and we didn’t have to wait long to be served or have the food delivered to our table. Would recommend, especially on their 2-4-1 burger Wednesdays!
