Fantastic place plenty on the menu,steak was the best, staff friendly the chef come to the table and asked if the steak was to our liking, would definitely recommend this place will return next time we in Torquay don't know if I could tackle the 64onz steak

Not a scrap leff on anyone's plates! Ribs were to die for and my little boy polished off the burger and chips, which was a really good portion size! Waitress was also lovely! Would definitely recommend if you are in Torquay and want some meat! :-)
Wow wat a place, enjoyed an amazing meal here to celebrate 2 birthdays, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, food was delicious & even got complimentary birthday shots !!

We really could not fault this place. Food plentiful tasty and so well cooked. Great atmosphere and the service was superb. Not the cheapest place in town but well worth the money. Looking forward to coming back one day soon 👍

Been in many times since CEJ first opened - fab visit every time and never been disappointed. Food has always been amazing and never had a long wait. Atmosphere great too. Portions of food are massive, burgers are the biggest ever. I normally double up, but don't know if I could ever triple :-) Great staff, really friendly and attentive. Home delivery now coming online through Yetti Delivery as well. Sadly, we are just out of the catchment area for CEJ ;-( but fab anyway. Cheers all!!! :-)

Had an amazing time! The service was quick and very friendly. The food was brilliant and my partner said it was the best T-bone steak he has ever had. We will definitely be making another visit when we are next in Torquay.
Can’t share enough how much of a hidden gem this place is. Amazing cocktails, food, rock n roll music and amazing staff. We absolutely have to come to Smokey’s when we come to Torquay. Really sad to hear about ‘runners’ which means they only do pre payment in the summer. Businesses like this add so much character and charm to a place and we should cherish them.

Walking in it had that nice feel of an American (Southern especially) diner. The waitress who served me was lovely and always checked up on me which is what you look for in a restaurant. The calamari was very nice and a nice way to start, and I had a Rump which was also lovely. Price was reasonable too for what I ordered. Overall, very nice place to eat I’d happily return.
Brilliant staff, very efficient service. Although the food itself was very good we did think the steaks were slightly over priced😪. Once you removed a very, very small 'garnish' in a tiny dish, the chips and steak looked quite lost on the plate. I would go again but I think I would rather have a couple of starters instead of a main meal. The garlic king prawns were absolutely delicious.
Expensive if you go for the steak option, but the one in our group who had it, said it was good. The burger I had was cooked really well and was very nice. Overall a average kind of meal at a slightly higher price, but on saying that I would visit again.
Lovely restaurant! Food is amazing and I would highly recommend. We come here every time we visit. Owner and his daughter are very welcoming and provide a top service!
2nd visit in week, lovely staff, good menu, generous portions, nice atmosphere and busy, but with quick service. Will be back for 3rd visit before we leave. Our empty plates say it all 😋
First time at Smokey Joe's, safe to say it was beautiful. My partner and I both had the 16ounce rump steak, and it was amazing. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned. If I didn't know it was a rump, I would of said a sirloin at least. Atmosphere was nice and the owners are lovely people. Definitely recommend.
Great place to eat and visit. Food was hot and delicious. Seasoned chips were very tasty. We tried steak, chicken, ribs, prawns, pulled pork and ribs! Staff were very good, friendly and worked really hard. Would recommend to visit if you like American foo and a diner experience.
Some recommendations to improve:
A loyalty stamp card to encourage repeat regular customers. Maybe get a discount on 5th/10th visit or free drink. Or birthday incentive.
Coleslaw/beans were small portions. If you require more then asking for a free refill could be a good option as well.
Tables for 2 are a bit near each other. Would prefer a bit more privacy when dining out.
Best American food in Torquay had a meal here on our final night of holiday and I don't regret. I would have gone here again food was spot on and drinks. Friendly staff and if you like big portions say no more, happy staff and American food I recommend highly over Jack's. Also has lovely bit of rock and roll playing :)
First visit and will definitely go again. Steaks were a good thick cut and cooked how we asked plus the service was great. Fair pricing too. I would of liked more draught beer choices as there is only budweiser but that's being picky and it does not warrant marking down. Thoroughly recommend 👌
Fabulous food, I visited recently with all my family, a party of 8, everyone enjoyed the food, service was very good. We used to visit regularly also when it was called Cotton Eye Joe's! Will certainly continue to visit when in torquay and highly recommend.

Definitely recommend going here, we went whilst on our yearly visit to Torquay. It's the first time going since they changed their name from Cotton Eyed Joe's. The food was still the same great food, we went early as we wanted to go when it was less busy. The burger was very tasty, the chips nice and crisp, and their customer service was spot on also. If you're in the area and like American themed restaurants, then definitely try this place out!

With so many restaurants it's a difficult decision. We smashed it with Smokey Joe's. Went for the 16oz rump. Was cooked to perfection, with a glaze that complemented the steak rather than over powering it. Recommended highly!
Food was quite good , my Steak was good , personal thing but don't glaze everything, Steak is great with Colmans or Di Jon Mustard , those little packet mustards are very poor and don't cut the Mustard ! Staff were very friendly, my Daughter thought her piri piri Chicken wasn't very Piri piri, and to ask for something to break the blandness , the Decor is very good , just a little more love and could be 5 star
