I ate here yesterday and as a recently diagnosed Coeliac was concerned but I didn't need to be. The staff couldn't do enough to help me with choices and were without exception very knowledgeable about the Coeliac condition and the food was very tasty and beautifully cooked. What an absolute gem this place is and your staff are wonderful!
This place serves wonderful food. Great staff delivering wonderful service. I noticed they have over 20 gins I tried a couple. All served with expert knowledge! Highly recommend this place! Views are amazing too! Couldn’t ask for more!
Lovely place. Great beer, food, the seafood platter to share wow!

Had Easter Sunday Lunch at the Passage and it was so good. Nothing was too much trouble. We had extra gravy and sauces. Carly, Neil and the waiting staff did an amazing job looking after us especially my Dad who was celebrating his bday and treated like a king. Food was delicious and desserts were lush. Can’t wait to go back to try some other goodies from the new menu. Thanks guys xx
My absolute fave go to pub for food and drink in Topsham! I delight in introducing friends and family from out of town to the fantastic, fun and friendly staff who always provide exceptional service even when the pub is super busy. The food is wonderful and they have recently put my favourite cider back on tap. What more could one want?
Cousin Ken and I had another great Sunday lunch here yesterday! A varied range of starters - I enjoyed the calamari - main courses - Ken liked the linguine, while, being Sunday, I went for the outstanding roast beef, which was a really generous helping, all the vegetables were cooked, and the gravy rich and tasty! We both enjoyed the warm apple pie with ice cream, but could eat no more! The service was brisk, though never rushed, and we both very much enjoyed our server, Amy's cheerful and friendly manner and banter! Three courses + a drink worked out at around £25+ a head, which, I think, represents good value, taking everything into consideration. God willing, we'll continue to enjoy more Sunday lunches here from time to time!
After all the hot weather I come down to Devon for the weekend and it all changed.!! No worries off to The Passage House Inn at Topsham for lunch. The young staff all very friendly and helpful and our meals were excellent. Lots of choice on main menu and also on the special boards. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.
Lovely meal here today! Warm salted caramel brownie and ice cream was to die for and cannot compliment the friendly, efficient staff enough ( especially our lovely waitress)
Often walked past this place and thought how nice it looked, so today we went in and I am very glad we did, lovely atmosphere and the food was amazing. Also was served by a lady who was only too happy to help with my dietary requirements nothing too much trouble. Will definitely be back
Despite being busy the service was great and the food was fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had the pleasure of dining at the Passage House Inn at Topsham Devon yesterday evening. We were a party of 8, and we called in at very short notice hoping to find a table to accommodate us. Henry was the first staff member that we met. Not only did he manage to fit us in, but he all the staff went above and beyond to ensure our evening was unforgettable. The food and service was first class. If you are ever in Topsham, the Passage House Inn is definitely worth a visit. Thank you for a lovey evening.
Wonderful setting and view over the river. Friendly service. Revisited a few times and much has changed since the last visit. It is evident that the owners listen to their customers resulting in great improvement. A much more imaginative menu and decent portions. Quality produce and fairly priced. The service was good especially as the place was packed, being the start of the school holiday season. An eatery that can now be very much recommended.
I found this pub on a cycling commute between Exmouth and Exeter in Topsham and had 2 pints of lovely IPA they had and ordered the seafood linguine of their specials board which was to die for !! Beautiful outdoor seating overlooking the river Exe, friendly staff great food and beer what more could one want 😁 cheers guys
Great place to have a nice lunchtime meal. The food is excellent, good choice of beer and helpful staff. Good value considering how good the quality of the food is. I have been quite a few times, and it's constantly good.
Great pub/restaurant, fab selection of ales. Very good menu and a few specials. Lovely outside seating area overlooking the water. Helpful staff, would definitely recommend.
One of the best to have a pint and food right on the water’s edge. Food great, portions can be on the small side though. Drinks selection very good. Service can be quite slow, but only at peak times when there are long queues at the bar for drinks.
Only had time for a pint was staying in the hotel nice outdoor seating area, can't belive I got the wrong one again, there are two called Passage House about 20 miles apart, the staff were really helpful and the food looked amazing that they were serving outside 🤣
Had a lovely lunch sat out in the sun overlooking the River Exe. The pub gets busy and getting a table can be an issue. However it is possible to book a table inside and outside.
Food was delicious, had a baguette. I could tell the bread was very fresh and locally sourced I believe ingredients also very fresh. Ale was nice a chilled too.
Will definitely be visiting again a true traditional pub experience with fair pricing. Staff were excellent, very polite, professional and engaging.
Lovely cozy pub with roaring fire for the winter and outside seating next to the water for the summer. The staff were great and made our dog feel very welcome. The mussels were very tasty. We would return.
This is a brilliant place to come for a drink outside on a warm day or even if it is inside on a colder or wet day.
There are plenty of seats over the road overlooking the river and small passenger ferry. Providing a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
They do a selection of food and some great Ales and ciders too. As well as lagers wines and spirits as you may well expect. All well kept.
The staff are really friendly and very helpful.
You can reserve tables which could well be a great idea if you think ahead. The food looks good.
It looks old inside, without appearing dated, which really adds to its character.
Will certainly return next time I am in Topsham and recommend this place to all young and old alike.
Solid menu selection, excellent customer service, lovely view in a cozy inn. Thank you to Christine for an excellent visit.
Managed to squeeze in on a busy easter Friday for lunch. Had scallops to start and Sea bass for my main. Both fresh and delicious!
Extremely disappointing experience. We have been eating here for years and have always been delighted with the food and welcome. This visit I ordered the Mediterranean veg with pesto linguini. It was the most tasteless meal I have ever been served. We told the waiter when he asked - and he could see 70% of my meal was uneaten. When my husband paid the bill, not one penny was taken off the bill. The following day, my husband took some friends in for a drink. Mentioned the poor meal experience to the manager who dismissively said sorry but offered no refund. Even a free drink would have shown customer empathy. We will not be eating here again or recommending the venue to our customers from now on. We run a holiday let in Topsham. It's such a shame that a great venue is being ruined by appalling service and poor food. I'm very disappointed!
Additionally we had to ask to move table before we ate as an elderly couple were arguing loudly next to us. Bicycles were also filling the disabled parking bay outside. Seemed like no- one was managing anything!
Awesome meal! The food was absolutely fantastic! The portions were absolutely huge & well priced. We visited for our 4th wedding anniversary having walked from Exeter. The view over the estuary was lovely as we had our food & drinks. The staff were very friendly & attentive. I had a bowl of mussels which could have reasonably fed 2-3 people - and they were delicious!
If we are ever in the area I would go out of my way to return!
Great location and good ale . Haven't tried the food for a few years but wasn't bad last time
Excellent pub just beside the small ferry with a lovely outside space overlooking the Estuary. The beer was beautiful after our cycle ride and the food looked lovely too. Staff were very friendly and efficient and we spent a very enjoyable late afternoon in the sunshine soaking in the view.
Excellent location surpassed only by an awesome friendly efficient team! Dealt with a slight food complaint we had quickly and professionally. Highly recommend this fab pub! 20/10!
It's a nice place, with great views and clearly very popular. Had food here with friends and our children. The staff were polite and friendly. We made some basic requests which they got wrong despite me emphasising the changes to the young lad 3 times. They were quick to correct it, though. Some of the food was quite bland, which surprised me as plenty of people have great things to say about it (particularly the fish). Steak was great, cooked perfectly, and tasted good. Service was a little on the slow side. I would still go back for food, but it wouldn't be a first choice.
Beautiful garden overlooking the River Exe with lovely views. A range of ales and choice of meals including fresh cod in a light batter and fresh mackerel salad, which came very quickly.
Ideal for a relaxed Sunday lunch in the sun.
