Had a Sunday roast, its a lovely unique country pub that use to be stables. My roast was average , service was friendly and pleasant. Lovely decorated pub , relaxing and calm and they are also dog friendly pity its so far out of London.
Absolutely brilliant đź‘Ź loved the whole place, very good choice of food, great staff, helpful and entertaining couldn't more for you! Our friends were of the same opinion and I've already booked our next lunch together and we'll be bringing our two miniature Schnauzers this time. Great to see such a dog friendly place
Thanks again Adrian
Honestly, it's one if the best places for Sunday lunch that I have been to in quite a long time. I admire how the atmosphere was so relaxed in spite of the fact that the restaurant area was very busy indeed. It's a rare achievement keeping the standard of food and service so high whilst being so full. We'll be back!
This is a charming historical cosy pub, with a log fire. The food and service are excellent. Would definitely recommend this pub for a visit.
Always love this venue and great food. However, disappointed, as we had booked for 4 persons 3 weeks in advance and because we were initially asked to be seated in the cold 'stable' because of "walk-ins". I thought the "walk-ins" should have been put in the "stable" and my table as "reserved". However, the problem was resolved by a very nice waitress.
Very lovely country pub! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We sat in the stables and had a wonderful evening. We had the Tapas, followed by the sea bass (would recommend highly) & steak and ale pie. Couldn’t say no to the desserts board and had the homemade sticky toffee (also loved) and the cheesecake. Even the ice cream was excellent. Will deffo recommend and return.
Loved it will visit again! Quirky too.
After a rather stressful morning car shopping just down the road, we got to the Angel around half past 2. Starving and a little delirious, we walked through the large seating area outside the front of the pub where plenty of people were eating and enjoying the sunshine.
Upon entering the building, we were welcomed by several members of staff, who were all very busy but found the time to acknowledge us and ask us just to give them 1 minute. Sure enough, one minute passed, and the staff behind the bar were taking our drinks orders. My other half questioned if the kitchen was still open as we were now closing on on 3pm.
The lady told us yes, but we need to be quick to order. Having spied the dish I was after moments before, I knew exactly what I wanted and rather hastily and excitedly shouted it out. (This became a lovely little joke between the bar staff and us, as later she did ask if the burger had hit the spot)
My wife and I then went to the rear garden and sat in the conservatory so we didn't burn in the afternoon sun. The food came out quickly and was both very generous in portion size and excellently cooked and presented. (The skinny fries were crunch and hot, the burger was juicy and delicious, and the cranberry and bacon panini was approximately the size of a small horse.)
The atmosphere in this place is great and the staff were very helpful and quite fun. I will be returning, and I will probably be getting the same thing again! Delicious!
Dog friendly as l do not go anywhere with out them. Nice selection of good food and friendly staff. The portion of Gypsy Tart was the smallest l have ever seen in Kent and l am a bit of a expect.
I had crab pasta was very tasty and hit the spot.
Lovely pub with polite helpful staff went here yesterday and had the toast which was a great size portion and very tasty. The pub it self is great would happily come here for just a drink and seeing what a lovely location it is for walks and how dog friendly the pub is (has its own dog menu) I may well return to do this.
My only criticism would be had to wait a little while for food but the place was packed and another diner who been multiple times before said that is a rare to wait this long. However as I said before I wasn’t disappointed as the food was 👌👌
