Memories of going to this pub almost 20 years ago when children were little. Our return visit great. We were able to eat in the garden, choose between eating from the pubs menu or the bbq hut. starters arrived quickly and were lovely, 3 of us ate bbq and one halomi burger from pub menu. BBQ melt in the mouth brisket burgers from hut with beautiful fries, great coleslaw, . huge halomi and munch. Lots of children playing but great that activities were tucked to one side . I have been a Customer for over 20 years and my visit with two friends last Saturday certainly did not disappoint. Lovely atmosphere & exceptional food as always. The staff were friendly and efficient from beginning to end making a fuss of my friend as it was a Birthday lunch. Cannot recommend this pub highly enough. Thank you & see you again soon. x

Absolutely fabulous place! So welcoming, fantastic service. Barmen were fabulously accomodating, even if I did deplete their Midori supplies! 20/10 would recommend. Beautiful food and great service! Keep it up guys, we'll be back x

Visited the LBJ early evening on a Sunday. The food was excellent, the best roast dinner I've tasted in a pub restaurant ever! The vegetables were cooked to perfection. The service was good too with the managers waiting on the tables as well as serving at the bar which give the whole dining experience the personal touch. Can't wait to visit again. Well done to all the staff.

We were pleasantly surprised to have gotten a table at lunch time on a Sunday as most pubs are always booked up. We sat near the door next to the log fire - which was idyllic considering the pouring rain outside. The pub has a lovely, friendly vibe (not least because it is dog friendly - which was the best thing ever for me!), and the food was possibly the best food I've had at a pub to date. My husband had liver and mash, I had fish pie and veggies - beautiful, tasty, comforting home cooked food, in a beautiful and comfortable surrounding. The LBJ has rocketed to my number 1 favourite pub! :)

We went for a family roast. We sat outside and the garden area was very cozy. The food was really tasty and staff very friendly. There is a play area for smaller children including swings, seesaw, slide and zip line. There are also pods outside which can be hired for a more private feel if you wish. There is parking or it is directly opposite Penshurst train station 😀

Just by chance drove past and as it was getting late decided to see if they had a table free. Young man behind the bar was friendly and welcoming and quickly seated us at a table. Food was delicious, generous portion and arrived quite quickly. The value for money was good too. Will definitely go again next time we're visiting family in the area

Did a circular walk from Bore place and the Little Brown Jug was about half way along, so stopped in for drinks and some food. We sat in the covered patio for the shade as it was a warm day. Service was good, food great. Plenty of choice on the menu. Dog friendly in bar and outside areas. Will come again. Just check the bill as service was included, but that was pointed out to us by the waitron when we tried to add more on to the card machine. All good.

My husband and I stumbled across this little gem at the end of our cycle route from London and oh my what a treat! Brilliant place to have food and recharge. From the phone call I made to find out if they were serving food all the way to the goodbye everything and everyone was flawless! It’s been very hard on the hospitality industry after Covid and most pubs and restaurants are still struggling to deliver standard of service and food quality! This place deserves a medal! We had the half smoked chicken, cottage pie and nachos, absolute perfection! Speed, temperature and quality. Staff are superstars! Polite, skilled, knowledgeable and happy! Well done to the Management for creating such an amazing team that reflects on the business . Will be back every chance I have. Well done to everyone 👏👏👏👏👏 and thank you 🙏❤️

Very convenient to park and near to Hever Castle. The food was amazing but it takes awhile to get your food. Perfect place to be at!

We held our daughter’s christening party at the Little brown Jug on Sunday and want to send a huge thank you to Andy and the team for such a great day! The buffet food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We hired the terrace area which was just perfect as it was situated next to the playground for the children. Andy was especially helpful in the run up to the day, ensuring he had all the information/ timings and pre orders to make the day run smoothly. Once again, a really big thank you!

We had our daughters 2nd birthday here as a little get together for friends and family. The staff were so helpful in getting together a platter menu that would suit everyone, allowing us to add and change a few items to suit our needs. The food itself was absolutely delicious, the staff were so helpful and friendly allowing us to set up balloons and bits in the outdoor area, the weather was glorious and we had the summer jazz playing in the garden which was a nice surprise while the kids were playing in the treehouse and play area. All round it was a perfect day- thank you so much !

Went for dinner tonight as I'm staying at the Hever Castle B&B and the restaurants recommended we're busy. I'm so glad I did because this place might have been the best food I've ever eaten! I had the tomato and roasted red pepper soup with roasted brown bread - hands down the tastiest thing I've ever put in my mouth! Also had the mac'n'cheese with bacon and it was rich and delicious as well! As a bariatric patient, I can only eat 2-3oz of food at a meal so I feel bad leaving most of my food on my plate but they didn't make me feel bad about it once! Very friendly staff, beautiful building and decor. If I ever find myself back in this area, all of my meals will be here! Also want to note, before I placed my order, I was asked if there were any dietary restrictions or allergies they should work with - I don't have any (aside from a small stomach pouch 😅) but hearing it asked made me happy for those that do need to worry about it!

The Little Brown Jug is in a lovely location. There is a reasonable amount of parking on site with disabled parking available very close to the entrance. The garden area is expansive with plenty of room for children to stretch their legs. A patio area is available close to the side of the building. If you are looking for something special, look no further than the romantic Tiki Huts available at an extra cost. Now for the nitty-gritty, the food. We've eaten here before many times over the years and had very good experiences. However, today was not the best. The starters were very good, the chicken parfait with bloomer bread and salad, absolutely delicious. To be honest, that would have been sufficient as a main for me and I would have gone home happy. My husband had the crispy duck spring roll, which he was also happy with. The mains were a let down, the sirloin steak was flavoursome but chewy, and the chunky chips had seen better days. My husband's gourmet burger was more thyme than beef and he found it inedible. However, this is not our usual experience here. The waitress noticed my husband's struggles and reported it to management, not our intention, but greatly appreciated. The owner dealt with the situation in the very best way possible. The staff members and management here are absolutely brilliant. You feel valued as soon as you enter the building, and nothing is too much trouble. It really matters to them that you have a great time and therefore will make return visits. It's a beautiful building inside, decorated with lots of nostalgic pictures and nooks and crannies. The tables are spaced to allow for romantic couple meals or big family celebrations etc., along with candles to add to the ambience. All in all a great venue, and we will definitely be back.

This used to be our favourite pub in Kent. The food / Roast is not as good as before and the price has gone up, too. Portion is big and plenty of vegetables. Vegetables are bit too soft. Friendly staff and good service. Toilet is clean. Free parking available. You can go across the train station opposite and have a walk in the field. There is also a play park in the pub and kids had fun playing there.

I came here for my mum and nan’s birthday and we had a great time! We had a lovely birthday plate with a brownie and a candle for my mum and nan, which had ‘happy birthday’ written in chocolate sauce, which made it special for them. The pub itself is a lovely traditional country pub, which is easily accessible from Penshurst station, which is across the road. I’d highly recommend a visit and the fish and chips!

Large gastropub across the road from Penshurst station. I've had the Sunday lunch and chicken burger here and the food was very tasty. Not much in the way of real ale but the local Larkin's beer was on offer on both occasions. There's a large garden with a play area which is very popular. Free parking but the car park is very busy at mealtimes. Service was friendly and fairly efficient. Overall a good meal can be had here but it is very expensive - maybe a bit to pricey for what's on offer.
