It was the combination of delicious, freshly made, tasty food, combined with the warm welcome I received from the lovely staff and cafe visitors that made my first visit to Kava Kafe such a wonderful experience. My Chennai Mushroom and Cashew Flammkuchen was amazing and everyone was so friendly. Spot, my beautiful Jack Russell who is nearly 18 was also welcomed and it was lovely to chat to other dog owners in such friendly surroundings. If someone asked me what is the one thing that makes Kava so special, it would be difficult to say - everything was just so perfect....the food; the lovely welcome we got on arrival; the relaxed, friendly atmosphere; the really nice customers I ended up chatting to and the fact that they're so dog friendly. It was through chatting to a customer I found out Kava hosts special event nights and I can't wait to come along to some of those. I think this has got to be one of the nicest, friendliest places I've ever been to and the food was just out of this world.

I spent the day working here and what a lovely day it's been. Warm atmosphere, great tea, and wonderful vegetarian food. To top it off they're playing KingCreosote as the day draws to a close: perfect.

A little gem of a place Kava has a warm and friendly atmosphere with very attentive staff. Dogs are most welcome and there is a little veranda where you can eat outside and give your dog a drink. The food is fabulous. The Keralan Chickpea and Spinach curry is a must try. Fabulous. Also very reasonably priced. I will definitely return to this wonderful little place.

I've been a few times over the last few years (since the original owners left). The food is always nice and staff are friendly. Only one negative thing, when I visited one lunchtime in Nov 2019, one customer, in plain view of the staff at the serving area, had a small dog standing on one of the tables for several minutes. Allowing dogs is fine but...

Lovely food - I had the roasted roots: healthy & delicious. Nice coffees. Courteous staff. Chef had some banter with the nippers. Perfect after a family hike up to the pike.

Nice atmosphere and good coffee. Lovely cakes (orange chocolate and pineapple and pumpkin, nice and fresh...delicious), also they serve peanut butter crunch as an accompaniment free gratis. Courteous staff.

Really nice cafe with quality coffee, including decaf. I enjoyed the soba noodle dish. They serve croissants, cakes, cookies, brownies, toast with various toppings - some of the menu being vegan. They have beers by local vegan brewery, Little Valley, as well as a gluten-free beer and Italian beer. And wines.

Three of us shared a Winter Roots dish and a Sharing Plate. It was a Friday lunchtime. We sat on the sunny terrace overlooking the river. The owner made us feel very welcome. It was perfect.

What a fabulous café! Staying in Mankinholes Youth Hostel for the week, this has been my regular morning haunt. The coffee is excellent, the setting comfortable, and the staff relaxed & friendly. I thoroughly recommend the Breakfast Yufka - labne with various combinations (my favourite is haloumi, rocket & sweet chili), in filo pastry. Gorgeous...

Good, but not as good as it used to be since the change of ownership. For me the new menu offers fewer choices, all my old favorites are gone. But looking forward to seeing what the winter menu has to offer.

Hybrid bar, cafe, meeting place. Bottled beer only and expensive. Very arty farty which is ok if you like that sort of thing. Lovely terrace overlooking the canal. Not for me but definitely has it's place in the town.
