Always a smile and a great. Welcome.....well worth revisiting.
Great food at very affordable prices. Friendly staff/owners. Looking forward to a return visit.
We went here in September - Great atmosphere, great food, and great friendly service.
Wonderful little country inn with fine beer and excellent scotch whiskey. We were entertained by a local celbrity, Ray Bremner, who told stories and sang traditional songs in both Gaelic and English. We were there as part of a tour group and we filled the bar-room to capacity. the owners were biehind the bar and made us feel very much welcome.
Good tasty pub grub, cosy bar with a nice open fire. Great portions (maybe consider skipping starter for that reason) π Steak Pie π₯§ superb, as are all dishes π well priced food that hits the spot. Can be busy so book when you can to avoid disappointment as walk in may not be accommodated. Plenty parking at rear of premises.
We had a fabulous night at the Old Smiddy. Warm atmosphere, good beer and whiskey, and excellent food. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and accommodating as they were initially fully booked for the night but managed to squeeze us in. As a bonus there was entertainment too with singing and bagpipes! A real bonus!! Totally recommend!!!
Excellent - beautiful performance by young competition pipers, followed by local biard providing tales and songs from local area
Stayed in the pub car park overnight in a motorhome. Landlord and locals were very chatty, giving us helpful information. Food is supposed to be spot on but we did not try any. The local bitter was a fantastic pint !! Don't be put off by the appearance of the place it's worth a stop over especially if you're doing the NC500 ππ
If you get the opportunity, make this a required stop. Wonderful experience and atmosphere.
The smiddy inn is just brilliant fantastic the chat is fab the owners are so polite. To chat to.
One of the best and loveliest pubs I've ever been in. Great food, great atmosphere, great bar room with an open fire and old blacksmith tools, and a TV playing programs like The Chase. Small selection of beers and cider, 4 taps all together, but enough to suit most people. Plenty of spirts on offer too. Some of the nicest pub food I've ever had, and Alice the bar woman/landlady is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Would love to go back again. Cheap too.
Essential stop off if you are passing to go to John O Groats or doing the NC500.
Had a delicious lunch here today in comfortable surroundings. Great choice on the menu and large portions. Very accommodating as we had 2 Under 5's in our group and they were catered for brilliantly too.
Very welcoming, lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and locals. Our meals were delicious so highly recommend this pub if you are in or passing through Thrumster.
We were a group of six and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The steak was perfect and as others have said the home made chips were the best I've had. The beer was very good and the hosts were excellent. It is a shame to visit the area and not eat here.
Had a great time here. Raymond was sensational
A absolute must stop off on the NC500. This old forge has so much character and history it's wonderful. The food is really good to,make sure you book in advance as it gets booked up quick. Great drink selection and very friendly and welcoming
