I was part of the large table on Monday 13.03.17 for my friend's 60th The staff were fantastic, the food was fabulous, I had the Slow Roast Lamb Shoulder...absolutely stunning From the 'oooh's, ahh's & oh yum's' from around the table, the food cannot be faulted Staff, food, environment...fabulous establishment

Can highly recommend here as I do for all visitors to our holiday cottage nearby. Good food, atmosphere and company. A great Burns Night celebration last Sunday with excellent piped music bringing in the haggis followed by cranache! What more could one ask? Xx

I have stayed here a couple of times now. It’s always lovely and clean. All staff are so friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is delicious. I stay out of season when it’s not the best weather outside and that log burner was so welcoming after a long walk. I will definitely be back hopefully before Christmas. I call this place my bolt-hole 😉 I would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed local to this pub. From the outside this pub looks a little tired however inside its great and traditional in decor. We dined on two consecutive nights and the food was good, service was friendly and great and the general ambience was relaxed and homely. There is a great beer garden with the best view ever over the fields and hills which we viewed from the resturant as the weather as not good.

We haven't been here for such a long time and decided to call in today for Sunday lunch.I must say it was superb, the choice of 4 different meats and how many slices you would like was really good. The veg was served fresh and cooked to perfection .A nice touch was the offer of minted gravy. Everything was flavoursome and plentiful.A really old fashioned touch was the addition of chocolate mints for your coffee, much appreciated .All of the staff were friendly and super efficient in a busy time .£10 for 2 slices of meat and £11.95 for 3 slices is absolutely fabulous,it just melted in our mouths . Well done for keeping your prices down and not compromising on quality and quantity .

Just stayed at the log cabin for one night, so impressed with how beautiful it is. It was everything and more with its own private patio with table and chairs also sun loungers,we hit lucky with the lovely sunshine. The cabin is so clean and very warm with radiator's in every room,TV,tea and coffee making facilities lovely king size bed (so comfortable). The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the owner Gail ,even bringing our evening meal and breakfast to our patio to enjoy the views while eating the amazing food. Couldn't fault it at all and we have already booked to stay again.

I had a lovely dinner here and would certainly recommend! It wasn't super busy on a weekend evening, but I'd still say to book ahead if possible. Try to request a table that faces the hills. Absolutely beautiful view! We had the fish and chips, which were delicious, and the small cod was definitely large enough for a single portion!

Great value food with big portions and friendly staff. We went with 3 slices of meat from the carvery which was plenty, you can chose from 1 to 5 slices. This was served with a good selection vegetables and gravies. Beer garden has a good view across the value. Very busy in the restaurant when we called, probably safer to book.

I cannot express just how incredible our experiences were here. The staff are so friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced with plenty of selection, the food was absolutely spot on - and the views from the beer garden are unrivalled. I will be returning.

Visited with 2 sons, daughter in law, grandson. The waitress was charming, sociable, helpful, and humour,a delightful young lady. The Barman served drinks, gracious, courteous, and humour. The food was served well, presented with great manners. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was professional, family place. As complete strangers, they made us welcome 🙏. It would be worth the drive for the beautiful countryside, and beautiful people 😀 😊 Thank you both personally 😊

Loved this place and the lovely people here! The village is quiet, the view absolutely charming. The food was amazing! It is away from the busyness of the tourist towns, but close enough to enjoy them all. We stayed 4 nights and wished we could stay 4 more.

Four people for lunch yesterday in the bar, very surprised to see we were alone though I think many were in the beer garden. Service was slow but as it seemed there was one staff member looking after restaurant, bar and garden that's hardly surprising, poor woman was run off her feet but it did mean the whole meal, mains and dessert took over two hours to finish. Food was great, good portions without being OTT,chips were a big hit with my daughter. Puddings all round were again delicious. All that plus soft drinks and one pint for just under £100 was a good price. All in all a good meal , we had people from Norfolk visiting so we were keen to show Northumberland off, just problems with staffing was a slight irk. Apart from that I would heartily recommend.

So we stopped off for an over night stay, the bedrooms were large. The beds could do with a topper, just to make a bit more soft. But the sheets were lovely! Parking was quite tight next to each other. The food, oh wow was amasing. Had the chicken with leek sauce!! And the chips OMG! Would defo eat there again! The staff were so lovely and welcoming! Breakfast was great too!

What is it with this walking lark? 2 new places in a week!!!!!! Last week, it was an epic trip to Malham Cove in North Yorkshire this week it's Thropton (a little village in Northumberland). I am certainly not complaining it's just a bit weird, especially considering that I have been a member of the Tyneside Ramblers since 1994. You would think that I would have been everywhere on their circuit but seemingly not. Which can only be a good thing. Anyway, the Three Wheat Heads Inn not very often do I give somewhere 5 stars in fact very rarely do I give somewhere 5 stars.✨️✨️✨️ On this occasion, though the good folk at the Three Wheat Heads Inn have most certainly deserved them, they were brilliant from the friendly greeting to the service to the Golden Plover and the Mad Goose ales. 🍺 Of course, not forgetting the absolutely amazing, incredible Roast Beef dinner with the Honeycomb cheesecake that was just fantastic, and just to top the day off sitting with the people I had been walking with in the sunshine, the beer garden, and an amazing view. Thank you to all at the Three Wheat Heads Inn, a perfect end to a special day.

Popped in for lunch and ordered chicken in balsamic vinegar accompanied with creamy mashed potatoes and a selection of vegetables, done to perfection the chef should be very proud of himself and the service was second to none, will definitely return.
