I don’t normal write reviews but I feel that this pub/restaurant deserves it! Yesterday evening myself and 11 friends had a lovely meal at the George and dragon (a few of us for the first time myself included). We were given a back room which was perfect as we were there for our friends baby shower. We were allowed to decorate the room too, which was great as most pub don’t allow you to anymore.
Going out for a meal when your a group to me is like going out for a Christmas meal, you have low expectations as it’s always a naff meal. However last night I was surprised the meal was lovely and the portion sizes were huge! I had nacho to start which I shared with everyone else as it was to much for me! Then the lamb which I didn’t have high hopes for, but it was cooked perfectly! The vegetables came out separately which I was glad of as I’m fussy about vegetables. The waitress and bar staff where very friendly. The pub had a lovely atmosphere as well! Couldn’t fault the place!
If your looking for a home cooked meal and a friendly atmosphere then this is the pub for you!!
Literally just returned from having my baby shower at The George and Dragon and must say how overwhelmed I am. We were a party of 12 and given a room towards the back of the pub - we ordered drinks from the bar, and were seated very quickly. Our food came and I must say it was absolutely delicious!! I ordered the lamb for myself, it was beautiful and cooked to perfection. Vegetables came separately, which is perfect as many members of our party are fussy with vegetables. The waitress couldn’t do enough for us, and was a delight to be served by. Thank you George and Dragon you certainly made me a customer for life!
Held a special surprise birthday party here, a lovely place to go very friendly staff, the room was decorated for us the cold buffet was very nice & lots of choice. highly recommend the George & Dragon.
Extremely impressed with the gluten free range of food here. Everything clearly labelled on the menu and more importantly really tasty food! Great service too �
I have started going down the George and Dragon every so often to call in for a drink with friends and I have always been made to feel so so welcome! Always got the footy on if you like that sort of thing and I have bought tickets for the Easter Raffle which they are doing ��Tonight 12 of us have had a meal as part of a baby shower for our friend and it was absolutely lovely! I had the garlic pizza bread to start(which was huge) and the beef stroganoff for main! I had no room for pudding this time round, although those that could manage a pudding the chocolate cake looked amazing! I will be down here more often as my parents would also like to try out the food now x
Had a fantastic night last night for my mums 70th birthday party, fantastic buffet of hot and cold food, everywhere decorated beautifully and nothing was too much trouble, even for a couple of fussy eaters, fresh plain sandwiches were made. Fantastic place and great staff. Thank you from us all.
Absolutely fantastic place with wonderful staff and landlord!! Awesome NYE gathering with fireworks to bring 2018 in. Recommend this to anyone.

What an amazing evening we’ve just had at the George and Dragon in Thringstone! We organised a meal for a group of friends to celebrating a baby shower. Nothing was too much trouble when organising the shower, from the restaurant partitioning a section of the restaurant for us, and they allowed us to pop decorations in which they put up for us as well! The food was amazing as well, we all had starters and mains, ranging from battered mushrooms and Brie to Sunday roast dinners and pizza’s. I personally had the mushrooms...which were whole battered mushrooms served with a garnish, followed by Sunday Roast beef which came with roast potatoes, mash, a huge tasty homemade Yorkshire pudding, veg and meaty gravy, mmm! We were a group of 12 and our experience from start to finish was second to none. We just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the George and Dragon for your hospitality this evening, and I’m sure this will be a baby shower to be remembered! Thank you again
I don’t normally write reviews but due to the fantastic service and superb food we received tonight I just had to write one. I had the garlic mushrooms to start and they where delicious followed by an equally amazing beef stroganoff!! The staff where all friendly and efficient and I can not wait to go again! Worth every penny !!!

We went on a Saturday night, busy, but good atmosphere and could not complain about the service. Really warm, inviting and friendly.
Menu is one of the best, something for everyone, and a fab selection for vegans.
I actually couldn't decide as there were so many dishes I fancied.
Great place.

We've had a couple of horrendous experiences here in years gone by, which have put us off returning. However, we'd heard really good things recently.
We attended a christening and it was lovely. An area reserved for us, a nice buffet and (mostly) friendly staff.
It was busy at the bar when we arrived (but we were booked in, so it wasn't a surprise), but one girl in particular got very flustered and to be honest, rather rude. However, she regained herself later on.
All in all, although it looks a little tired on the outside, it's a lovely pub with good food and looks smart inside. We'll return to sample the menu!
Lovely family friendly pub and restaurant. Very welcoming with great service. Waiting staff (especially Jack!) are fantastic and attentive.
Food portions are big and good value for money. Large drinks collection. Gin connoisseurs will appreciate the effort here.

Lovely, friendly staff. They go out of their way to make sure you have the best meal for your needs. Sorted me out brilliantly with my food intolerances.
Fabulous Service, with great food being, Chicken and Steak Fajitas, also with Chocolate Fudge Cake too. :)

Never been here before and we called in for a late lunch - around 1.30pm. Was quietish......which was nice. All three of us fancied something plain, so we had ham, egg & chips and onion rings! Ham was thick and tasty. Chips were homemade and yummy and the onion rings - the batter was so light and they weren't greasy at all. We all really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back and taste some more dishes!
Lovely food. Quiet country pub apart from very loud dog who eventually got taken out, but other than that very nice, good beer- Timothy Taylor Landlord. Pie was really nice. Good portions, so much so, no room for dessert 😅. Will go back again.
It is a very nice pub where you can come with your entire family. To entertain the kids they have two bouncy castles and a little farm with ducks, chickens, geese and swans. You can find drinks at decent price. The food is tasty.

Good parking, nice food, good service.... For my 'persona'l taste it was a bit harsh with the lighting and because there wasn't a carpet it echoed & you could hear every step as people walked around. Dare I say it felt like I was sat in a nice village hall.... The menu was good, covering most peoples taste, not cheap but not expensive either, the staff were attentive and friendly without being overwhelming. The food was well cooked, well presented, most importantly it was hot. Will I return?..... Yes for a family meal or with friends but maybe not for a date night with my wife.
I like coming here to eat. Come with my mum at weekday lunchtimes & my son in evenings. Plenty of choices available on menu, our food is always served promptly to table & really tasty. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere, nice decor & clean. The chef & servers are very friendly & attentive. Would certainly recommend.
Been for a lovely meal this evening. Received a very warm welcome and great service throughout the meal.
Food was really good, excellent choice and great taste. Will definitely be returning again.

Called in for food,wasn't disappointed, massive portions very reasonably priced ,very quick service,staff very friendly,added bonus our dog was welcome in the bar,will be calling in again next time we pass
Good food, well priced and staff were friendly.
I was also a part of the party that has been complained about below, and do not agree with the statements being made what so ever. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was wonderful, they catered for a large party very well and the foot all came put fresh and very quickly considering the size of party. The staff were all polite and wonderful and dealt with us very well. Also, they were very considerate of the birthday girl having a daily intolerance and catered to this. Thank you for a wonderful evening x
