Every aspect of this visit was amazing, all the staff were really friendly but professional, the food was excellent and the service was great too. There was a medical incident whilst we were dining which my my Wife assisted with as she’s a nurse, two members of staff helped, one went round and spoke to the diners in close proximity to make sure they were OK and the other staff maintained some normality almost like it was something they had rehearsed for. Well done Team Red Fox, keep up the good work!

Great place, on the large side but it doesn't feel like it the way the seating is laid out. Really loved the coal fire and seating around it. Menu has good choices, food was good and decent portions. Only negative is skinny chips weren't hot. Steak sandwich was beautiful. Decent price and love the fact that you get tokens towards your next meal, get 6 tokens and 12 quid off the next meal. Would definitely be back to this location and try another location within the chain. No photos of food as we were in company.

The Red Fox. Simply just excellent. This is a delightful country manor pub in Thornton. It comes with lots of charm and a very welcoming atmosphere. The grounds are lovely. There's an open fire in the pub area and a fire pit in the garden room. What's not to love on a chilly day. A great selection of ales on draught and a great food menu to choose from ( see pictures ). Now on to our experience. On arrival, warmly greeted and taken to our seats which was adjacent to the fire pit and was lovely and cosy with a view of the gardens. The waiting staff are so attentive too. Very polite with a good knowledge of the menu. Our meals of choice. For me, wild boar, pork, and parsnip pie in a cider gravy and for my wife seabass with cockle sauce. ( she does like a seabass dish 😄). Our dishes arrived within 20 minutes and the place was busy. My dish was delicious, the pastry was lovely and light and the meat inside the pie was as tender as you like with a lush cider gravy. If I could give one critique and a very minor one. A little jug of the cider gravy on the side would have been nice as there was a good helping of mashed potato, which is great, but I do like a bit more gravy . My wife said the seabass was exquisite and was cooked to perfection. It was complimented by a lemon potato cake and tenderstem broccoli. She said the sauce was crazy good and wished she had a bread roll to mop it up. For dessert, which was a must. Chocolate chip cheesecake with chocolate sauce. Very decadent and delicious and a mini chocolate brownie that was lovely and gooey with a cappuccino. Overall, this was one of our most enjoyable dining experiences. A place we would most definitely return and would recommend to anyone to go to for a meal or just a drink. So give here a go, you won't be disappointed. A place that has got it right for sure.

High-end pub grub. Beautiful building and grounds. Good menu with high quality food, though not very veggie friendly. The desserts we tried were good, but not as good as the mains.

Gorgeous venue and fantastic service. It’s the little touches that count - my Sunday lunch went cold as I had to attend to my baby son. The staff reheated the meat and even gave me fresh gravy and vegetables to go with it. Sincerely appreciated and a lovely venue for a memorable Easter Sunday lunch

Good size car park. Lovely big place with a variety of seating areas and plenty of stuff to look at. Tables nicely set apart so that you didn't feel cramped together. Nice ambiance. Staff very friendly. Service was good. All the food turned up at the same time and was delicious. We booked online which was very easy to do. They asked you to confirm your booking a couple of days earlier which is fair and also easy to do. Ate three courses in two and a half hours and didn't feel at all rushed.

Great food, service could be a little better considering it wasn't too busy on a Friday lunchtime. After we were seated, it took a while for someone to come over to take our orders or to check on us. We opted to get our own drinks in the end. Dog friendly is always a bonus!

The place is lovely and the service attentive, polite and non-intrusive. The food was terrific except the potatoes dauphinoise, on my plate and two others in our party, which was dry hard and overdone. I love this type of potato dish, but this was not it. The beef feather was soft and tasty, and everyone enjoyed their meal, but commented on the potatoes as a let down. For the price of the meal I'd expect more attention to detail.

Fabulous experience at the dog friendly bar tables in the Red Fox. Had goats cheese and onion & cider soup to start with chicken schnitzel and cheese & potato pie for mains. Chuck in a glass of Chardonnay, a pint of local perry and a pale ale, together with a wonderful serving lady who supported Tranmere, and the Red Fox was a perfect early evening experience...

Great food, service, and atmosphere. As soon as we walked in, we knew it was a great place to eat. We were seated next to their central fireplace and asked for drinks. A waitress came soon after and took our order. She apologised in advance for a slower service as they were so busy. It wasn't slow. We ordered squid and pil pil to share, and both ordered Sea Bream (we don't eat meat). All exceptional and more than pub grub. We had recommended Provence Rose, delicious. We finished by sharing the Rhubarb, Orange, and ginger sponge with custard. A big mistake shouldn't have shared! We'll be back soon as saw the fish and chips sail past a few times and got total food envy. Plenty of parking, toilets clean.

Such a lovely setting from the grounds, to the building in general. The service is spot on and they always seem to have plenty of staff on. The food is good (need to swap out the deep fried oven chips for fresh chips/seasoned french fries though, at the prices being charged for the meals). The selection and quality of the beers are always excellent. It's sets a high standard for others to follow. The Red Fox promotes local brewers and is conscious of the distance travelled by its beer suppliers. All the staff are great and very friendly and the manager is happy to talk about the beers they stock.
