Like stepping in a time capsule. Charming pub, friendly service. The snug was quaint almost like being in a church but with good beer.

As a long term local, I've not been in for about 5 years after moving a few miles away. Came in for the Thursday night quiz with some friends and we had a great night. Service was fabulous, beer was great and the crack was like the old days. Being a Sam Smiths house they have rules, but stick to the them and you'll have a great night. No mobile phone use.

Nice and quiet (on a Tuesday night) place for a pint and a chat, interior decor quite nice, clean and well maintained. Price in line with other places.

The Sunday Roast dinner was excellent. The turkey and veg were done to perfection, with lovely moist stuffing and a huge Yorkshire pudding. I had the small plate and my husband had the standard, and that was more than enough for both of us. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. The bonus of this being a quiet pub, with no technology allowed, meant that we could actually have a normal conversation without having to shout over music and gaming machines. Definitely a plus point for us.

Really enjoyed the quiz on Thursday, great atmosphere ,no banging loud music etc....,were defo going again .the three amigos 😁 only one moan n it's the same everywhere the price of a flipping coke!! £3 doesn't encourage non drinkers or driver's! And when it's from the pumps it's exceptionally cheap in reality! I know this as I have friends in the trade! But hey ho it is the same all over sadly 😔

This pub is great. The stout is particularly great. What makes this pub great is really cheap prices. £2 a pint for some ales. They don't serve the usually stuff here either. No Carling, Fosters Guinness and the like, just Samuel Smith's own, which are really good. No TVs so you can enjoy a drink in peace and be able to hear who your talking to. The past few times I've been, I've had the Sunday roast, which had been fantastic. Well recommended. They only draw back for me is I live in Preston now, so it's a bit of a drive to come here. I need to see if I can find a Samuel Smith's near me.

It's got great, cheap beer and the staff are nice. You also have the added bonus of the experience of being in a pub in the 80's.

Proper old school pub, haven't had a drink I there since I was a teenager(many years ago, over 30). Met an old friend for a drink and was surprised the pub has a no mobile phone policy, no calls, texts, surfing or social media, was sceptical, but what a great idea. Conversation flowed, a few beers, what a great night. Only issue I have is writing a review on my phone about not using my phone, ironic really.
