Visited Charles James - Pie and Mash today with my son and we weren't disappointed! We both chose the Sunday Dinner Pie - I had the beef and Daniel had the chicken. Whist we waited for our dinner I looked over the menu and there is such a huge choice of drinks including cocktails (shame I was driving). My son decided on the Malteser milkshake and it looked and tasted delicious. The dinners arrived and the pies were accompanied with a platter of roasted carrots, roast potatoes and two HUGE Yorkshire pudding. Everything was so tasty and the pies were crammed full of meat and vegetables. We had no complaints at all, just couldn't manage a pudding from the huge selection. However, we did chose one of the cake jars to take home and some of the Wallings ice-cream too. Would absolutely recommend and will certainly be going back soon.

Was told about Charlie James by a friend from work and have been meaning to try it for a while. Finally made it today and we were not disappointed. The quality of the place shines through from the design of the shop to the takeaway cartons but, most importantly, the food.... wow!!!Beautiful, buttery mash and gravy surrounding the star of the show... a gorgeous pie with lovely pastry and really tasty filling. My chicken and bacon was delicious but my husbands lamb and mint with minted gravy was out of this world. Has become our new favourite place.... our waistlines may be in trouble!!

Heard about this place for sometime. I got the opportunity to try it for myself tonight. I can see what the fuss is about! Private party, with impeccable waitress service , fantastic cold drinks served and a good choice of alcohol .....and the pies were amazing! I had chicken and bacon pie with skinny mash. Damn good it was too! I will be a returning customer

We went for Fathers Day and we weren't disappointed. Excellent meal, roast beef pie was delicious and I don't like roast potatoes but theirs are devine with massive Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend it.

Just had takeaway and it was absolutely delicious! I had my fave cheese & onion and hubby had the lamb & crushed new spuds. Couldn’t fault it. Red hot. I’d describe it as having a home-cooked meal delivered!!!!!!!

First visit today and won't be the last, was great! I had steak pie and the wife had the lamb and potato, both with mushy peas, I also had gravy. As it was my birthday, also treated ourselves to a Wallings dessert. The only minor gripe was that the barm was a brioche bun. We will certainly be back for more.

Finally managed our first visit tonight and it certainly won’t be our last!! What an amazing pie!!! The best pastry I’ve ever eaten and the mash was Devine!!! The service was warm and friendly and we were made to feel so comfortable and were looked after really well even though there was a couple of large parties in tonight... only downside was that we were too full for desert, so will have to visit on Sunday for sundae!!!! Well done Lindsay and Bryan ... you’ve created a fantastic product!!!

Took me a while to finally go and see what all the fuss was about, I can tell you I don't know where to start! Absolutely love the place, took my wife and kids today and wasn't disappointed at all, my kids were more than welcome even got to see how the milkshakes were made! The food was amazing plenty of choices/options even board games for the kids to keep them occupied. Can't recommend it highly enough, we had the smoked bacon and cheese mash and the beef Sunday dinner pie brilliant, it came with fluffy Yorkshire pudding, roasties and carrots. But there is so, much more on the menu, will be going back very soon

Let me start off by saying that it's nice to go somewhere friendly. This is that place. I've now had pie & mash from opposite ends of the spectrum. The low end being where there was no taste in anything & the pie was one of those 6 for £1 from your local discount freezer store type of things. Served with some light green tasteless runny paste. Garbage. Awful service too. Charlie James is the very high end of the spectrum. Total opposite. Made to feel welcome from walking in. Everything is very clean & fresh & you can see right into the kitchen when you walk in & have a good look at what's going on. Decor is light & the restaurant feels airy. The food we ordered was awesome. I've eaten from here before but it was ordered for delivery to where I work (they deliver, free on orders of £25 or more). When it arrived & everyone was tucking in all you could hear was lots of "mmmmmmm" & "awwwww". If you like a good pie I highly recommend this place. The fillings are sumptuous & well seasoned. The gravy is like silk. The mustard mash is also a winner for me. Even after being delivered 4 miles it was still very mashy. Deliveries come in strong cardboard boxes that have no problem keeping gravy in. There was a place in Cleveleys that held the crown for best chip (fries if you're American) but this place has it now. Fresh cut, super chunky, super crispy, with melted cheddar. Mmmmmm. There's a very wide selection of desserts & shakes on offer, all of which make you salivate by just reading them. Also, good old fashioned floats including root beer, dandelion & burdock etc. Don't see those on offer much. It's also nice to get a bottle of beer that's reasonably priced & chilled. If you like a hearty meal and/or decadent desserts served in a friendly family atmosphere then you should try here. Or get a delivery first & then make your mind up. I did & will be going back again.

A freezing cold day in Cleveleys was saved by the discovery of this little gem. Everything pies (and chips and other alternatives), including steak, chicken &bacon and even vegan alternatives. This is a lovely pie emporium. We weren't really hungry so I ordered the meat pie, horseradish mash and pea/carrot veg. We had intended to share, which wasn't a problem for the staff. But, having seen and test tasted my pie Mrs G couldn't help but order the same as me. Absolutely delicious and full of tender beef. The pies are made on the day by the owner so you can be sure that what you get is really fresh. If you're in the area drop in and tuck in, you won't be disappointed! The owners are really friendly and up for a chat.

Yay vegan pies!! The vegan butter pie is amazing. It's the best vegan option they have. Also the Sunday roast pies box is so good. Especially the carrots with rosemary they are so so good.

Fantastic food and well priced. We all really enjoyed the Sunday dinner deal. Portion was great and really really tasty pie, gravy, veg and Yorkshire pud. My 5 year old and 2 year old loved the steak pie and ate every last bit! Can't wait to order again.

My first time trying Charlie's and it won't be my last. I phoned my order in for delivery and the staff member was so very helpful. I had the minted lamb pie with premium mash and mushy peas followed by strawberry waffle. Every cooked item was superb, well seasoned and very tasty. The portions were generous and everything arrived in sustainable packaging, a nice touch.

The staff are so friendly, the restaurant is spotless. Food exceptional as are the home made cakes. When we've had delivery the food is always piping hot. Can't wait to order again. As for negative reviews I suspect trolls are at it again. We'll worth a visit or several!

Always my ‘go to’ place for a takeaway. The food here is amazing, never had a bad meal from Charlie James pie shop. Some days we’ll go in and order and watch them preparing all the food fresh and talk to the really pleasant staff, other days we’ll arrange a delivery which always arrives piping hot. If you’ve not tried this place and like pies, then you really should. You won’t be disappointed.

Such lovely, friendly, genuine staff who go above and beyond for you. You can tell they care about their customers and make an effort. The food is always amazing, with a very good menu it is hard to pick what you want, as you want it all! Definitely recommend.

The pies from here are made fresh and you can really taste the difference, no mass produced rubbish here! They taste amazing and the mash is lovely and silky. I would highly recommend this take out. They do have a seated restaurant too and we'll definitely be trying that sometime soon if this is the standard. We wish the family who own this establishment all the best in this new venture....you'll go far with food like this 😁
