Sister accommodation associated with The Lifeboat Inn.
Beautifully appointed rooms with access to a very comfortable lounge with snacks tea/coffee and soft drinks.
TV with Internet access which allowed us to watch the PDC darts. Extra bonus.
Will be back.
Wonderful hotel. There are no facilities like a bar or anything at the hotel but there are loads of teas, coffees, milk, biscuits, crisps etc in what used to be the old bar area, so you would not go hungry. Breakfast is served at the Lifeboat and was amazing. There was a lovely restaurant round the corner called the Orange Tree, where the good was lovely too.
Beds were comfy and the bathroom was very clean. We had the smallest room but the other rooms were much larger. We didn't mind as we took the last available room.
The room was spotless and bed was very comfy. There was a decent sized bath with very hot water. There's no staff onsite, but when we needed more showergel etc someone arrived within 5 minutes of requesting it. Only negative is that there's no fridge in the rooms. There is one downstairs with free milk and water in it but would be nice to have a fridge in the room to cool my own drinks.
We did not stay at the Inn overnight, but rather stopped by for an impromptu roast sirloin beef Sunday lunch. Very nice service from the bar staff and waitress as well as pleasant interior. The meat was very tender and cooked to perfection. The dish could have done with some more gravy and with no horseradish or mustard it was a little too dry going but the cauliflower cheese did help. Other than that it was very nice indeed. At £22 a dish each plus drinks, it wasn't cheap but was well worth it and the food was delivered very promptly. Thanks
This place is just amazing!
The rooms are beautifully finished with lots of the little extras that make it feel really special.
The whole place feels like it's only just been refurbished and it's filled with high end goods!
Welcoming reception who take you to your room.
Great cozy bar and lounge area. The restraint however is something else with an open serving area allowing you to see the chefs work. Amazing. And the food was simply delicious!
Stopped in for lunch. It was clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and professional. I had to ask if there was a children's option, as it wasn't on the lunch menu. The menu was slightly limiting; particularly if you do not like lobster salmon. However, when the food did arrive (barely 15 minutes after ordering), it was very, very good. The children's option was good value at £6, and the rib eye steak was perfection on a plate. I would definitely go again, but we were passing through on holiday. That being said, I would have no problem in recommending The Chequers Inn.
We had a fabulous meal here celebrating a special anniversary. The food was excellent I had the best lobster 🦞 I’ve ever eaten and I have eaten at exceptional sea food restaurants around the world. We felt well looked after and enjoyed the whole experience. Will definitely come back.
Decor beautiful and clean. Staff attentive and friendly.
Had dinner here. As good a steak and chips as I have ever had (I've had a lot) and my wife thought it was the best roast pork dinner we have ever had. High quality and friendly service.
To avoid any confusion this is very much a restaurant rather than a pub in how it feels inside.
Lovely relaxed yet semi formal dining, we were staying in their other residence but was recommended try and we're glad we did! Jess and her team were very attentive, quality of food excellent, they don't offer sauces to accompany Steaks so if you like that with it don't forget to ask. Wine choices were varied and the 2 bottles we chose were excellent. Thanks for a wonderful evening. Will definitely come back if up this way again.
Had a fabulous meal there last night. The food was cooked to perfection, the staff (including the chef) were wonderfully friendly and I highly recommend the Chequers Ale. Not your traditional pub food but if you are a foodie you need to try here! Thanks to Steve and the team!
