Proper English pub, good beers and excellent pint of Guinness. Very welcoming landlord. Really worth a visit.
What a lovely little pub, I've noticed it the odd time travelling from Northallerton and I've wanted to stop. This is defo a place to come and see. A hidden little gem. Lovely staff too.
Absolutely beautiful traditional pub we spotted it as we drove by and even from the outside it felt like it was our kind of place…we weren’t wrong. Log fires with a homely atmosphere, although we aren’t from the area we felt welcomed. Most certainly recommend this pub, so cozy and the owner was love
Real fire, real wooden beams, real ale, really dog friendly & a very warm welcome real old pub. Food was awesome, best Gammon steak ever & house Curry. Very relaxed atmosphere, highly recommend a visit, book a table to avoid disappointment 👍
So. This is a drinker's pub. A real local.
I'm sure it can be welcoming to outsiders (it advertised on the main roads), but the locals were all sat in one room, and silence fell upon the room when we entered.
The landlord was a friendly chap, with 2 lovely dogs and a cat, so the overall feel was fin

Having just moved into the local area I have been on the search for a GOOD traditional pub, and boy did I find it here. Sure to be my new local. Landlord and locals are friendly and couldn't have made me feel more welcome. I know my pubs and this is spotty dog . Bosh.
Very dog friendly but not enough selection of rose wine sorry! Son loved all the craft beers though! Lovely and helpful staff.
PUB. Sadly not many like these left nowadays. Fantastic and long may it continue as it is. Great ales and friendly landlord and regulars. The bars and garden are real old school. Don't go for food because there isn't any which is exactly my point. Try it for an ale, you won't be disappointed.
