Called in here on Sunday afternoon looking for food and a place to park our Motorhome. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff and enjoyed a fabulous Sunday roast (Beef & Lamb shank) followed by a crumble and Sticky toffee pudding. All of it was delicious and home made. We would defiantly recommend this place. Lovely atmosphere and friendly landlord/landlady.

Hands down the best Parmo i have ever had! All food was homemade, and you can tell, the taste was unbelievable, and the chips were salted to perfection. If there is anywhere to visit for food in Thirsk, this is the place! The owners and staff were lovely, friendly, and welcoming, which made us feel right at home and were always attentive to everyone in there. Next time we are in Thirsk we will 100% be back here
Nice pub we walked too from a Nearby holiday village. Received a warm welcome from Barman and his partner. Would have tried food but the kitchen was going through a deep clean.

Amazing wholesome food. Fabulous portion size and top quality gravies. Each meat came with its own gravy. Dessert was really delicious, sticky toffee pudding was to die for.
Service was super speedy and friendly. Totally recommended this family friendly place.
From the moment we met Lesley she was friendly and very welcoming. We booked the function room for a wake and Lesley and her team were very good and dealt with us in an understanding and compassionate way. The food was delicious, lots of choice not just your standard buffet. Made a sad day a little better ,as everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble - thank you!

Super friendly staff and extremely helpful, food very nice ( the staff even offerd too open the pub to make breakfast for us 👍), which we accepted as and enjoyed the food that much!! ( all extra effort from staff ) 👍we were staying in our camper a few yards away and work was being done on it so having breakfast that morning gave us somewhere too sit and wait also get food too,BONUS😀, would highly recommend the dog and gun pub thank you soooooo much too the land lady for your the effort you put in too make sure we enjoyed our stay and a big thank you too her partner everything!!!

We visited the dog and gun on Thursday 5th jan for a meal at 6pm with 2 familys on a holiday break at woodland lakes lodges. We booked in advanced and was very welcomed by terry and lesley when we arrived. We opened a tab and ordered some drinks.
The waiter was so accommodating with our food orders and lesley came up trumps with some gorgeous food. We had a bit of everything of the menu from starters to deserts and all of it was superb.
We have kids between ages 1-10 years and soon as the kids had finished the ice cream lesley and terry put on disco lights and some music. We had a right laugh dancing and having fun. Darts and a Pool table also was a nice addition aswell.
Would really like to thank Lesley,Terry and the barman and waitress who really made our last night at Thirsk one to remember.
The lodges at woodland lakes were a nice little find but the dog and gun definitely were the highlight of our stay.
We cant wait to book again for next year just to see lesleys dance moves

We're staying at the landal woodland lakes and decided to try out the local pub... turned out to be a good idea. Was made to feel welcome soon as I walked through the door. It was a Sunday so they only do roast dinners witch if fine for us. Beautiful food and decent portion size would recommend if visiting the area!
Popped in for a meal last night. New to the village (visiting) on my own. A lovely welcome, we’ll kept beer (despite the recent heatwave) and superb Hot n spicy Parmo. Thoroughly recommend.
Came with 3 friends today as we are having a mini break and had the pleasure of dining at this little gem. This has to be up there with one of the best Sunday roasts I've had, absolutely delicious. Lovely place, very friendly staff, will definately be returning 😊
Visited this place twice while on our weekend away, both times the staff were really warm and friendly ..... the food was all freshly made and delicious, food and drink all at reasonable prices. Would definitely return ... thank you
Fantastic pub to visit, staff always make you feel very welcome and can't do enough for you. Food is home cooked and very enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a welcoming visit with home cooked food in the Thirsk area.
