When you go and stay in a rural village you are reliant on the local pub being friendly, serve good food & drink and an atmosphere to relax and enjoy. Thankfully, as we stayed next door, this is a place that does it all very well. An excellent and extensive menu that made it difficult to choose just one and customer service above and beyond. We went for steak pie & katsu curry if it helps you to narrow down your decision, my stomach is rumbling just thinking about it now.

Superb food and really friendly, attentive, staff. The Halloumi fries and chicken kebabs were a particular highlight. A great beer garden too! Our experience was only tainted slightly by some absolute cave dweller of a customer shouting his mouth off until he successfully ruined everyone’s day. Not the pubs’ fault though, some people are just born abhorrent.

Really enjoyed our meal here, at this lovely pub. The food was excellent, and Hermione was a perfect host.

A great pub with attentive staff. At first glance the food seemed a little over priced on the menu (average £15 for a main course) but nevertheless the food was great, the beer on tap great 👍 will go again.

Lovely pub with excellent value menu. Welcome, ambience and service were very good indeed. Had a fabulous lunch here and felt it was very fairly priced. Will definitely be back soon. My pint of IPA was also glorious.

Simply amazing! Some of the best food I have had the pleasure of eating. Good portion sizes, well presented and cooked to perfection. The staff were very polite and attentive which helped provide a lovely atmosphere. We will plan another holiday up this way in the future for the sole reason of being able to eat here again we enjoyed it that much. The only downside is the lack of parking, particularly if you have a full size SUV so arrive early as you may have to search down the really narrow lanes before you get lucky.

A chance find on our home from Exeter, super friendly staff that can not do enough for you was a refreshing change to the norm these days! The garden is lovely and a superb atmosphere. Food was really good I can recommend the mixed grill, it’s a big one! With a cosy interior, a good selection of drinks, it’s a perfect village pub that serves great food. Well done and thank you for looking after us so attentively 👏👏👏

Five star food! I know it's been a while since we ate out with CV-19, but this was a really delicious meal, in friendly easy going surroundings despite any social distancing that had to be in place. The food was beautifully presented, with careful consideration given to the balance of flavours as well as combinations of colours and the imaginative use of edible flowers. I love flowers! My Sea Bass dish was light and vibrant with tiny little pansies dotted around. While my husbands steak dish was dark and strongly flavoured, even though it could have been a little more tender to cut. The deserts were just as good. Prices were not cheap but you get what you pay for and this was, in my view, good value for money and well worth putting your best jeans on for. Would definitely recommend a visit.
