My wife and I came tonight (friday) as a treat to celebrate our 8th wedding annivesary, we had heard the recommendations and as the restaurant is in walking distance we thought we would come and have a meal. The hospitality is outstanding, greated at the door by very friendly staff who knew our name, coats taken and shown through to the table and introduced to the restaurant and it's menu including the buildings history before been introduced to our waitress for the evening. The restaurant has such a relaxed atmosphere. The renovation work to the building is beautifully done and retains its character. The food was absolutly gorgeous and the best meal I've had . Quality, presentation and taste is an absolute credit to the chefs. We are so.lucky to have such a fantastic restaurant on our door step. Thank you so much to you all for a great night. I can't recommend restaurant 1840 enough.

Stayed for a night away at the madley court hotel and found this restaurant on the off chance. Had some great reviews online but yet everyone we spoke to local had not heard of the place!? I’ve got to honest it made me a little bit worried. But as soon as we arrived our worries were over. We were greeted at the door and showed to our table straight away. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. We ordered our food, we both had starters and mains. 5 mins later an appetiser was brought to our table, we was not expecting this at all which was nice touch. After tasting the appetiser we couldn’t wait for the rest of our food. We both ordered the fillet and they were both cooked to perfection. The sides, sauces and everything that came with it was really nice too! Right from the word go the food was perfect, the drinks were brilliant and the staff were like non we’ve ever experienced before. It’s a very quirky and unique restaurant and we loved it! We will definitely be returning and we would recommend to anyone to go and try this little place out!

We went for our wedding anniversary celebration meal. What a treat!!! 💏 Each course was truly delicious. The salmon, cream cheese and caviar balinis are scrumptious, especially accompanied with a glass of prosecco!! The ambiance inside this historic building is lovely and quite classy. We loved the personal service we received from Ethan our waiter, who made us feel special. It was an amazing all round experience! Well worth a visit.

Our first visit yesterday to Restaurant 1840 following recommendation (a party of four). We were not disappointed. Restaurant 1840 is a real gem of place with food of the highest quality and an excellent menu. The service from the outset was outstanding. We were each delighted with our choice of dishes (lamb, belly pork, mushroom bourguignon and the goats cheese) - all were superb. Thank you all for a fine dining experience all round. We will certainly be returning

Probably the most striking restaurant in Telford. Really lovely setting and a hell of a lot of love and effort has gone into the renovation. Thankfully, the food and service matches. Pretty much a flawless meal and great to see such passionate owners. We will definitely be returning.

This morning we had an amazing brunch visit to Restaurant 1840. The eggs Benedict was superb. It was so lovely I could have eaten it twice! The fidget sausage was also fabulous (a stolen taster from the hubby!) We also sneaked in a mimosa which was a great way to start the day as I wasn’t driving! The restaurant looks great and so pleased to see people enjoying the unique surroundings and brilliant service. Well done guys and can’t wait to visit again soon for an evening meal.

Wow! Just wow! Came here for our 24th wedding anniversary! The food was exquisite. The chef is very talented. And the mum (front of house) was absolutely lovely. The atmosphere was great, and the establishment was beautiful and very clean!! The service was fantastic second time none! Grace and Josh was the servers they was very professional and nothing was to much trouble. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of food. Will definitely be back with friends. And will recommend to everyone! Highly Recommend, fantastic independent family run business. Definitely support independent your custom means the world to them. You can see the passion they both have in delivery the unique service. Thank you for a lovely evening x

It was our second time here this evening, the staff are lovely, nothing is to much bother, so polite and kind. Andrea and young waiter Josh are fantastic. The first time we come, my partner due to injury had no use to one hand, the chef was so kind to cut his meal up but yet still beautifuly presented. The food is here is outstanding, if you want a treat to fine dining, this is your place. A beautiful unique building with a good chilled atmosphere. A great touch with a black and white film playing in the background. Can not rate you enough, thank you!

Went for anniversary meal, all staff friendly and obliging. Meal choices good. We had the pork belly and chicken parfait starters. Delicious and not too filling so we could enjoy our mains and finish them with out feeling too full. Mains we went off the specials menu. Was beef slow cooked and was delicious, large portion of beef. Didn't have room for dessert. Loved the building and what they have done to it. Looking forward to going back.

Amazing food, and incredible service packaged in a truly lovely venue. My wife and I shared the Chateaubriand beef fillet platter and let me tell you: it is steak to die for. I would really love to know how they get their potato dauphinoise sooooo consistently layered so as to get that creamy, nutmeg-y(?) goodness in every bite!

My wife and I went to Restaurant 1840 , at Stirchley , for the first time on the night of Tuesday 12 September 2023 to have a birthday celebration meal. It is in an old , rennovated Chapel building , built in 1840 , hence the name. We were very impressed by the quality of the food and the caring service from Alison , Molly and Grace . We can highly recommend the Restaurant 1840 and although they are regularly booked out later in the week they are now opening on Tuesday and Wednesdays with spaces still available . The Restaurant 1840 has a well laid out small tarmacadam , flat, car park to the left of the building on a slight slope. It has a glass entrance porch with a large main dining area and kitchen on the ground floor with a smaller balcony area above the kitchen . We had a table upstairs and were amazed by the number of times that the staff climbed the stairs to come and service our needs , always smiling. The toilets are at the far side of the kitchen - through a very low stone arch ( duck ! ) with a unisex and disabled toilet available. My wife had a lovely fillet steak whilst I had a Pork Belly with cherry sauce ( containing nearly an orchard load of cherries) . Our sweets were another fantastic experience with my Rhubarb Panna Cota and my wife had a Chocolate ball , on a strawberry, in glass with hot caramel sauce poured over it . Do be aware that the menu is much more extensive than the one on the website and has some wonderful taste experiences. We do intend to revisit this superb restaurant now we have discovered it !
