I like Anglers mainly because of its location ( by the river) and its spacious place. There is plenty of space indoors and outdoors. Appreciate the bicycle racks in the garden.
Four of us went there recently for Sunday roast. It was pretty tasty. Roast beef was soft and medium done, to our liking. Vegetables and roast potatoes were done nicely.
I was impressed with the desserts. Normally, I don't get to any dessert following a large meal, but on Sunday, we decided to go for it.
The only comment I will make is about the service. The table wasn't cleared up as we emptied the plates. We piled up the empty plates, and they stayed like that till the end. It's not a pretty sight if you are enjoying a nice meal. Tidy and clean table is the first thing I look for in a restaurant or pub. That makes a huge difference in customer experience.
It's a beautiful pub with lovely views and lots of tables outside. The service was pleasant enough but nothing outstanding. I had booked for a birthday and reminded about the birthday and I was hoping for something a bit special. Instead I was told 'you can have a dessert for free', which is lovely, of course, but no candle or song or anything out of the ordinary. It just felt a bit flat. The food was delicious but very expensive. The cote de boeuf is way more expensive than from the restaurant Cote, which is slightly outrageous for a pub. I had the sea bass which was lovely and my partner had the burger which was nice but small. We will go back but mainly for the views
This pub has amazing views, and although I only have a drink, I could see they have an amazing offer of meals on the menu.
I was a bit disappointed to see a sad looking Icecream and spend quite a sum in some expensive French Rose, and have it served not cold enough and in a plastic cup but views were worth!
Toilets were disappointing as well and I understand it was busy but more reason to have it checked more regularly?
Spacious outdoor seating
Polite staff and quick service.
Dog friendly too as well as suitable for families and small groups.
Lovely setting alongside the River Thames
I had the most fantastic experience at the Anglers.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our every need was met.
The food was a highlight. The menu offered a diverse range of options, and everything we tried was exceptional. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a delicious meal, the Anglers has got you covered.
Great selection of beers to complement our meals. The recommendations from the staff were spot on, and they clearly take pride in their craft.
It's a hidden gem in the heart of the town, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.
There is a great atmosphere in this pub. The beer garden and views are great being situated next to the Thames
We liked atmosphere there. We went there for a few drinks, and vibe is good. 2 things which could be better: garden closed tooo early (22.30 on a Friday night, and everyone have to move inside - there was so noisy and lots of people). Second Passion fruit martini was with lime. But it is personal preferences, and nothing about the place.
There is parking as well.
Lovely pub , nice garden and good atmosphere in there. It's a bit pricey for beer £7.20 a pint and food was tasty. I liked the reading glasses gesture they offered at the bar in case you forgot yours. Nice touch for sure .
I have known The Anglers as a pub for many years.
Since the last time I was there, they have had a refurb/extension.
The atmosphere is contemporary but cosy.
Today was the first time that I've had a family meal there.
It was Mothers Day so very busy.
The staff were run off their feet but did their very best to remain friendly and polite.
I ordered the nut roast, which was delicious.
I found the veg a bit cold and the gravy quite sparse ( despite requesting a second serving of gravy, which arrived quickly ) But maybe that's just my personal preference.
I had the peanut butter, chocolate and hazelnut tart for pudding, which was also very good.
Had it not been Mothers Day,I think we would have enjoyed the meal more.
Will probably return for food on a weekday!
Cosy interior with fireplace ideal for an indulgent hot chocolate. Good choice of beers on tap. Unique large outdoor space right by the river Thames. Women's toilets are very glam! A quality venue.
Great menu, fabulous food, and fantastic ambience. We sat on the picnic tables by the water and it was so lovely.
The green goddess salad was great and fresh, although quite overpriced. But the aubergine salad side dish was quite a large serve and really tasty - not bad for £4!
Beautiful place to come on a sunny day. Any day really. Good pricing. Gorgeous atmosphere and scenery overlooking the riverside. Service is fantastic even on busy days, you're not kept waiting long. Haven't had food here but the seasonal drinks are out of this world. The mulled wine during the winter months is one of the best to warm those cockles. Please take a moment to soak up what this place can offer you.
This pub has a very large outdoor area which was full and buzzing on a Friday summer evening. We ordered drinks and food and everything tasted great. My only niggle would be that starters were on the small side (for sharing at least). Also I did think the prices for the food were quite high but maybe that’s just the going rate for the local area and riverside location. We had a wonderful evening here, which was enhanced by the friendly service, and would recommend.
We visited for Sunday lunch. This place has a good vibe and the staff are friendly. We had Sunday roasts. They are around £20 per portion and for that you get a generous amount of meat and Yorkshire pudding along with the other bits. Will definitely come here again.
What a big, open, scenic spot by the Thames. We had a nice selection of ales and a pleasant Pimms. Focaccia with olives and oil made for a tasty snack. Kids menu had many options, and adults savored the breaded haddock, blackened salmon, savory salad, and chicken schnitzel. Busy day with fine service, and a session of table tennis to boot.
It was my first time I really enjoyed the atmosphere and had a bit of a bit so I can’t actually comment on food but definitely will go back to have a proper meal. It’s really nice place. Thank you.
Really nice pub with a good location. The food was great and tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The desert took longer than expected but they "compensated" us for the delay. I'll probably return with my family.
