What can I say... I had a rough day today... One of those proper flustercuck days when the universe is all dead arms and wedgies and out for your lunch money... However thanks to a spontaneous and I suspect not uncommon act of purest goodwill from the hard working staff and TJ's & LJ's fish and chip shop, I may yet go to bed with a smile and a belly full of tasty chips... Top marks, trust me folks businesses like this should be rewarded and you belly will thank me...
Called in here for fish n chips whilst we watched the Tavistock Christmas light switch on.
They were extremely busy as you would expect however the staff had a great system set up which meant service was fast and efficient.
The chips were really good quality, I also had a plain sausage and fish cake which were also really good.
They do take orders by phone as well and party orders can be delivered. The menu is extensive, there is limited indoor seating as well.
An impromptu supper. Great quality and portion size. The chips were tasty, crispy, but not too crispy. Fish tender but firm, and a very thick fillet. Mushy peas.....mmmmm. Highly recommended.

The food was really lovely but far to many staff behind such a small space, all on top of eachother and queuing out the front door.
Really helpful staff with ensuring the fryer was as clear of bits when asking for a fish with gluten free batter, and even gave us gluten free vinegar. Friendly staff and good food.

I've just had steak and kidney pie, chips and mushy peas, and I must say it was absolutely amazing, and the staff were brilliant, although they were extremely busy, we had great banter between us all, will definitely be going back, thankyou goes to all the team.
Had a fish and chip meal here it was very busy the locals seemed to like what they were getting,to me personally I have had a lot better as the chips were over cooked probably re fried from an earlier fry up,having said that I was hungry and ate the lot but these weren’t the lovely golden brown chips that I am used to having,the cup of tea was nice though.
Excellent fish and chips. The chap with the ponytail is the best fryer in Tavistock. Often when walking home from work I get a cone of chips. Crisp on the outside and soft inside. The payment process can be a bit erratic. Used to use Tavistock Times newspaper which was a great way to catch up on the local news too!
Great fish and chips shop. Delicious food and good portions. Make sure you check with them for sizes as you might get way to much otherwise. 10/10
Had the privilege of meeting lj (Louise) last Friday. So efficient it was unbelievable. The fish and chips I had were so good. Amongst the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend.
