We had an amazing meal last night ( 25th November) the mussels and whitebait were delicious as were our mains ( steak and the salmon ) dessert was creme brûlée which was yummy too. Plus lots of gins on offer. The landlord was attentive without being intrusive. Really friendly manner and friendly people. Highly recommend this pub. 👍🏼

Amazing food here. Was on holiday locally and stumbled across this lovely place. Looks inviting from the outside which originally drew us in. The service is outstanding. A little gem of a place well worth a visit if your in the Tavistock or close area.

Visited here on a bit of a pilgrimage as my uncle lived in the village from 1975 until he passed several years ago. Fantastic village pub with friendly staff. Will definitely return if ever in the area again :)

Food was in exceptional condition, we've eaten here before, but feel the trip out from Plymouth is worth it. A fine choice of desserts also here. I can highly recommended a visit here. As a real ale drinker I can say the Jail Ale is always kept in superb condition.

Visited twice during our holiday, both times the food was excellent, service friendly and fast. Situated in a lovely village, although pub car park is tiny ample parking on the main road. Pizzas are especially lovely and fresh, you can tell the ingredients are local. Highly recommended, a very relaxed pub. Do have a walk in the abandoned castle next door to walk off the food.

Popped in to this traditional Inn for a late Sunday lunch after a morning in Tiverton, just a few miles away. Most tables were showing reserved signs so we were unsure we could be accomodated. We received a lovely warm welcome from the bar man who found us a brilliant table. I was relieved that they offered 'small plates' of the traditional Sunday roasts. Orders taken promptly and food delivered after only a few minutes wait. The selection of vegetables was impressive and they were perfectly cooked. Even an extra jug of gravy. HUGE Yorkshire pudding! Really one of the best Sunday roasts I've had in a long time. Attentive service with a smile from all staff and a surprisingly reasonable final bill. Highly recommended for food quality and cooking, service, value and atmosphere! After lunch we found a well equiped rural childrens play park very close by which was really helpful prior to the journey home. We will be sure to return!

Absolutely excellent Sunday roast in lovely old Devon pub. Landlord such a nice genial host we even forgave him being an Arsenal supporter. Will definitely be returning. Huge main and pudding 3 drinks each and bill £28 a head

This is a wonderful authentic village pub. I ordered the rump steak with blue cheese sauce. I have had hundreds of steaks before and been to Michelin star restaurants. This was easily the best steak I have ever had! Will definitely be returning soon!
