Our first visit meeting friends for lunch. A lovely character country pub. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, I had the steak mushroom and ale pie served with veg and saute potatoes, one of the best I have had. My wife had the vegetarian tart with salad and saute potatoes, again thoroughly enjoyed. The bonus was Otter ale available. It was a bitterly cold day and the log fires did struggle to keep the pub warm.

Absolutely wonderful place. The service was personal and friendly. The restaurant area was busy (Thursday evening) and the food (quality, range on offer and portion size) was excellent. Pricing was extremely competitive and I would encourage a visit to anyone passing. This is definitely up there with the best pubs to eat at in my view.

Perfect roast beef for Sunday lunch. The Yorkshire pudding was homemade and very large and the beef was magnificent. All for £14 each- we couldn't believe our luck. A lovely traditional pub with excellent brisk service. Also dog friendly.

What a wonderful pub... If you are interested in experiencing a truly fascinating pub in the English countryside, then you'll have to visit The Birds in Hand. The food is great, the prices are fair and the atmosphere is fairytale-like. If you get there, then you'll have try out their beer battered cod with peas and chips. It's awesome...

Sunday roast was great, loads of meat and proper roast potatoes with a light Yorkshire pudding. The sweet was fine but not as good...

Dropped in for lunch on the way from home in Scotland to the ferry in Plymouth. Used to have a friend and colleague whose family home was North Curry and visited this pub some 45 years ago. A wonderful village local with excellent real ale. Well worth a visit!!!
