Lovely little store full of 'fresh farm goods'. Some more unique items, such as handmade jams & preserves, chocolates etc. You can also buy a variety of coffee beans. It's great store if you want great quality food. You can also buy some of the usual supermarket products. There is a deli counter, a good selection of alcohol, lottery booth and a post office. Also there is a cafe upstairs.

Now closed such a shame as this was great experience, old fashioned shopping at it's best. I use to say "If you want something unusual and cannot get it in County Stores, you cannot get it in Taunton" Lots of unusual products in their gift shop. Lovely big restaurant on the second floor, food is all cooked in house. Now closed for good.

This was my favourite part of discovering Taunton, as it is an amazing store that has a bit of everything inside. The cake display was fantastic, plus lovely sandwiches & snacks, they have coffee beans, tobacco, newspapers & magazines, a nice selection of wines & alcohol, fresh food, frozen food, day to day household items, cards, I could go on & on! Post office at the back of store, plus upstairs has a selection of items for sale that would make good gifts, with a lovely restaurant selling a wide range of reasonably priced food, it was far to busy to get a table when I visited, so maybe next time.

We moved to Taunton in 2003 and The County Stores was an establishment that we were immediately impressed with. It has charm and character with attentive staff. Anyone visiting the area will remember their experience at this shop as, so often, our towns merge into one with all the usual high street stores. It's refreshing to have some individuality.

It's a shop selling sweets snacks and stationary but also the town post office. At times can get very busy(school finish times) So don't leave post office counter requirements until your due to catch a bus or train etc. The staff are friendly and helpful and it feels like a traditional British shop. There are window displays that are patriotic and nice to see especially with the Royal Wedding this month. So if you are a tourist visiting the UK you could by some souvenirs here. Or if your local and like pickles, jams & preserves why not get them here and support your local Post Office. 😀

A quaint old fashioned atmosphere awaits you as you enter the store. The old wooden floors and shelving scream quality. It's like stepping back in time.. There is a large selection of produce from fresh fruit and veg to delicious Krug champagne I recommend the roast beef baguette at lunchtime as it comes with tasty gravy.. Yummy

Has lots to offer - good reasonably priced hot food in it's restaurant, a great variety of chocolates, sweets, wines, beers and gifts. Friendly, helpful staff. It's a gem of a store - Taunton shoppers are lucky to have it.

Apart from being a wonderful general store preserving all that's best in terms of variety, quality and customer service, I just want to say that County Stores makes the most fantastic bread and if you have never tried it then you should. It is rare to find bread of such high quality and reminds me of how years ago simple bread and butter could be so enjoyable. Goodness knows what the trick is but well done to the master baker and staff behind the scenes. I am sure that there are many others like me who appreciate what a great job you do.

Love this store - so glad we still have it. The restaurant is great and my sister and I always make it a point to visit when we're in Taunton. Would miss it so much if it were to close.

Old fashioned and outdated but if you want a cuppa and a bite to eat it is really good well priced and the staff are just really lovely. Sometimes it can get busy as hot meals are very popular there.....

Very comfortable and the staff are really friendly and helpful. We had a lovely plate of egg and chips even though it wasn't on the menu, no problem, no fuss.

Lovely shop. Wife loves it and I do too. Very old fashioned and about all like that left in Taunton! Wellington has better older shops.

The upstairs cafe serves good wholesome food at reasonable prices. The store itself is quaint and you can find items you won't find in the usual supermarkets .there is also a v good gift shop upstairs.

A nice shop with a massive range of foods that you might not see at the supermarket. A little more pricey as a result, but for some it'd be worth the extra cost. There is also a café/restaurant here which is a very pleasant place to have a meal or hang out with friends and family.
