We went to the merry monk on Sunday and had a fabulous Carvery the staff were extremely friendly and the food was exceptional would defiantly recommend people to go here for great food and atmosphere !!š
Popped In Sunday lunchtime for a roast dinner.
I had Roast Beef , Yorkshire pudding , roast potatoes, creamy mash potatoes. Cabbage with bacon bits in it , leaks in a cream sauce, cauliflower cheese,gravy and horseradish sauce ...
enjoyed every mouthful and didnāt have to cook or wash up after any of it ... great service from Alison our waitress and the ladies Carving ... happy to recommend 5 ļæ½
All I can say is what lovely, friendly and helpful staff The Merry Monk has and how delicious their food is!
Nothing seems to be a problem at all, and I have now found a great place to get a vegetarian and gluten free carvery!
Looking forward to coming back again.

The carvery meals are excellent value for money. Tuesday to Thursday (I think) is a 2 for Ā£13.95 offer so represent even better value for money. The food is well prepared, has a choice of 3 meats and loads of vegetable options. If you do not like your vegetables a little on the undercooked side this may not be for you. All round excellent meal and the staff were helpful and obliging.
One of the tastiest carverys we've had. .... always friendly, helpful staff ,first choice of place to eat every time.

Went to the merry monk whilst on holiday last week. Had a really lovely carvery, in fact it was so good we went back the next night for my birthday too!. Exceptionally friendly staff, great food and delicious dessertsā¦.who wouldnāt?
Food was great! Gravy was nice and tasty, good roast potatoes and parsnips were fantastic! Could have done with another slice of beef, not as much as I'd have thought you'd have.
Service on welcome very good and the member of staff very pleasant. Sadly left to our own devices for quite a while, then had to get a round of drinks whilst still eating as no one came to our table. We then had to go and find someone to order dessert. Admittedly they were busy and to be honest you can see why as the food was very good! Would come here again for a carvery and overall we enjoyed our visit. Hopefully next time the service will be slightly better.
Lovely place ! I was surprised to see a very extensive menu along side a carvery that is almost open all day ,every day of the week! Soup starter was homemade and absolutely delicious, tomato with a nice swirl of cream and homemade croutons. For mains me and my daughter had a carvery, good selection of meats , all nice and hot, you can help yourself to crackling , stuffing and yorkies , veg was cooked well , if you like parsnips definitely pop some on your plate as they are delicious! Also have the option of dauphinoise potatoes on the carvery. My young lad had mac and cheese from the child's menu , again very nice! Comes with homemade garlic bread and a nice fresh side salad . Staff lovely, friendly and professional . Will definitely be back and hopefully we will have room for dessert, thank you for a delicious meal š.
Amazing evening at the Merry Monk. Carvery on a Monday was just what I needed and it was fresh tasty and lots of choice. Great value for money. The desserts were incredible too.
First time my family and I had been here. Food was great, veg a little hard. Service was terrible. We got there at 2.50pm for booking at 3.00pm. We were seated and waited 25minutes before being told we can use the Carvery. When we finish eating we waited another 20 minutes before being asked if we want dessert then waited 10 minutes so we left.
Had a carvery here mid week. I was really impressed with the food, service and the venue. The carvery was absolutely delicious, a fantastic choice of vegetables to go with three choices of meat. Would definitely go again and thoroughly recommend.
Went for a Monday carvery, shown to the table, felt like a high end restaurant. The carvery was superb with everything cooked perfectly, especially amazing potatoes and parsnips. Service was spot on throughout. And when we got the bill it was low end prices. An excellent experiences.
Nice atmosphere, great location, nicely decorated and good food. Would recommend the quiz night. Very relaxed. I would definitely recommend it for anyone that fancies a decent roast, or just a few drinks.
The pub was busy and clean and tidy.
We had not booked, but the staff were welcoming and friendly and managed to find us a table, making us feel like part of the family.
We ordered the carvery, which was freshly cooked, piping hot and tasted delicious.
We highly recommend this place for a carvery.
My only regret is not finding this place earlier.
I'm definitely planning to go back.
Really enjoyed our carvery tonight, We are from out of the area and wanted a proper dinner, the roast potatoes and stuffing balls are a must, all the meats were nice and cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and welcoming including our carver Arthur, a nice guy. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited here with my family. I haven't been for a few years; I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere and decor, which is light and fresh, and the tables aren't cramped together.
The menu had a good selection to choose from. I went for a steak, and always have rare. I've been disappointed with other places that I've visited when the steak comes out, but I cannot fault The Merry Monk. My meal was beautiful, steak done to perfection, the plate was full! My guests were very pleased with what they chose as well.
I'd 100% recommend coming here. I'll definitely go again.
Popped in today with my wife and Inlaws for the carvery lunch. The meat was all cooked perfectly and all the veg tasted great. Carrots were cut a little too thin but that was the only negative. Potato were soft on the inside with a light crisp outside š this was the best carvery Iv had in years.
Great value for money too.
Definitely going again soon.
Been twice in the last 6 weeks. A lovely carvery. Beef was perfect and good selection of vegetables. We will become regular visitors!
Food was lovely, good facilities, plenty of space between tables so even when its busy, it doesn't feel too crowded. Only issue was a bit of confusion by staff re missing drinks and making us wait for our booked table despite it actually being ready for 45 minutes. Could easily put this human error down to being busy and the heat.
