Arrived at lunch time for a bite to eat after recently visiting the Funky Bear in Mere Green. As soon as I arrived, I realised I had been here before. When it was called The Owl. I have to say, the interior decoration is absolutely fantastic, just as the branch in Sutton. I ordered the anti pasti platter to start with, 3 lovely cuts of meat (and plenty of it) along with olives, pickles, sundries tomatoes and bread. The food was delicious and plentyful. For my main, I opted for a hanging chicken kebab...eith a rice side order and flatbread. Very nice indeed. Great atmosphere and good service. Prices were fine and the facilities were all clean and replenished. I will be coming back again.
Food is fantastic but as others have said service is a little slow. We were there 17/06/18 which was Fathers Day so some leeway can be given for the service.
Staff were attentive and ensured we had enough drinks, as well as catering to small changes we’d like with our meals.
Would like to thank Angie for all her help this evening with our Reservation which we booked the wrong restaurant she helped us out and we had a great meal for our 5 year Anniversary being together and felt welcome and there was a great atmosphere we will be back again
Service great. So cosy. Really nice food. Just a little pricey but worth it and kids pay park outside so that was even better :-)
Couldn't fault the attentive quick service and the Philly steak was cooked to perfection, melted in the mouth. We'll definitely eat at funky bear again.
Best food in the Tamworth area by far. Park for kids as well. Amazing place and amazing food

Service was slow and the food is overpriced, but in terms of the actual standard it was infaultable. Would go back for an occasion and hope the service speeds up.

I’ve never left a review about anything in my life but because people seem to be jumping on the bandwagon, I feel like I need to leave my honest opinion. I’ve eaten at both funky bear restaurants twice now. I’ve had lunch at the mere green restaurant twice. The first time the food was decent and the second time I had a burger which I thought was average but on both occasions I thought the staff that was working were very friendly.
I’ve had evening meals at the Tamworth restaurant twice with my partner and our two children. The first time the restaurant was busy and the wait for food was no problem what so ever. The food was very nice and the young girl serving us was excellent.
The second time, the restaurant wasn’t as busy and yes the food did seem to take a little longer to come out but again the food was very good and the staff very polite and good with our kids.
One of our children is autistic and is normally very impatient whenever we go out for food but on both occasions here there has been no problem so I can only assume that people are now kicking off trying to get free meals.
I find it very difficult to believe that the staff here are being accused as being rude.
I’ve recently booked a table of 36 for my moms 60th and have every confidence in it being a success. If I thought there was any issues I’d be booking else where.
Perfect food and very nice staff, great with my 3 year old even made her a flower, will be going back for sure
Came here today on Monday for mine and my partners 2 year anniversary, met by a class guy who seated us and was extremely pleasant, even called my girlfriend madam, I don’t even do that aha but in all seriousness food was beautiful and definitely worth a visit 100% will be coming back again for desserts as I was too full to try one! Great place! 👍
When we arrived we realized that there have been a lot of mixed reviews about the food here so we were having second thoughts, however we are very pleased that we decided to stay.
We were attended to immediately and seated, we were served our drinks quickly.
We were given the perfect amount of time to choose our starters, we didn't have to wait very long and were served in the right amount of time, the food was delicious and filling.
We didn't have to wait very long at all for our mains to come out and honestly I couldn't fault the food, everything was tasty, warm and flavourful, the meat was perfectly cooked and there were clean plates all around.
The staff were polite and attentive and looked after us very well.
Overall I think that this place doesn't get the recognition it should, the atmosphere was lovely and we would defiantly come again, it's just a shame there weren't more customers because we had a great experience. Would recommend.
