Hired the Function Room for a get together after my grandsons Christening & we were not disappointed. Staff were very helpful, any questions we had prior to the day were answered very quickly. On the day the food was amazing, mixture of hot/cold buffet made fresh & tasted delicious - no problem when we asked for more chips! The room was suitable for approximately 55 guests, we did have the bar in the function room but many guests went into the pub for beers on draught. All in all would highly recommend.
Lovely location, food is delicious and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Can't recommend enough - I also love the pub cat, he always comes for cuddles! 🐱
We went last night was absolutley lovey .
The staff was so nice and polite and the food especially the burritos best ever .

We have been on Friday for steak night and sat for steak night and many Sunday's for Sunday lunch and would recommend you go try it as food and service exceptional and value for money it's spot on

Booked table for 14 at very short notice for an after funeral meal this Friday. Pub was very very busy but still provided the food very quickly and all together too. Food quality was fantastic - thank you so much

I was shocked to read the reviews on here about this beautiful pub. My family and I have always used this pub and have always loved it. We have never had a problem with the food and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The food can sometimes take longer if it's busy, but they do advertise that this can happen as they cook all the food from fresh and to order. I think if you want 'fast food' maybe McDonalds would be more appropriate. We will deffinately continue to use this place. Loving the new summer menu! My bacon, mushroom and Stilton salad was amazing! Always love this pub, so welcoming.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to The Gate Hangs Well & particularly Tillie for helping us get out of a forgot the elf situation! We went to the pub to capture the elf having been late to arrive because he got drunk in the pub. Tillie agreed to be in the pictures! All the team were really welcoming & the fires were on so it was warm and welcoming. We also order the Gyro’s which were lovely and great value. Definitely recommend.
Went for bike night with my daughter and both had scampi and chips - fab food , real nice staff, good boozer and nice out door grassed area with tables. Quite a few bikes to look around and good atmosphere, will be back !
A dog friendly pub with a very warm atmosphere in winter thanks to good food and an open fire! The meal was delicious...my friend has a roast and I enjoyed a mushroom and mash dish. There is a nice garden which would be lovely in summer. Will go again then as really enjoy seeing the birds in the area around the pub. Lovely friendly staff, plenty of parking too.
Popped in for lunch and was very happy we did.
All the food was delicious, great portion size. The menu is slightly limited in the number of items but what there is is varied. (Classic pub food). What is and isn’t, or could be made gluten free is slightly unclear on the menu (Saw more acronyms than were in the key, GF, GFA, GFR?) but when we asked the waitress she checked very quickly for us.
There were only three tables in when we visited( including us) so the one waitress was able to handle working the bar as well whilst keeping up good table service. Therefore I can’t comment on how service goes during busy times.
Overall we really enjoyed our lunch and I’m sure we will be back.
What a great day we had, sat under very large tree near lake/canal ! Plenty room for our dogs to roam near us on leads. Under shade as was hot day. Meal was fabulous, hot, tasty, plenty of it. Drinks were nice cold. Young guy, not long been member staff was really friendly, made us feel very welcome, especially our dogs, they are our family so that was very nice of him.
Definitely go again.

We love this place. Great food, friendly staff and a wonderful venue right on the canal. Our boys love the space outside too.
Lovely chilled place. Be great in sunshine outside. Plenty of space for kids to play and very safe.

This pub is continuing its steps to remain covid secure currently, especially if you alert them of your preferences. Good spacing in seating areas in and out, table services available with ordering online also available. Huge outdoor space. Limited menu currently, occasional pop up kitchens also, but they do do good gluten free pizza! Friendly staff, plenty of parking, Riverside setting in one outdoor area. Dog drinks readily available! Edited a year on after another visit. Food has gone downhill sadly. The gf pizza came out uncut, I couldn't cut it with a knife it was so hard. The tomato sauce on it was not good, very sweet, and the meals were sadly not very hot, even though we were the only ones eating. Bench seat stained, wallpaper falling off, but staff were lovely.
My girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite on the way home. The food was amazing, and the staff were incredibly catering and welcoming. Will definitely be returning
This was a pub we camped at when my car decided to play up and I think it has been my favourite place so far.
Really nice, warm atmosphere inside with the best staff! They were absolutely amazing with my little boy and helped me out so much even calling in a friend to have a nosy at my car!
The wine was absolutely gorgeous!
There's a play park including toy cars outside which my little one absolutely loved! There's loads of outdoor seating including along the Riverside which is beautiful.
We got some chips, Cheese and gravy which I'm sure was homemade as they were delicious and so was the chocolate ice-cream 🍦 definitely get ice cream from there as well as wine 👌!
Honestly couldn't have asked for kinder, friendlier, more helpful and accomadating staff!
If you're in the area you should definitely pop in and if you're not from the area you should definitely still pop in!
We weren't disturbed overnight either and felt safe as the car park is under CCTV.
Didn't have food just went for drinks.. Lovely atmosphere, super dog friendly and polite. The staff joked that they actually prefer dogs too people lol, me too! 😆 They also gave our little dog some treats when we first got to the bar, and made a fuss of her, lovely touch.. Garden is super spacious and has lots of nice trees and grass, there is a stream you can sit by. And there are some kids toys dotted about, and swings for children to play with too. There is a little "Dog bar" where you can poor out some water in a bowl too. And it's the first place I've been to that actually has things on the food menu you can buy for your dog, even doggy beer! And dog ice lollies.. Wow they really do love dogs here don't they! 😃 I heard they get busy with Sunday dinners so maybe an idea to pre-book if you want food etc? Lastly for the lovely location, the prices are very reasonable too. Love this place, we will definitely be back again soon!
Had an early lunch here on a Monday and was very happy with service and our meal. We had a chicken and a veg burger and homemade chunky chips and they were delicious. Very covid safe with a one way system and staff using ppe and plenty of sanitiser.
