What a lovely place! Food was fantastic!
Really friendly and lovely staff too!
This is my idea of a proper country pub.
Needless to say I can't recommend this place highly enough and we will be returning soon for sure.
Catalan Fish Stew has to be tasted its just divine. Actually the whole menu is fabulous, beautifully prepared. And Mark behind the bar is a jovial lovely chap. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Well what can I say about this beautiful pub.. its absolutely gorgeous. Ths food js served brilliant and is presented beautiful and tastes out of this world. My favourite is the dingly dangly pork , and creme brulees. The staff are amazing and it has amazing service. Couldnt recommend a beter place to eat and make new friends and have wonderful food x
Fantastic country pub, helpful and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and delicious food.
Throughly enjoyed our Christmas Day visit, so much so we didn't want to leave!!
Popped out Friday night for a little drive and to find something a bit different from the normal choice of restaurants in Ipswich , so glad we did , very lovely friendly staff , service was excellent and the food was scrumptious , we both went for the home made chicken Kiev , with a equally scrumptious Aspels Cider , will definitely be going again.
Lovely, traditional pub serving great food with friendly atmosphere and service. Would love to see some pictures of your lovely bar area on facebook too.
We stumbled upon this place today. Dog friendly which was a bonus as our pooch likes to stay close. Lovely food. I had chilli, Hubby had faggots we both had date and walnut pudding for desert. Service was excellent. And Ruby our dog even had some doggy biscuits and plenty of fuss!
Nice little pub, lots to chose from in the food and drinks. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff.
Food well presented and tasted lovely, very fresh local veg in season cooked perfectly and big portion. The date and walnut pudding was really special. Lovely gardens, for summer eating,
Fabulous lunch today. Thank you .
Recommend the raspberry Bakewell tart. Best Bakewell tart I have tasted.
A cracking country pub with well-kept real ale and serving excellent rustic food (with Jon-sized portions.)
Lovely friendly pub great food highly recommended very polite and dog friendly x
We absolutely love this place! Food is great and the staff are so friendly. Reluctant to praise it too much however because we don't want it to get too busy!.
The boys and I had a little bike ride up to the pub to grab some takeaway fish and chips!!! Very nice thank you and pre ordering was helpful.
Went for a lunch time meal with my sisters and our dogs. Very pleasant atmosphere, warm and friendly and we were immediately given our menus. My meal needed to be gluten free which was no problem and I was given several choices. I chose the butternut curry with saffron rice which was very mild but fragrant and I thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. My sister's chose fish and chips and oversized fish fingers sandwich with chips both of which were more than ample portions and equally enjoyable. Only 2 of us had room for desert, I chose profiteroles with chocolate sauce and the other choice was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We all agreed we would return again soon to try the other options! A bonus was that there was plenty of room in the car park which is shared with the school as it was school holidays and there is a sweet little green area to take the dogs round either before or after the meal weather permitting plus a lovely seperate playground for any children in the party. All round it is a lovely venue and we'll worth a visit
Being just down the road yet never visited, we thought we'd give it a go. The food was great, the atmosphere was also great and the staff was very helpful and full of joy. Buy there seemed not to be able to cope with the number of customers that were in that night, and this led to long waiting times, and one group did leave early. We would go back again and would recommend this pub, but we may think twice about eating if it was busy.
What a beautiful, traditional country pub. Great cozy atmosphere, phenomenal hosts, very friendly and welcoming.
The fish I had was probably THE best pub fish & chips I've ever had. Lovely country gem, will be coming back and highly reccomend :-)
Wow wow wow.
Firstly the atmosphere, what a lovely cosy, welcoming little pub.
The staff; there was two lovely ladies who served myself & my family. And quiet frankly, they were warm, welcoming & lovely individuals.
The food; WOW. We had the shrimp linguine, pork belly & house burger, these dishes was all a 10/10.
Overall, would return in a heart beat.
Wonderful food, lovely pub, very friendly and kind service and attention. Forst time here and the food and experience was so good, we will definitely return. Highly recommend. Thank you.
My wife and I ventured out to The Moon & Mushroom in late December, having read good things about the pub online. The food is everything you want from a proper English pub; cooked well and hearty with ‘no frills’ presentation. We had breaded brie to start, then fish and chips and a burger for main. The pub itself is very cute, with low ceilings and pretty lighting, and service was incredibly welcoming. Perfect for a cosy festive lunch.
Great pub with original features from the 16th Century, real ales locally sourced and some pretty fabulous food. All this combined with lovely, attentive staff. What a find- it's my Mum's local so will certainly be back. Big thanks to Liam who was gracious and lovely, and made the entire evening even more of a pleasure. ☺️
Fantastic first experience of this glorious little pub! Amazing drink and ale selection, great menu, cracking food and lovely staff! Highly recommend and will be going back!
An absolute hidden gem in the Suffolk countryside. The service is warm, friendly and very welcoming and the food is amazing. A great place for a days walk with friends followed by a few drinks and excellent food
I can not thank the team for their hard work and making my birthday special.
We were lucky enough to have private dinning area to ourselves, which was ideal for our party and for the Children,
(As the little ones can be challenging)
I would highly recommend, the service is brilliant, the pub is very cosy and food is 10/10.
A big thank you
Sheena
BRILLIANT fish pie & Fish & Chips and carry out alcohol, pre order and get a time slot for collection ,but very friendly, aficiant service, super tasty and great portion size....cant wait for this beautiful little old fashioned pub to be open again, well worth a visit when it's open for business again...beer garden is so pretty ,surrounded by lots of Rose's and plants with shelter...sorry only got one picture of fish pie but also patio area.
*Edit* now that summer is on its last legs the outside area has an awning and heaters and table service so you get to still enjoy the evenings and great menu outside in this lovely little Suffolk pub
Felt very well looked after when we popped in this afternoon for some grub. The fish stew was, as others have commented, amazing! Nice to step away from the chains to some good home cooked grub. Thank you for having us
Fabulous old country pub with two log burners adding to the ambience. The food was excellent and fairly priced. The young woman who was on duty was delightful. Will definitely be back soon
A lovely little pub that I have not visited since the 1990's, when I used to go with my late father, on days off from work. It was good then, and we'd often have lunch there.
I went today, (28/08/23), for lunch, as it was my 60th birthday. I had a very good pint of Cider, and an exceptionally good 'all day breakfast', made with really good locally sourced ingredients. The service was excellent, and non-intrusive, and the surroundings of the truly ancient building were as nice as I remember - a tad brighter, but not so as to be annoying. Portion sizes were great, and the meals had by my brother, his partner, and their son, looked top-notch.
I love slightly out of the way places like this. Good food, brilliant service, and lovely surroundings. What more does anyone need?
Nice one, and thanks for a lovely birthday lunch. 👌👌👌
To begin; if you’re staying near this pub then give it a visit. It’s excellent.
After a day of trudging around Ipswich and not seeing anything worth trying for an evening meal we remembered that we had seen a sign advertising the Moon and Mushroom on a main road so we called them and booked for opening time on Friday night.
What a lovely little quaint place it is too. The front has seating amidst some lovely greenery which leads to the small front door and the old style ale house interior which I love. It also allowed our little Dachshund in too which was essential to our choice.
We were greeted by the very friendly owners and seated immediately by the bar. They serve three local real ales (Earl Soham Brewery) of which the one I tried (Gold) was very nice. They also gave our pooch some treats and made a lovely fuss of him.
We selected our food which was absolutely delicious all round. I had a special which was steak and frites with truffle and herb oil. I can very much recommend it as the steak was tender with a very tasty oil (not drowned) throughout. The fish and chips were also a really healthy portion and tasted great (I got a bit of it)!
I love nothing better than a really pretty, traditional, comfortable pub that serves great ale, great food at a good price with friendly service in a quiet village setting. This pub ticks every box perfectly.
Great little pub. Cosy inside, nice places to sit outside. Lovely friendly landlady and bar/kitchen staff. Ideal for dinner and a couple of pints (especially if someone else is driving, or else it's just the one!) The starters appear to come in quite generously sized portions, so you can comfortably share one starter between two people.
Not only is the Moon and Mushroom the prettiest and most atmospheric pub in Suffolk, but the team are super welcoming - can’t do enough to help, and the food is simply stunning!!
