Reviews Hexagon Swansea

I am not a food critic, but the whole experience at Hexagon was fantastic. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The ingredients were ethically sourced, fresh and well cooked. The menu (a fixed tasting menu on the night we went) was well balanced and interesting. Our evening started out with the only problem - the restaurant is set back from the road and the entrance is not obvious (the venue is new so I would expect them to improve lighting and add a plaque to the door as time goes on). Once inside, we were made welcome then served two amuse bouches, we particularly liked the goat's cheese and beetroot cracker course. We then had a spicy starter followed by a very well prepared chicken course with just the right mix of vegetables. The meal was rounded off with two different desserts (we shared both) that were spot on followed by a really smooth coffee and the most delicious fudge I have ever had. The restaurant is based in an historic building that housed Swansea's first printing presses so has its own character, nothing corporate. Most of the food was grown or reared organically and locally. I will be returning, this time with friends and will recommend to others.

Had a lovely evening in Hexagon. Great experience! The chef was very knowledgeable and informed us about the food as each course came out. Both the Chef and Waiter were very friendly and welcoming! The food was also delicious. Some reviews mention that there is a wait between each course, this is true, but it isn't a long wait and is worth every second. I would defintely recommend and eat here again. It is a very exciting concept as most food is grown/reared by the chef and is locally sourced.

I went to hexagon this afternoon with my partner and two young sons, we were completely blown away by the food and the amazing service. The restaurant is normally closed on a Sunday but the chef opened it up just for us, we felt like VIPs! Caerwyn was kind, interesting and a wonderful host . Every course was full of flavour and I really appreciated the explanations from him about how each of the meals had been cooked and how he had grown many of the ingredients used in our meals. During our visit I commented to my family that food looked like it was from Masterchef and was surprised to find that Caerwyn had actually made it through to quarter finals of Masterchef! I can't wait to return to this hidden gem in the not too distant future !
