Do NOT trust all these negative reviews you read from the past… 2 days ago I ordered takeaways, a mix vege with oyster sauce, egg fried rice, fried noodle, and sweet sour pork. I am chinese, but i’m not a fussy eater aswell, and I think the taste and flavour of their food was right on the spot. It’s a proper chinese cuisine.
Today I returned and I ordered a simple dish, because I had too much English food these few days.
It was a crab meat with sweet corn soup. I’m amazed how similarity it is the flavour was, the soup was simple yet on spot. Consistency and texture of the soup was perfect. I’m gonna be honest, simple foods are the hardest to make. It needs years of experience and perfection to make it soo simple and delicious.
Bravo, and i will visit again. Keep up the good work
I had a delivery whilst on holiday and really enjoyed it. I had prawn curry, chips and rice with the obligatory chicken balls and thought it was spot on. Came quickly and was hot and freshly cooked. A bit pricey but most restaurants are here. I would use them again.
Some of the previous reviews on here seem a little unfair or maybe outdated. Ordered on a Friday evening in half term. Food arrived within half an hour and I’m a 10 minute drive away so no delivery issues. Food was average+ UK Chinese restaurant quality and they do dim sum dishes which is a bonus and gets them the 4th star.
Had a takeaway and had it delivered, just thought what great value for money . Will be ordering again sometime. Very tasty and filling.

I had a takeaway delivery a few days ago and it was not Dragon restaurants finest hour, it took a long time to come and the food was not good, short staffing evidently meant the chef was also delivering the food, I was very disappointed as I don't often get takeaway and my review reflected my disappointment, after which the chef/ manager/owner ( I'm not sure ) contacted me by text and apologised profusely for the experience I had, he also called me and offered another, replacement takeaway,it was after the call I decided to take him up on his offer because his apology was sincere, this evening my takeaway arrived 10 mins after ordering and it was genuinely delicious, chips were crispy and fluffy, the meat on the ribs was melt in the mouth, juicy tender and fell off the bone and the portions were generous, the rice was fluffy and the chicken curry delicious, the chicken was really tender, sauce really tasty and vegetables perfectly aldente, so I know the food is and can be very very good, you just need to find consistency, if you have no one to deliver them don't compromise the food and try to do it all, take bookings for the restaurant and collection only takeaways instead,
The manager is a nice man who is trying too hard to be everything, it's all about the food after all, I very much enjoyed the food this time.
Visited on a Monday night in February and firstly were very glad to find them open with so many other restaurants closed at the moment, the staff were lovely and the food was excellent.
So ignore all the negative reviews as they have been under new management since October 2022
Will definitely be going back and spreading the word that Swanage has finally got a very good Chinese eat in restaurant.

Dragon Inn is with the times with an app to which you can order online and pay via card if wish to do so. Otherwise cash for takeout or phone orders.
Food is very fresh and to a high standard and generous portions. I recommend Sweet and Sour Mixed meat Cantonese style (pork, chicken, prawns etc) and Singapore Vermicelli, with Dim Sum platter for starters or on the side. VEGETARIAN and VEGAN options such as Mock Duck and Mock Prawns to name a few are a winner!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff hosting in a clean, refurbished and relaxed restaurant with an extensive menu and a fully licensed bar! Wine, spirits and Asian lagers. Booking advised!
Overall really impressed with all of our food from the Dragon Inn. It was all cooked really nicely and we had no complaints whatsoever, will definitely be ordering again.
Only slight negative was that we had no idea what time it would be ready. We ordered using the app, and although I got an update straight away to say the order had been accepted, we had absolutely no idea what time it would be ready- until we received a phone call an hour after ordering to say it was ready to collect.
Would be good to receive an update with an estimated collection time if it were possible in the future.
Still the quality of the food was enough to deserve the 5 star rating, highly recommended.
Me and the family have had food from them twice so far and both times was extremely happy with the lovely food and the staff are very friendly! Highly recommend. And let’s support the local businesses!
