Food lovely and a good pint. We had steaks and they were cooked from scratch and just how we asked. The banoffee waffle dessert was gorgeous. Made to feel welcome in this old pub and received good service.

Was recommended by the lady in Amber Bay Swanage. We both had a meal from the specials board (pork stroganoff & braised venison) just to say that it was probably one of the best meals we have had for a while. Service was excellent, the banter with the barman & chef entertaining, the food was hot,tasty & well presented. 5 stars from me.

Great local pub, made to feel very welcome on a recent holiday to Swanage, best pint i had anywhere and the food smelt and looked amazing even though i didnt try any myself! If i happen to ever go on holiday to Swanage again this would be my first port of call!

Lovely friendly historical pub -one of the oldest in Swanage and only one with a thatched roof. Nice beer garden with a covered area and good food.
For ages I have looked at this pub and thought I must visit. One cold windy Sunday was meant to be walking up to the nature reserve and beyond, but fancied a quick pint en route....
Then I got chatting. Wonderful staff, great landlord and lady, brilliantly friendly regulars and my walk ground to a halt. But it was replaced with a lovely afternoon near the coal fire, with good beer.
And finally, nothing to do with the pub, but hopefully to make you smile....
I bought a crystal ball but only ever predicted very cold winters.
Turns out they sold me a snow globe.
Great little pub with large garden. The beer garden would benefit from some plants and new seating but would like to wish the new landlord best wishes and hope to see you again next time we stay in Swanage.
Lovely old English pub with lots of charm and. A great atmosphere and made welcome by the locals lovely beer garden also pool darts and to end the evening the vocal delight's of a female artist the staff so friendly and made you feel welcome this is so important as the clubs large chains are very clicky
Fabulous little pub with a nice garden, great food, beer and service. The fact they do so much to support local live music and the Swanage Blues Festival is an added bonus
So good we came back 2 days later for another meal. The food was great and well priced and the beer was the best I have had in Swanage. Very friendly staff and we we're made very welcome.

Nice pub, good beers and very polite people. There is a great beer garden, a snooker table and live music time by time. Food (limited) is available now.
We found this place towards the end of our stay in Swanage and its the nicest and friendliest place - the couple who run the place are lovely, the locals were smiley, the beer tasted like it should do and the place was just nice to be in without being a fancy pants posh pub. Dog friendly and Thursday night had the added bonus of the visiting Coastal Crust Pizza. Venture a little way out of town, well worth it.
Straightforward, really friendly, usual hearty pub food. A warm welcome on a very rainy day!
